Catching Yellow Perch at Lake Sammamish, Washington | Tri Nguyen

- We went fishing for Yellow Perch (panfish) at Lake Sammamish after failing to catch any surf smelt, surfperch (Redtail), and pink salmon on the Puyallup River. Generally, panfish is the easiest to catch. We have never went home empty handed when fishing for them. These fishes eat pretty much everything include worm, chicken, and any fileted fishes. They usually come near shore during warmer months in the summer, and they get further out during cold seasons. These are invasive species in Washington state, and there is no daily catching limit as well as no minimum size. The only odd thing about these fishes is that they are really hard to descale. It takes a lot of energy to clean them before cooking.
