Hi - thank you for this recipe. I’m 32 and have never eaten fish or cooked it. I had a bad experience with shrimp when I was younger. I ate the poop trail and from that day on I would say I was allergic to fish or anything from the water or sea. I LOVE to fish. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to ice fish. I spent thousands of dollars for ice fishing gear and I figured I might as well try what I catch. Everyone I know recommended perch if I could catch it. Well I catch a lot of perch! So at 32 years old I finally filet the perch. Breaded and seasoned the filets. Fried them. Squirt some lemon on them and sprinkled some salt. WOW! Absolutely amazing!! Thank you for your video & breading recipe.
I also think your personality is very awesome and personable.
❤️
Those looked like some jumbo perch for sure. Nice big fillets. Makes me excited for ice season. Great video.
Northern Michigan had a terrible ice season. Early freezes, early snow insulating it and repeat through February. But spring is coming and the walleye and crappie better be worried!
Fantastic. Spent many hours on Lake Erie with my grandfather back in the early seventies through the early eighties, catching BUCKETLOADS of yellow perch and walleye. (I live in Ohio) A friend just gave me some perch he caught recently and I can’t wait to try this recipe! Side note: was in my local butcher/fishmonger’s market yesterday getting some ingredients and they had “wild-caught, Lake Erie perch fillets” for-are you sitting down?! THIRTY TWO NINETY NINE A POUND! 🤯
You need to cross the lake and buy them in Ontario; $19.99/lb CDN for yellow perch.
Geeze that’s way too expensive. Who’s buying that?
Looks soooo good. I haven't eaten any fresh-caught fish in a long time, and this may just get me to do so again!
Have some perch in my freezer from earlier this year’s ice fishing (lake Simcoe). Going to try this easy recipe tonight 👍🏼
Excellent presentation. My mouth was watering while I was watching. Waiting for Jan 2021 to go to Utah for some perch fishing. I will be recommending this video to my Dr. when I give him some perch.
Thank you very much sir! I am from Waukegan IL.... and we go to a lot of supper clubs in Wisconsin. Nothing beats perch! Lake Perch!!! I can eat this every Friday. Local market here in the area sells Lake Perch fillets... I’m going to try this! I like pairing my perch with a nice bake potato! Prior to eating ... it’s best to enjoy a couple of Brandy ol fashions! I will give this a try. Cheers!
Thanks, I went fishing and caught a perch. I will try this tomorrow!
My favorite fish - Perch. I am definitely gonna try this recipe.
Thanks Ivo, my wife and I really enjoy your video's. Now were hungry ! LOL
Tuning in from Eugene Oregon!! Cant wait to catch sum perch!!!!!
I just made this. So good.
Excited to try this out-
Outstanding video!! Followed your instructions this evening to the letter. Oil temperature is key.
Nice job, thanks. That white coat goes with that job much better than a t-shirt and a ball cap.
I love this channel. These guys are great
Love your videos . Can't wait to try it
You just made me hungry
Ivo
Thanks i will cook that some day hopfully soon
To samé súpravou filetů děláme v České republice.Také dáme majomézu.
That's basically the recipe I've been using since I was a kid (sometimes the oregano is swapped for store bought Italian Seasoning) and my mouth starting watering as soon as this video started. Great recipe for just about anything we catch here in Ontario. Great video!
Fantastic easy recipe.
your channel is amazing man just found it keep up the good work brother !!
Had to login again to give you thumbs-up after trying the recipe. After tasting, my children immediately gave me thumbs-up. They went as far as asking me if they can get more tomorrow. The only adjustment that I made, was using mixing some spices with the bread crumbs so I didn't have to add salt. All my seasoning is from Jamaica. Again, great recipe.
Beautiful ! , Grape seed Oil i will have to try that , Looks good Thank You Ivo !!
I thought he said rapeseed (canola)
hey Ivo love your videos i see you on the upper Niagara all the time and cant wait for your next walleye video :)
Thank you. Great and simple recipe. I had perch fillets ready to cook, watched your video and went right into the kitchen and made dinner.

Rip, wish I could catch a fish
@@s4dg That's why it's called "fishing," not "catching."

you say delicious? I believe you,my mouths watering, lucky you
Thanks man.
Awesome vid love cooking at a young age👍
They look delicious...Try adding Mashed Potato Flakes to your bread crumb mix. It adds a little lighter texture and tastes great.
i ondt have bread crumbs doing exactly this
Yemmy
This was pretty tasty.
So glad you enjoyed this episdoe and as a side note, I just released my first video on my new cooking UA-cam channel :) ua-cam.com/video/d8KoQP4LCr0/v-deo.html
Great video, thanks. I followed your recipe five-by-five however it bears mentioning that one needs to be mindful of frying time depending upon the thickness of the fillets....
I live in Florida, no perch here. I'd love to give this recipe a try, can you send me down some perch fillets? LOL
Never tried perch before, but if this recipe is anything like your walleye recipe, i'm sure it's fantastic.
With that being said, after trying "oil of oregeno", I don't think i'll be putting any of that on my fish :)
Now I just need to find a way to catch perch without a flasher, limits of 15 here most places (tho i would only keep 2 or so), as oppose to needing a tag for walleyes
Very nice tips, thank u. Is whirlpool still has trout this time of year?
Yes, loaded!
The sweetness of the meat... I would pair this with ! Fine, it's my secret...
Chef Ivo!
Well I never seen this video yet thanks for telling me about it...
More
Ivo, Thanks for the recipe. I just tried it today with Walleye & it was very good. My daughter also like it very much. Just wondering if you have ever tried this recipe in an Air Fryer? I don't often fry things at home, but sometimes wonder if I shouldn't try some healthier options.
...have not tried this particular recipe in the air fryer, but have tried others with good success - perhpas someday I will air an episdoe :)
@@thundermistlures That would be great! Thanks.
The Yellow perch song:
Yellow perch, yellow perch
you're so delicious
I love you more than
all the other fishes
Hi Ivo! In your opinion, what is the minimum size perch that you would keep? I love your videos and lures!
...that really depends, but the bigger the better :)
I just now cooked my first perch stove top following your instructions. Delicious indeed, and I don't know which I enjoyed more? The cooking results or your top shelf personality. Thank you and all the best from New Rochelle N.Y. Bruce the swimmer.
so glad you tried and enjoyed this recipe Stewart and thanks for the great feedback :)
Mmmmmm!!!!!
Hi omg I grew up around Lake Erie I lived in forestville ny I just bought 5lbs of lake champlain perch

@@thundermistlures thank you for letting me know 👍😃
🎣
How big were those Perch...14 inches??!! I've caught plenty of Jumbos in my lifetime but the fillets were never THAT big. Wow.
Ok, I'm stuck at step 0
- Have perch fillets to fry.
LOL :) You can also use any other white fish as well, such as walleye or cod etc....
Get yourself some stingnose jigs and hit the ice! They can't resist them! I don't even tip them and I limit out on Sodus Bay before noon every time I go!
go fishin
Italian bread crumbs can be salty :)
Those are some huge perch fillets. Where did they come from? What lake?
Lake Erie Jumbos :)
👍🍻🤓
Forget the perch, where did u get that sexy white jacket?! Lol
Hello from Youngstown we love fish first because we don’t eat a lot of red meat plus it’s healthy for you my mom is 93 loves Lake Erie perch. My question is y don’t mine come out like yours did. I use olive oil and vegetable oil I would think my oil is hot enough but it sticks sometimes and falls apart and I fry skin side down right away it curls up on me?? I see a lot of chefs cook with grape seed oil. On the pricey side but probably better for us. Also my dredge seems to stay on the wet side not crispy and crunch to it like yours. Please help me. I actually made perch for dinner tonight but I just pan fried in butter and light drizzle of extra virgin oil came out good but we like perch breaded and fried. TYIA
Just use straight vegetable oil and make sure it is about 360 degrees F before you put the fillets in - also, you should pat the fillets dry (can use paper towel) before you coat them, this will help also. It sounds like though, the oil was not hot enough, so again, just use vegetable oil :) Also, if the fillets are room temp as opposed to straight out of the fridge, this will also help. Further, the skin shrinks when fried, so try frying skin side up and if you put a slit or 2 in the skin, this should help also with the curling. Send my best to your 93-year-old mom :)
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Hi Ivo, great videos as usual. Was just wondering..where are you from? You have a very unique name
From Canada but Italian background....hence all the cooking :)
3:10 hahhahahahaha hahhahahahaha ohhhhhhhh hahahahahahahahahah
Those had to truly be Jumbo perch to put of fillets that large. All be trying this simple recipe except all add in some graded parmesan cheese as well
I wish we could have seen a closeup of the texture of the inside
I live in Phoenix and I can’t find Perch or Buffalo anywhere
Ivo how do you like crappies. To me they are the best then Lake Erie perch, then walleye, then smallmouth bass. But I don’t like largemouth too strong fishy taste 👍on the video
Why do you prefer the not-quite-shallow fry to deep frying? Deep frying allows the cook-through to be very even, helping avoid over-cooking one side of the fillet. Plus, if the oil is hot enough, the drainage of oil from the breading seems most complete after deep frying. Also, deep frying seems gentler on the breading.
Other than staying under the smoke point of the oil, is there a temp that's too hot for skinless yellow perch fillets?
Because the seasonings are often denser and finer than the breadcrumbs, they fall to the bottom of the breadcrumb bowl and end up concentrated on the last fillets of that batch. At least for the fine seasonings, seasoning in the flour stage, rather than with the bread crumbs, seasons the fillets more evenly and consistently. Oregano, for instance, can stay with the breadcrumbs, but paprika, ground pepper, and, most importantly, salt, in my opinion, work really well if added with the pre-egg flour. ...some seasonings appear to work really well mixed into the egg, too. The salt will actually dissolve in the egg.
Finally, sometimes the best way to go, when it comes to seasoning yellow perch, is just salt; not even ground black pepper. (I never not use black pepper, but that's just me. "I pepper my bed pillows" describes how married to black pepper I am.) Add just a splash cayenne malt vinegar right before popping a bite in your mouth. ...or a grind of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon.
Of course, if you're lucky enough to find yourself cooking yellow perch frequently for dinner, switching to a more sophisticated batter approach might provide variety.
Thanks for all the feedback :)
I learned something today...I need to add more oil to my pan 🤦🏿♂️
Paprika tsps, oregano dash or two, 3/4 cup bread crumb
Egg, with little water.
Flour, then egg, then dry mix
380’ veg oil, ht enuf, no stick, fill bottom pan, 1-2 minutes a side.
Dry filets first
Paper towels have formaldehyde in them
How can I make this gluten free??? 😢
All you have to do is use gluten-free flour and gluten-free bread crumbs :) Enjoy...this recipe is excellent
I thought you would use a cast Iron Pan
so i wasnt hungry. now......
I am surprised with no salt at all in the ingredients l.
I made bread crumbs from pizza...
Can you fry a catfish this way?
yes you can :)
IVO, those bananas are not ripe! Just letting you know before you bite into a bitter naner.
LOL :)
I want one of those fuckin bananas too.. those look so ripe they are glowing on the counter.. im sayin
Fresh Haddock cooked with NO additives TASTES SUBLIME...... so WHY do you add the ingredients, does Perch not taste so good on its own ??????????? Very Interested to hear your answer.
Yes, perch is very good on it's own - this is just one way to cook them but if you prefer more plain, then here's the video for you :) ua-cam.com/video/S0S9LvBSnH8/v-deo.htmlsi=s8ElF8mhGTGq8brE
@@thundermistlures I'll give it a try, cheers, srry for my negativity friend
@@user-ye7sj7gm3f ...no worries :) :) :) Glad you are going to give this recipe a try
Pat down the fish to remove the water, then add a little water to the egg… I’m out.
Thinking the same thing… “get all that water off”
egg is already mostly water. you remove the water from the surface of the fish so the breading doesn’t fall off.
olive oil for frying? not for me,,and i hate bread crumbs they burn and brown ,no good taste,,prefer using white panko breading instead
Is your name evil? I can’t tell.
My name is Ivo
Thundermist Lures thanks for telling me I used your recipe to cook up the perch I caught today.
