Thanks for the walk. Growing up in Horseheads NY, the Amish & Mennonites used to come up from PA to Elmira NY and sell fruits, vegetables and some bakery items. When I was little we used to go to Elmira & buy some of there goods. And yes always very tasty.

I live near there they have a restaurant called yoders a ice cream shop and a couple of other shops near by I literally work in a warehouse where a lot of them work. I grew up around them my whole life to where it’s just normal for me but every so often I always here people say they never seen them in real life or they didn’t know they were in Florida of all places

Thanks for the shout out to Peter . The videos were terrific and thoughtful of you to recommend his channel. It is really a unique community.Think.. winter vacation in Florida away from the prying eye that is typical of these insular communities.

Actually they do. They have problems with people stealing them. At the park they don't chain them but everywhere else at stores they are chained.

Thanks for the video. There seems to be a lot of people at Pinecraft Park who are just wearing casual clothes instead on the usual Amish clothing. Are they all Amish people in your video or some non-Amish? I live in Australia and I'd love to live in a tranquil 'Amish' type of community and do my woodturning and other activities, but I'm not interested in the religious side of it. I love the community togetherness, but it looks a bit crowded! I need a much smaller community village of about 20 - 100 people so that it's almost always tranquil! 😂💕

There are Amish in more than 30 states and 4 provinces of Canada. There are also very many other conservative Mennonite and Brethren who live a plain and very simple life similar to these progressive Amish. We conservative Anabaptists are found in most states. If you search us out, we might not be that far away from you!

Refreshing to see laundry (on clothes lines) drying in the sun & to hear nature's sounds (or just the quiet)---rather than the DEAFENING DIN of constant four-to-six-lane traffic (everywhere), which seems to be the 'new' Florida.

I wish it could spread out even more so I could buy a multifamily property there. I realize this is not likely to be a reality because rentals bring transients and sometimes crime, which no one wants, especially the Amish.

These houses do not have large amounts of land with pastures and barns attached, so there are not the facilities for horses or other livestock here in the suburbs on the edge of Sarasota.

They have modernized since I was growing up in Florida. Nothing compared to our Old Order Amish and Mennonite here in TN and KY.

  • @rephaelrechitzky9763

We have them in Canada. They love to live the way people lived few hundreds years ago. They also live without light, normal washrooms as we know. They drive those weird wagons with horses that I did not see here and wore old fashioned clothis. They are mostly involved in agriculture. It looks like here they are more modern. Very interesting. Thank you AK for the show.
