I was trying to make climbing nets for my parrots, people charge upwards of 150 dollars for just a simple net with a couple toys on it. This was the simplest tutorial I found. With 12 parrots of all sizes I need at least 8 different sized nets. You just saved me a lot of money! Plus, it never hurts to have a few survival tricks up your sleeve. Thanks
Thank you for the straightforward demonstration, I appreciate that you were prepared with simple explanations and not too much unrelated filler. As a chatty person myself, I can appreciate a lesson made simple and easy.
Funny you should ask that, I am working on a video now to show how to finish the sides and bottom. Very simple process, just tie in a straight line across the bottom and sides. Should have the video up for you tomorrow! Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial! I think I'm going to combine this with a hammock pattern I saw, and crochet myself a little hanging place for some of my stuffed animals.
Someone dropped a bunch of leftover yarn on me. (I don't knit.) I used this video to make myself a net from the yarn, turned it, did a bit of braiding, and have an expandable, re-usable bag. Not recommended for much but grocery shopping, but only tutorial that made sense to me. Thanks! Can't wait to try it with actual usable cordage!
I knew the minute I heard the word 'knots' and saw that you were going to do this using nothing more than cord and your hands that it was going to be practical and useful information. Thanks!
I needed a cargo net for the top (inside) of my van and was at Wallyworld to get one. They were all either; too expensive, not the right size or had an over engineered way of attaching them to whatever you were installing them. So I thought, "Hey, I have tons of rope sitting around, maybe I can do one myself." I thought it would be too difficult. Not anymore. I saw two vids on how to tie a net, including yours obviously, and tomorrow I am going to make one. Thanks a lot for the video. Gonna save me some money and learn a new survival skill. Thats always a good thing.
When I was training in the Andes Mt. we stretched a net to catch water from the mist. It was a net that was made of propylene and the holes in the net were about 10mm. I was amazed at the amout of water it pulled out of the air.
This looks so easy to do!! I can't wait to make one for my kids' toys!!! My son will be able to show his buddies one in cub scouts. Thanks for such an easy to follow video!
Thank you so much for this simple tutorial! I realize that if you are a wilderness person you should carry the netting needles or whatever they call them, but this is so good to know just in case! I needed the instruction for something less survival-esque to be completely honest (decorative net, haha) but, it's good to know that I can do this if I was ever in a situation that called for it. Thanks again!
in a survival situation, just keeping busy, working on things to better your situation will have a calming effect, and bolster your confidence. They say survival is 90% mental anyway. If you made a net, actually caught some fish in it and had a good meal, you would feel so much better (physically, mentally, and emotionally), your odds of survival would increase exponentially. Thanks for showing us how to make a net. It is really quite easy, if you know how to do it.
Hey bud I just wanted to say thank you again For posting this video. I'm making mine now. i wanted one for my bug out bag. And I decided why buy one when I can make one & know How to fix it in the field if I ever need. to. mine is going to be 10x9ft. I'm pretty excited although I do have a few. tips lol have a friend help u It would probably go faster. Oh and another thing a 1/2 inch between ur knots on the top is way to small You should probably spread them out more. And this is a great family project thanks again bud
Thank you so much!!! I am a cake designer and I am doing a large superhero cake in which I needed black netting to simulate Spider Man's web. You saved me! Also if I ever need to make a fish net for survival..I'm set!
You brilliant man! Thank you so much for this we are trying to catch a ferral dog and using a trap which has a draw string mechanism, we cant use meat as the bait so have to put wet food in something with the idea that she will tug on the net which contains the food and then release the door catch. Im going to use really strong nylon chord as the plastic netting we have been using she is just chewing through. If we catch her I will let you know!
Great video. but if I run a 30 foot line long how long do I make the lines you tie to it if I need a 6 foot deep net . if you fold the line in haft , say 12 feet long, won't you lose some of it in the tying of it. ? how do you adjust to for that? thank you , great video.
Figure about half the line for knots- if you want a 30'x6' net, the 30' length will not change much but the 6' width will require at least 12 feet of line. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
By far best net in survival if U have just a piece of cord,.. I don't get another people videos they make a net with tools and .., Well where do you see someone always have his tools in real deep sh.. Situation?! Thanks for simple and helpfull survival tip..:-)
Great video!! this is by far the easiest method, i wish i would have learned this method the first time. Now i can share the knowledge, cheers from Canada
The sides and bottom can be left as is or you can tie in a straight line to "square" it off. Yep, you can make a hammock this way, just make sure to use some good cordage.
thnx friend,, awesome stuff.. i watched three other vids before yours,, by far the best.. best style of knot - super simple,, it expanded in a triangular shape other vids were square shaped netting,, thnx much man

This was great. It just goes to show how versatile paracord is. Love the idea of using the casing as shoestring.
