    Elliot asked about trying two ropes together, under high tension, then locking them together. I’m using two Poldo tackles. The idea is to tie trees together for a tree net.

    this and 2 soft shackles is what I've been using to hang my laundry in the balcony when I need more space.

    This is a Poldo Tackle Knot or Poldo Rope System, I've used it several times in the past, very useful and cool how it works.

    I hope you have a rope sponsorship, I'm flinching at estimated costs lol. Great work tho love learning ropes and new ways of thinking about knots from you.

    I see you've now also upgraded to the inline directional figure-8. Nice.

    Would this method work as a long term solution for the perimeter rope? Will it hold the tention for years?

    This looks like it works just like a Transport Hitch aka voodoo hitch. Am I right?

    What benefits does the directional figure-8 add to the system?

    Could you have also used either the shackles or hakens instead of the "wire pull" with a truckers hitch?

    is there a way to tie this around the trees and not have to do two ropes?

    Do you just leave that one side with multiple ropes and the knotts stilll in place? Are they non-removable?

    I'm trying to make a waist high hammock treenet. How much rope length did you need for this perimeter? I had a 100ft rope for a smaller perimeter and I didn't have enough! I'm looking for advice 😅 hope someone can help!

    Not to be mean, but it this a joke? First, the 'corrected' knot shown at 2:18 is _still_ not a figure eight, at least not in any trustworthy sense. Simplify: a figure eight will have two ropes coming in, and two going out. If it lacks this symmetry, it's not a figure eight. What you've tied still may be a useful (or even strong) knot, but let's not stretch the definition. Why does this matter? Because when it comes to life-depending knots, the (unaltered) figure eight is the most important one there is. There are no substitutes, and I would not trust that knot with my life.
    We're talking about tying a permanent perimeter rope that will support actual human lives up in the air. Whatever the solution is, it should be elegant. I'm looking for something that's unquestionably strong, easy to tie, easy to spot-check, and with as few bends and moisture-prone points as possible. You have here a complex pulley system that even professional climbers will have difficulty troubleshooting and/or visually inspecting. Not to mention that you're using 4x the amount of rope that you should be for a problem like this. Consider carefully the difference between theory and practice. Especially when making a how-to video.

    Isn’t this a voodoo loop. Or at least a variation. I overuse a voodoo loop everywhere

    • @robdok98
      @robdok98 Рік тому

      I was thinking the same thing. From what I understand, a voodoo loop it's just a "specific" application off the poldo tackle, with a lot of carabines to reduce friction and a figure 8 on a bight instead of the bowline so you have something to pull tension in the knot
