A New Cocktail To Know | 3 ingredients w/ Kevin Kos

- Today I'm making a new cocktail - the Dahlia Cup! This week I've teamed up with two other UA-cam bartenders for a friendly cocktail challenge - Kevin from Cocktail Time with Kevin Kos and Gabriel from Liquid Memoir. Gabriel decided Kevin and I had to use three ingredients in our original cocktails; mezcal, chamomile, and lemon. I'm calling my answer to the challenge the Dahlia Cup - named after the national flower of Mexico (and a cousin to chamomile). This was a fun episode because not only did it push me to create something new, but it allowed me to show how my brain works when creating these new concoctions.
I had a great time working with Kevin and Gabriel. Both know their way behind the bar, produce engaging and informative content, and are great guys. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting their channels, please do so.

You are a genius! The episode was super fun and the cocktail looks delicious! Thank you for this collaboration. I am sure it's not the last one we did. Cheers, brother!
Thank you, Kevin! This was such a fun collaboration - I look forward to doing this again! Maybe a trip to Slovenia 🤔
@@AndersErickson that would be a blast!
Both you and Anders are very talented!!! I just wanted you both to know how much I appreciate both of you!!!!
Need a whole feature length film next
Time to get stronger computers and bigger hard drives!
Might be your best video yet Anders. The production and writing were fantastic!
I really appreciate that. This was a beast of an episode, but we had a lot of fun doing it. Thanks, Vino!
This was so freaking good Anders! Laughed so much. Love how you are just being you. The drink was great, thought it was very unique way of using all three ingredients
Thanks, Gabe! It was a lot of fun. The ingredients you chose were wonderful, but I still managed to struggle with the balancing 😂Hope you enjoyed the end result - thanks again for your feedback!
This colab is amazing. The small stuff and attention to detail is beyond whats expected. This is how a colab should be done. It feels like one video, not three different ones forced together.
Thank you, Stian! We had a lot of fun putting these together. Appreciate the comment - cheers!
The frikkin' pipe when you're reading is hilarious. I can't stop laughing about it. 😆😆😆
OMG! 😂 this was so good!!!! The lemons... 🍋 ⚾️ hilarious! Love how that drinks sounds too!!!
Yeah not how I intended the video to start! But I guess it set the tone 😂
I know where you got the lemon thing from :)
Your love of cocktails and personality combined with Kevin's scientific process is a blessed collab for CocktailTube!
Anders, this drink is a stroke of genius. I’ve made several original cocktails from different UA-camrs, but this is by far my favorite. Cheers!
Hey Anders! I've binged your entire channel in the past couple weeks, and this may be my very favorite video of yours
This is, absolutely, my favorite video! had me belly laughing. Good job Anders! Love it.
Great video, I love how it turned out.
Appreciate that, David! This one was a lot of fun. Cheers!
i love this channel bc now when i go back home to my parents i’ll make like 8-10 cocktails a night and try all of them and keep the ones we like. also it’s fun to shake things and make noise
I fell behind on watching your videos and now you've made me go out and look at more videos! What fun this was!
This was awesome. Your videos have really stepped it up! Your having way to much fun. Keep up the great work. 😀
Love when my favorite channels do collabs! Awesome guys!
Thank you so much! It was a fun collab. Cheers! 🥃
This is soooo well edited!!! bravo on that and the cocktail
Anders, love that glass. Love the simplicity! Looks wonderful! You guys are amazing!
Wow feels like yesterday that you only had 2000 subs. Definitely gonna miss this being a niche chanel.
I just have to say the quality of this video is amazing, I mean as usual, but like just the little story section alone is bloody brilliant
Do more of these!!!! Love this style
This video is inspiring. All the work and thinking that went into it make it all the more special. Thank you, what a highlight!
I appreciate that! So happy you enjoyed it - cheers!
Great cocktail! Fun to watch too!
Az throwing lemons at beginning had me laughing already and then the ice, I had to pause the video 😂 Also loved the idea of a lower ABV drink and I happen to have some Cocchi and Drambuie, no mescal so I’ll sub some Islay scotch, great stuff as always :)
Thanks, Danny! Glad you liked the video. I think the Islay scotch will work beautifully - cheers!
You have helped me think up so many new cocktails! I'm naming one after your drink the black dahlia
By far, your best video yet! Well done mate
Great looking cocktail!! So simple but sounds amazing. Great video Anders.
Cheers, Carl! Appreciate that! 🥃
This is my favorite video edit to date! Brilliant you two!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, Lindsay!! Cheers!
Dude this episode was incredible and hilarious
Thanks, Jonathan! Glad you liked the vid - cheers!
Great video! Loved how you took us through the logic on how you need to trial and error your way into something amazing! Truly inspiring!
Thanks, Joseph! That's pretty much the process - forever fixing drinks 😂 Cheers!
Cool Anders. I just went over and saw Kevin's creation. Very cool drinks...I must try them both.
Looks very refined! Love the 2 ingredient base!
I legit giggled multiple times watching this, well done!
😂 Cheers, Sean! Thank you so much!
This video was outstanding. Love the long walk down the stairs with the Pee ice!
😂 thanks, Chris! This was a fun one. Cheers!
Beautiful in every way!
I really dig the humor. And production level is really good. Subscribed!
Wowza, Anders!!! The Dahlia Cup is a spectacular creation!! Teaming up with Kevin and Gabriel is such a fun idea!! What a lovely treat!! I am so excited and I literally can't wait to infuse my Cocchi Americano, with the beautifully delicate chamomile! I have to get to this today!! This is a scent and flavour that I have always loved, but I have never used it in anything but brewed tea, for relaxation. The flavour is so unique, and I love chamomile, for a choice! The Drambuie, and smoky Mezcal brings such a delicious pairing!! Mezcal is a sprit I am really enjoying lately. That smoky quality is wonderful. With all the ingredients, combined, I know I am going to love this cocktail! Anders, this is an outstanding production!! Really amazing work! Cheers!
Thank you so much, Christine! The smoky mezcal and soothing chamomile go really well together - the trickiest bit was balancing the flavors. I know we share similar tastes, so I really hope you enjoy this little sipper! All the best and cheers!
Not the Wes Anderson-style shot of running down the stairs with the trash bag. 😂
Amazing video Anders. Brilliant cocktail.
I love mescal. Once I made a cocktail very similar to these, for a cocktail competition back in 2014.
I think the name was ‘Ex Girlfriend’
- 30 ml Mescal
- 30 ml Pisco
- 20 ml Cocci Americano
- 10 ml chamomile syrup
- absinthe rinsed glass
- orange twist
David, this drink looks incredible! Similar flavor profile - and I love the name 😂 Thanks for sharing the recipe - cheers!
Dude, this is my new favorite channel.
ANDERS!!!!! This is beautiful!!!! I can imagine the Chamomile and the Drambuie. Mezcal rinse, great idea!!!
Thanks, Tim! Keeping it simple. It turned out pretty tasty! Cheers my friend!
Wow it was fantastic thank you
Wow, that sounds like it'll be a great cocktail! I'm definitely giving this a go!
Please do - I hope you love it!
Love it!! Funniest video yet!
Thanks, Marley! We had so much fun making this one 😂
So happy I found your channel
This was awesome!
2:00 my exact face after watching some of his crazy cocktail creations!!!
Love that it’s always 5 o’clock at your bar 👌🏻
Great colab! Your drinks both look delicious and great for a hot summer day like today! (Mid 90s here in Wisconsin) Cheers!
Thanks, Cale! Just in time for summer 😉 Cheers!
That looks soooooo delicious!
Brilliant collaboration and fantastic video, my friend. Love it. The cocktail sounds amazing.
Thank you, Georgi! Thought of you when I grabbed the Drambuie. I know you like the stuff! Cheers!
@@AndersErickson I love it. Great choice, and since I have plenty of dry chamomiles, I will try this cocktail.
Love the idea of a little "spirited" competition. Drunk history intro was great too.
When life gives you lemons 🍋 😂 Great challenge and amazing work guys!!
😂 Exactly! Thanks, Wellta - cheers to you!
Wow two fav UA-cam bartenders back to back unbelievable!
Kevin's a favorite of mine too! I appreciate the comment, Vincent. Cheers!
SUPER inventive, going to have to try this one.
Please do! I hope you love it!
That's an amazing idea Anders. You present us some of your personal creativity and skills, intrigue ours and share other talented channels. Yiamas 🍸
I love the use of the lighting in your videos man, I really would like to see a behind the scene!
Damn dude this is some next level content. Everything about this is so dope. And thank you for making a drink that doesn’t require a centrifuge or an ISS whipper or some other crazy gadget.
Thanks, Dominic! It was a fun video to make. Hope you're able to try the drink - super simple. Cheers!
THAT'S JUST THE BEST VIDEO EVER LOOOL HAHAH
Dude. This is insanely good. It was pleasure being a part of this project/collaboration/experiment and I just thought it'll be fun to see how similar or different the cocktails you guys create will be. But even apart from these amazing videos that were made, I'm so happy we got to connect a bit more than just with a comment here or there. I know it'll be an amazing evening when we share some drinks. Cheers.
PS: The Phantom Hand cameo is a nice touch! 😉
PS2: Thanks for the shoutout!
Thank you, Robi! I couldn't agree more - working with you guys was an absolute pleasure. I'm grateful we could connect, and very much looking forward to getting together in person. Cheers to you, my friend!
Wow this video was on another level - this was great 👍🏼
Thanks, Alexander - glad you liked it. Cheers!
Just a heads up, the almighty YT algorithm may have chosen your channel. I subbed a couple days ago after one of your vids popped up in my feed randomly, and I bet I want the only one. Great content, but get ready for 100k real quick 👌
Wow the drink is so pretty!
Hi Andres, I just discovered your channel. Great videos! I love that you appreciate Cocchi Vermouth - I live in Torino with my wife and we have a lot of kinds of Vermouth here and Cocchi is one of our favorite! If you guys come to visit Italy I will be happy to invite you for a drink - or a Vermuth testing.
That sounds wonderful, Dario - thank you for the kind offer. So happy you're enjoying the channel!
So nice to see you team up! I had a good laugh when you tried to go overly complicated to match Kevin's usually scientific approach :D
"My natural instincts told me that yellow ice should be avoided."
This sounds lovely. Great thinking of the mezcal rinse. Vida is so damn smoky it tends to overwhelm unless you’re using really bold flavors. Chamomile infused cocci sounds freaking incredible
That was definitely my issue - balancing out the smoke with the delicate chamomile took some work, but I was happy with the end result! I just had to make some bad drinks to get there 😂
@@AndersErickson well I think you nailed it! Cheers!
Kevin's cocktail is amazing to watch... Anders Cocktail we can do at home: win-win.
Hey Anders just wanna say thank you for all the awesome content I’ve impressed quite a few people with what I’ve learned from you. Had a quick question I noticed you have Campari that’s opened on the bar in the back. I’ve heard that it needs to be refrigerated after opening and also heard the opposite lol. What’s your take?
This was really fun to watch. Watched it because the girl that cuts my hair is named dahlia. Found you from the 15 essentials to have at your home bar (got 'em). really enjoyed this. made me subscribe
Anders, please do another video like this again, it's amazing.
VERY cool idea you guys, and love how you handled the video itself! Different kind of "how I did it" stuff that I really enjoyed!
Agreed! Such a fun video without ever being off topic
Thanks, Zach! 🥃
Hilarious. Great recipe, too. Congrats on 13k. Well, soon enough.
Love how he found the way to balance the chamomile
Thanks, Steve!! Cheers!
This was fantastic, omg the 'pee ice' had me in stitches. What a neat concept for a video though, definitely checking out the other channels too!
Loved how he pulled that together. I'll never "unhear" pee ice when I see anything like that again! 😅
😂 Thank you so much! Definitely check out the other channels - both great guys. Cheers!
When you subscribe last week @11.1k subs and notice there is 15.8k today??? Excited to see your content starting to get the traction it deserves. Really really well done videos!
Thank you, Luke! Appreciate the support - cheers! 🥃
I really enjoyed this video. The process of how you made this was really interesting, especially since you also showed your mistakes and did not go straight to the finished recipe. Good luck with this amazing channel.
Thank you so much! The end result was worth it. Cheers!
Anders, you forgot the fourth member of Team Kevin … Phantom Hand!
“Pee ice” 😂😂😂
Fun!
This is a fun vid. Chrysanthemum is a great drink. This sounds like an awesome low ABV drink. cheers!
Appreciate that, Pete. It was a fun vid to shoot. The cocktail turned out alright too!
Nice collab!
Cheers! 🥃
Great job on 100k the fastest growing channel on UA-cam
Two things: (1) this video series was great, and (2) seeing that Kevin's clock was also at 5:00 made me realize that Anders's clock is set at 5:00 on purpose--before this, I thought that Anders just always filmed at 5:00pm. I'm a bit slow sometimes, lol.
Great video! Where can I buy a glass like that?
Hey Anders, I'd be interested to know what you think of the Costco (or Kirkland brand) alcohols. Just thought itd be cool to see your thoughts on them, and a possible review. Thanks!
Lol genius 🤣😂
a three-for-one video deal? sounds good to me!
Dude how can a channel with only 12k subscribers put out videos this good (although I think you only had 10k yesterday so it seems it's heading the right direction 😉)
Thank you, Fin! Happy you liked the video. Cheers to you!
Cheers to you too Anders! Just made myself a penicillin as per your video and it was BEAUTIFUL 🥂🥃
Hi Anders… congratulations on 10k sub’s!!! Quick question… because I’m living in Canada and is pretty hard to find in ours liquer stores cochi americano….I would like to know what’s good substitutes for cochi ?? Thanks…
Hi Hari! Lillet Blanc would be a suitable substitution, though less bitter on the end than Cocchi Americano. Adding a dash of orange bitters could help. If Lillet Blanc isn't available, you could also try doing the same with a white vermouth. I hope this helps!
@@AndersErickson Lillet blanc is ok. Thanks. I will try today how that works.
Thanks for using metric measurements for European viewers like me.
Cheers!
Definitily sounds like something I would try. Problem is I can't get Cocchii. Will continue to hunt for it!
Oh no! I hope you're able to find some - I'd love for you to try this drink! Good luck and cheers, Stephane!
@@AndersErickson I usually use Lillet with a dash of quinine/wormwood
@@stephane.foisy.186 excellent call!
Ayt! 🍂
Wow the production stepped up massively. Your poor wife having to record you running around. Very entertaining video
He needs his own Netflix show! One of my favorites videos of his!
😂Thanks, Jacob! So happy you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Love the channel, its become my go to when I need to find creative ways to use a less common bottle (one can only drink so many rusty nails). However, the cocktail snob in me has been conflicted since hearing your "eye-lay" pronunciation in a previous video. A sin almost as egregious as calling anything other than gin and vermouth a martini. But today is a day of redemption and I shall doubt no more.
OK Anders. Where can I sign up for the editing class? Beautiful!!!
😂 We could ask you the same thing! This was fun collaboration - I'll be sure to let you guys know when we finally get to Slovenia 🇸🇮
@@AndersErickson I'll sign up for the writing class, front seat, please. Love the cocktail and the whole video, but The Story part was all sorts of amazing! I honestly don't know if I've ever seen a better part of a youtube video. I can't wait for all of us to sit down for a drink a discuss the process of making this episode in detail! Cheers to you and Az. 🥃
Lmao ur funny man
wait, why does ice melt slower when in contact with less alcohol?
Alcohol lowers the freezing point of water (or melting point of ice). So the more alcohol in contact with the ice, the colder the ice needs to be to stay frozen - melting the ice faster. A spirit with less alcohol won't lower the freezing point quite as much. Great question - cheers!
Haha! I am 2:22 into the video and I am chuckling. Science for lazy people! CHUCK INTO FREEZER :)
OK it just got better. yellow snow :)
And what a great looking cocktail Anders. I would love to try that.
Thanks, Erik! Happy you enjoyed the video - hope you get to try the cocktail too! Cheers!
