It's hard to say. Attack on Titan was a massive success in the west. However, by the time of season 2, the hype was a fraction of what it used to be.
Estrogen Fury Yeah, I love KH 1 and 2 (didn’t play any spin offs) but KH3 just disappointed me. The combat gave you too many specials moves- it felt like the game was just playing itself. (Which is a shame because I liked that you could map spells to specific buttons and change between 3 keyblade easily.) And the story was really bad. So many things that needed time to be fleshed out and explained got shoved into the last 10% of the game. And the 90% before that wasn’t interesting. And Kairi had so much build up for zero pay off. I won’t be playing it again anytime soon

Yeah, animation is different but it ain't bad. And for average viewer it won't make a real difference.. biggest drawing changes are made on saitama. Others look kinda the same. Animation sometimes feels different but again it's not bad as everyone making it. Also I don't believe you watched One punch man only because of animation. And as far as plot and comedy goes it is gold. Episode 2-3 promise a better season than 1.

One Punch Man had this huge popularity when it first came out. But like any popular thing, it doesn't last forever.
Executives must've feared that if they kept holding back for long, some bigger show would come and dominate the space One Punch Man once held. I don't agree with the new art style, but I understand why they decided to put it out there.
We should just hope that they make a season 3 with the original director returning back.

If we focus more on praising specific outstanding members of a studio than on praising only the studio or anime itself, we can expect that analysts whose job it is to find out what people want will report a more significant correlation between those members of the studio and the public success of the anime, meaning that the company which owns the studio will be less likely to take those members away from the anime as it might hurt their profitability.

@@AngeliTomato333 That's the thing though Murata's art "moves". There are GIFs showing action scenes from the manga flowing seemlessly after each flip. Murata has an amazing sense of camera angles, movement and impact.
OPM season 2 is really like a PowerPoint with a lot of jump cuts and overuse of still frames
Season 1= A Golden Pegasus flying through parting clouds, shining brilliantly as the sun rays part upon it and one of those beams reach and warms your anime heart
Season 2: This pegasus is named Frank. He has 2 broken wings and is on life support. He randomly either farts or kicks at you. Poor Frank :(

Season 2 is a donkey someone stuck cardboard wings and tries to convince everyone it's the same Pegasus from before. It's also missing an eye.

By the last episode, Frank could have the effort to fly agian, not like the Pegasus but he can hold his own
The animation style is what made OPM so unique. Especially those sketchy quick-paced shots where the illustrator looked like they were in just as much of a hurry as the characters themselves. Really hoping the creative team doesn't do us a huge oopsie-doopsie.

watched 2 eps of the new season... they seem to have switched out voice actors and they seem to have gone with a more cost effective method of animation where they just animated the manga as keyframes and promptly neglected to edit and make things more physics related... There just isn't the same energy as the first season
Which is disappointing for me because Garou in the manga has been a fucking engine and if season 2 had been made a year or 2 later under Madhouse what we could've expected was basically following human Boros for an entire arc.

in the first episode we got introduced to King and Fubuki, in one of the most "in your face" way, sure King's one I like, but fubuki just goddamn pops up without proper introduction
in the second, Fubuki's organization, Garou, and Amai mask, same with fubuki, both garou and amai mask, they just goddamn pops up like it's no big deal

It happened already ~10 years ago when they fucked up Yumekui Merry adaptation (by it being half anime original shit - INVISIBLE TROMBONE, due to not enough material).
The event. Though the animation isn't as good as it was before it's still fun to watch and I'm already interested in the story.
That's why I'm not gettin all the hate on Season 2. The story of Season 2, IMO, is significantly better than Season 1. Animation isn't, but story is 100%. I was shaken by one of the episodes in Season 2. Won't spoil but I never was nearly as shook by what happened in S1. Their animation is still GOOD even, it's not like it's bad unlike *Cough* dragon ball's * cough* was. But there's also a consistent storyline to Follow in Season 2 that Season 1 didn't technically really offer.
Finally someone who doesn't type shit like "The anime is as good as if a kid drew it on PowerPoint" which is stupid because they can't even comprehend of drawing like that.
I also didn't even notice the "Change" in animation, it looked exactly the same as me, Geno's looked more shiny and detailed and Siatama isn't even my favourite character, Fuck Sitama, Garou is the one I'm waiting for.
So, One Punch Man takes the Tokyo Ghoul route. Perfect! One more series to drop.

@Nik3 I'm still willing to give them the benefit of doubt but with this half baked trailer doesn't really give me much hope. I am hoping though the biggest fights have some of the best animation and that's where the majority of the budget went.

The new one punch man animation really isn't that bad. It's lower quality over all but the most recent episode is probably above industry average. Tank top master Vs garou was awesome.
I was pretty unimpressed until then. Too bad it's 3 episodes in.

@@user-rn2lj8kz1u Speak for yourself, I loved OPM's exploration of Saitama as a character who isn't merely an OP plot device but a truly depressed individual. This season has the focus on the side characters to show how Saitama changes them for the better and I love it all the same. There's definitely been a step down but regarding animation quality, watch E10. It's incredible how far they've come.

I thought something was off when I watched the show, but the story seems really good as of yet. Especially in Saitama’s conversations with other characters like King. Not great but ok.

To be fair, in the 90s that's where the budget and best animators were sent to. The Opening.
Though, the English opening is not the same as the Japnese opening of Pokemon. Personally, the show did looked kinda bad even in the 90's. Shows like DBZ and Beserk looked better in my opinion even though I love the Kanto series of Pokemon and is after XY the best in my opinion (but I hate the Jotoh part, 90% was so bad.....)

This is almost *exactly* what happened to Steins;Gate 0. The original team moves on, leaving a sub-par director to slap together what's essentially a cash-in. The result is/will be a bog standard anime affair with hints of something greater hidden beneath the layers of not giving a shit.
Steins;Gate 0 was a VN that had the same lead writers, director, and producer as the original VN.

Im a big fan of yutaka nakamura. He is a god of animation. He animated the fight against overhaul and deku in MHA. He animated some fights in mob psycho and the boros fight in one punch man and he also did the deku vs todoroki. He is PHENOMENAL with impact frames.

I enjoyed the first 2 episodes of season 2. Season 1 was god-tier, so season 2 would always disappoint. Be glad it went to JC Staff - they could have sent it to a much less capable studio, the list is long. I just hope they pull up their socks and turn up the heat on the quality & energy though.
Yeah, the animation really isn't bad. It's definitely taken a dip, but it's a lot better than I was expecting after watching this video.

While I don't disagree being complacent with things like this just because it's "watchable" is a problem there is next to no reason season two shouldn't be held up to season 1s standards and in that regard this season is a flop

@@kronkrian100 Assuming they weren't strained, at any point, which they usually wouldn't be, but then I look back at MHA Season 3's second half (wasn't horrendous, but definitely really rough, and the result of having the show and the movie being worked on at the same time in only 6 months), and I wonder if that would've been the case. There's a reason Season 4 is taking a whole year, versus just 6 months, because now that a second movie's on the way, BONES doesn't want to repeat that, ever again (one of the guys in charge even said, as much).
@@kronkrian100 That said, production's getting better, but we don't know whether all other studios had their animators booked on other things, and JC Staff kind of felt they needed to pick up the slack, I'm not sure, though, this is mostly speculation.
Madhouse and Bones are top tier, it's no wonder the show turned out the way it did with those absolute units working together on it.

I know this video is old but the problem of the second season was its rhythm because it has a horrible conclusion that leaves you with the total feeling that you wasted time watching this (bad animation and terrible effects did not help at all) this second season should have ended with Cosmic Garou vs Saitama not with a shitty centipede.
Season 1: it's about the op main protagonist fighting against monsters in one punch and most of the episodes he is show full
Season 2: *Saitama becoming side character in his own show*
Difference with having a good studio handling an anime:
Boku no Hero - every season just keeps better and better
Because studio BONES knows how to handle the series. Another example is MOB Psycho. They paid homage to ONE's artstyle whilst having badass animation. It boils down to the studio, cause they are the ones who reviews the finished product.

You might not like it, but the shit it has done to the whole shounen genre is huge.
It shows that shounen can just be more than just fights, friendships, and one note characters.
An example of my opinion of this: *I think I rather NEVER get a 2nd Season of "No Game No Life" and keep dreaming than getting a half-assed version somewhere down the line.*

Though I heard the novels had started up again, usually second or third seasons depend on the popularity there is for it in Japan because I guess the west despite having enough people, lacks anyway to give the studio our money easily or effectively. After all these years I would like to hope NGNL will get another season down the line but it probably lacks the hype for a second season in Japan.

I LOVE your viewpoint on appreciating specific animators and people involved in production. I've dropped anime in the past out of hate of the way the animation industry changed in my eyes (I'm sure it never did but rather but I became more aware of the inner workings and honestly.... downright bad animations). But I totally believe putting more connections to people who work EXTREEEMELY hard to produce these works would be so much greater for the community.

Hello Jeff!! This video is still getting people to look into animators, producers, directors, and studios etc. Watching so many videos on One Punch Man's Philosophy, and learning about literature might even be what has just led me to find my purpose in life right now! Lol. Please continue to encourage people to do this in your videos, and I will as well!
The freelancers at Madhouse are some of the best animators in the world. I hear they did not want to do One Punch Man again, but whatever project they decided to do, I'd love to know what it is. I bet it looks just as amazing as One Punch Man.
But yeah, my expectations for One Punch Man definitely got shot down. All of my friends actually agree the second season looks fine, which is why I sometimes dislike noticing stuff like this. I wish I could just blindly enjoy it like they do. It seems their allure toward the series was more so because of its charm, rather than its finer detail. Which isn't a bad thing.
JCS has, so far, produced one episode of comparable animation quality. I am only hoping for the best as we approach the final fights. The last one should for sure rival Madhouse at worst and surpass it at best. But, my hopes for the latter are very, very low. Even a bit at the former. Though, you're right in that they've made great anime. High Score Girl is one of my most recent favorites from them.
Still, I love this series a lot for how it manages to handle the fighting. Making the main character the most powerful is absurd, but unique. And it always makes you look forward to how they're going to use him. I only wish the best for One Punch Man. If another season is made, it should have much better overall animation quality.
Also, I completely forgot how amazing the soundtrack was in the first season. Hearing that piano song in the video really brought back some amazing memories.
Its a real shame how bad One Punch Man looks. Atleast Mob Psycho's season 2 lives up to the original.

I like that this Video isn't about One Punch Man in general, but about animation studios and animators.
I'm actually one of the few people that is still hyped for OPM 2 but I'm kinda sad that, in comparison, it looks so bad like you mentioned. I will still watch, and if it sucks, I'm gonna read the manga and miss season one of epic animation.
The manga's actually great and really enjoyable. Prolly one of the only ones I've read so good it almost makes me not care if it's animated.

OPM's first season was too good. After it anything could only disappoint,... and thats why this bad trailer came to be. Sure, season 2 is probably not as good as the first, but by lowering the bar first with this shitshow of a trailer they probably try to lower the expectations enough to make it enjoyable for most viewers.

Eh, I prefer if Bones pick up OP. Madhouse quality post season 1 isn't good either. Look at Overlord, S1 the animation was on par with OP and Mob, than S2 and S3 the animation drop to average quality.
