Kalita Wave is very popular in Asia, especially for lightly roasted beans.
    Few things to note:
    1. Kalita Wave has slower flow rate. Change your grind if needed
    2. Nice for lightly roasted beans. It gives you better sweetness and balance. V60 will give too much sourness for lightly roasted beans.
    3. Use small dose of coffee. In Japan they often use 14-16g of beans with brew ratio of around 1:18
    4. Divide your pours into 4-5 small pours of around 50mL water of each pour.
    5. Control the brew time within 3:30
In fact it is more recommended for beginners because it is not really affected by pouring technique.

Interestingly, noticed that in Japan, the Kalita Wave seems to be way more popular. I saw it used in many cafes but I don't think I saw even one Hario V60 in the cafes I went to. I also stayed at an air bnb for one night and the woman who lived there made me a coffee in the morning with her Kalita wave dripper and carafe.

Kalita supremacy!!! Kalita wave is definitely my favorite brewer - I jump back and forth between the origami and the Kalita. I agree that the Kalita tends to give a rounder brew and elevate sweetness a bit more, which is what I usually prefer with the types of beans I buy. I also find that it’s more forgiving and brews taste pretty consistent day to day - the origami is more finicky to me but still produces a really delicious cup

Haven't gotten to use the origami much but enjoyed the cups I got out of it. Honestly was surprised I ended up liking the Kalita as much as I did after having used the v60 sooo much.

I am in the same boat. I often default to the v60, or more recently the StaggX.
The blue bottle dripper is very good as well, and it brews very much like the kalita wave.

It's always good to do side by side comparisons to check your assumptions! Are you using a ceramic kalita wave or a plastic one?
I've been using the Orea v3 recently over my v60. The big difference I've noticed is that the orea v3 is easier to get consistent results with and easier to brew tastier cups with less coffee grinds (higher ratios). I think that has something to do with the lower bypass.

Yup, in my barista days I worked a pourover bar that was only v60 all day long, so I tend to default to it! Both the v60 and kalita in the video are ceramic.

Nice, simple video; although, I would like to see you branch outside of the coffee echo chamber and explore other coffee topics worth discussing.

    Youve gotta borrow my orea!
Super fast flowrate, almost no bypass if you get the filter in place.

For flat bottom, definitely love the Orea v3
