Oh wow Benji is looking so good! He seemed to be in almost too much pain to move in the first video but now he is feeling so much better. You are just a miracle worker for these little guys. I hope Conner and Benji continue to get along, they make quite a pair.
they are both very cute I would adopt them both together immediately because my last guinea pig passed away a few months ago but sadly i live way to far away in europe. But i have no doubt they will find a good home together soon
I remember when I got a groomer (for piggies) to bathe/dry/haircut my Peruvian piggy for the first time since I got her (wanted to see how it was done before I did it) and when using the hairdryer, you could hear the sound of her complainer squeaks VERY LOUDLY over the hair dryer haha 😂 they're overly dramatic
Rub a dub dub 2 piggies in a tub!! Its amazing how quickly they recover and turn around with just a small amount of effort and a bit of time. These 2 are handsome boys and I hope they'll find a deserving home.

Oh, what precious babies! I can't wait to see updates, I love happy endings! So glad that the ringworm is clearing up, I know they don't like it, but I know they'll feel better, and get better together! Love you guys!
They are so cute and you are so sweet to them.. i also use lavender on my paoriasis and it actually helps a little with the itch and it is known to be a calming scent ❤️ they ar so wel behaved
I'm really happy to see how good Benji is doing, I hope you can bond them, it looks low they could be really good fiends. Saskia, how is Isaac doing? He looked so sick when you got him 😥😢
Isaac was doing great till he wasn't. We had his molars trimmed, his abscesses taken care of, he was eating by himself again but just became so skinny. His organs likely failed.
I just gave a bath to our 11 weeks old Cuy named Karl. I’m suspecting that he has ringworm behind one ear. He actually did not so bad I was expecting a real disaster handling him. I gave him cbd paste in his mouth an hour before maybe that helped.
Hi Saskia! Can you recommend a shampoo in a much smaller bottle? I only have two piggy's and since they only need to be bathed twice a year or if they get really dirty for some odd reason or contract ringworm, etc. That size shampoo would hardly never get used. Thanks in advance
Hey Saskia, you do such an amazing job. Would like to ask your opinion on some 8wk old babies we got. Im pretty sure that two of them have ringworm starting. If I bath in head and shoulders and put on the athlete foot cream, how often do I do it? thanks in advance xxx
In Germany if you say you give a piggy a bath, people will start to attacking you like crazy. How ever I tried it with the shampoo on one and one I treated like always. Sure enough the one I gave baths to got better so much faster. So thank you soooo much.
How often do you bathe one with ringworm? My baby guinea pig has a small spot on her snout and I don’t know if I should give her a full on bath and just work with that small area. Also, I have another who doesn’t have ringworm but should I worry about her getting it as well?
Here is all the info Courtney What is ringworm? Ringworm is fairly common in guinea pigs so don’t freak out! It is a fungus that often presents on the outside and inside of the ears, around the eyes and on the nose. Though it can appear anywhere on their body it is most often discovered in those areas. It is the same as Athlete’s Foot in humans. Ringworm most often does not require veterinary assistance and simple over the counter creams and shampoo can clear it up. It is highly contagious however, so wash your hands after touching the guinea pig and wear an apron of some sort to prevent spores clinging to your clothing. Where do they get it from? They can get it from another infected guinea pig but it can also develop in a guinea pig that has not had any recent interactions with other animals at all. They simply carry the spores with them and in times of stress or a diminished immune system the fungus can get the overhand. This sometimes happens in a cage with two animals living together. Only one will get the fungus and the other animal remains totally unaffected. (The same goes for lice and mites) How do you treat it? 1) Any anti dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulders, Nizoral etc. Though if the infestation is bad we recommend buying this shampoo “Davis Miconazole” you can get it at Amazon - amzn.to/2LY7n8K 2) Over the counter medicated athlete’s foot cream SHAMPOO - First of all wash the guinea pig the medicated anti dandruff shampoo Put a small towel in the sink to prevent slipping and use lukewarm water, lather them up real good and let the shampoo sit for 2 minutes and then rinse. You must wash the face and ears also. Make sure to pay special attention to the affected areas and rub the shampoo into the skin. Most guinea pigs do not like to be bathed but this is something that needs to be done. After you towel dry the animal really well you must blow dry them. Never put a wet or damp guinea pig back in its cage. It will take a long time before they dry by themselves. They will get catch a cold and get sick. Do this for once weekly for three weeks. CREAM - Apply the cream directly on the affected area and make sure you really press the cream into the skin where the fungus is located. Do this twice daily for three weeks. I have other guinea pigs do I treat them too? Yes and no. If they are not showing signs of the fungus then there are obviously no spots to put a cream. However, you do want to shampoo them with the anti dandruff medicated shampoo to make sure they stay healthy. You should only do that once or twice in the three weeks it takes to treat an infected guinea pig. Do I need to disinfect the cage? I have found that treatment of the individual animal(s) is enough. Though it never hurts to disinfect a cage. Use part water and part bleach. Let it soak for a few minutes and rinse off really well.
You don't need to unless they can't clean themselves. You have to make sure the water goes up to their neck, but not so much so they have to stretch to keep their head above the water.
Do they need the agri pectin for keeping them alive? My pig gots it like nails but is no where strong like nails. I barely moved him for a treatment and he feel to his twice I had to keep him sitting up got my oxygen matching I keep it near his nose but not high and not too close. I really need this med right? Besides the daily treatments how often can they bath with ring worm.
Isaac was doing great till he wasn't. We had his molars trimmed, his abscesses taken care of, he was eating by himself again but had became so skinny. His organs likely failed
Do you ever catch ringworm handling pigs with it? My daughter adopted ours from PetSmart and she caught it even after washing her hands each time bc he scratched her neck b4 we knew he had ringworm. Then I had to treat the guinea pig for a month with oral meds and treat my daughter with topical meds and wash the pig’s fleece daily. Of course I ended up getting it after they both cleared up even tho I was super careful to shower after cleaning his cage or his meds😓 4 mos later I still feel like there’s spores all over my house and worry about my cats ans dog getting it and I am SUPER nervous when my daughter holds him now and I make her shower right after. You seem so calm around ringworm, that’s why I was wondering if you ever caught it!!! 😖
Yes I did but only 1 time when we took in a huge group that had ringworm. She was likely cuddling the piggie close to her chest and neck and the spores got plenty advantage. What is ringworm? Saskia from Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue thank u for answering! I knew all this info u replied with and i want to say as living proof...YOU CAN CATCH RINGWORM DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT AND FOLLOWING ALL THE INFO YOU PASTED IN Your COMMENT. I am amazed u only caught it once but yet my daughter and and i caught it from one guinea pig and our exposure to it was less than i see in ur videos. I understand that I let her cuddle with the guinea pig only after she showed me a video of you letting one cuddle in in ur jacket and nuzzle it...then she got rw. But i don’t understand how i caught it, i am ur age and i handled one guinea pig less than u do and i was so careful of washing hands after treating it for rw for a month. I was in shock when it showed up on my back after her and her gp finally cleared up after meds. I felt so contaminated and defeated. I just can’t seem to get over the fear of the spores now as I have peeling between my toes 4 months after everyone’s ringworm was gone and 50 cans of lysol and a new vacuum cleaner. And i am an ocd clean freak! When i watch ur vids i am in awe how u dont catch rw! I think more super clean people have this happen they are just scared to talk about it.
Also lol i did not return the guinea pig after we found out he had ringworm, i did all the vet visits myself and spent $1000 + on his meds and our cleaning products and having to replace all the stuff we bought from petsmart. I will never go there again. 7 months later i just got athlete’s foot i never had it in my life...im super clean im sure it’s a spore from this guinea pig. Ringworm is nothing to mess with. We will not be getting anymore rodents, this has ruined the comfort of my own home and all of 2019 since her guinea pig xmas Christmas gift ! I’ve done everyong i was supposed to and it keeps biting me in the ass, i’ll keep her guinea pig but it’s ringworm has ruined my brain bc of worrying and spores, and it’s still present after 7?months of cleaning like a crazy person, not worth it. 😓Just being honest. If one person can read this and save themself heartbreak and mental trauma, ringworm is awful!!! The more you clean and follow the rules the stronger it gets in my experience.
Hi Saskia they are cute piggies ❤ Is it true they can pickup mite's from the wood bedding mine scratching every now and then! But everyone I've had does that . Thanks for the vid ❤🐹
Well I think if I had to crawl around on wood shavings all day I would probably get an itch on occasion to. Constant scratching, bald spots, crusty or flaky skin, red or raw patches are things you want to keep an eye out for.
@@ScottysAnimals appreciate ya ! I due my health checks everyday & something they love is being brushed. LOL U & Saskia are my go to . Unless we have emergency & for that we have 24 hour Vett . U guys are the best . Thanks ❤
@@mszoomy it doesn't come to that & I'm a foster ! For years now . I was asking because I heard about bedding containing mite's & it's good to freeze aspirin before use & same for Carefresh as well & theirs always Head and Shoulders bath . My Vett also uses the drops on the ear's. I see your point & it's true . It makes me it's itch when I use it . As far as fleece ! It would cost me a small fortune being My cage is 14 ft long by 7ft wide. I use fleece for the babies that I take in ! Always appreciate info thanks ✌
@@just4kicks950 sorry, I didn't realize you were so familiar, I'm used to people who are clueless I guess. I had also heard the same thing about getting mites from shavings, I think that's a, what do you call it, an old wives tale? Something people thought was true for so long that it became accepted as fact. Fleece cam be expensive initially for sure but it more than pays for itself in the long run. I got sick of throwing my money away every week, and lugging around 50# bales of shavings, I'm too old for that nonsense.
Isaac was doing great till he wasn't. We had his molars trimmed, his abscesses taken care of, he was eating by himself again but he had become so skinny. His organs likely failed
That really breaks my heart to hear that. I was hoping that he was going to pull through. I know you did the best for him. You and your team does amazing job for each and everyone of these Guinea pigs.
I miss my pigs. I had four. We recently moved and I lost my youngest a few days after we moved them to the new place. I lost another one a week later. It was my oldest. I lost the third one a week later which was the one I've had since it was able to be away from mom. Then I lost my last one a few days after that. I don't know why they past. Do you have any idea why they died?
Oh wow Benji is looking so good! He seemed to be in almost too much pain to move in the first video but now he is feeling so much better. You are just a miracle worker for these little guys. I hope Conner and Benji continue to get along, they make quite a pair.
They are so calm during bath time! My pigs jump up on me, on my neck and anywhere but the bath! I think I come out of bath time wetter than the pigs!
thisisAlexandra why are you bathing them?
@@nunyabusiness1773 Because guineapigs need bathing 2 to 3 times a year. Check saskias bathing video.

Here is all the info Courtney
What is ringworm?
Ringworm is fairly common in guinea pigs so don’t freak out!
It is a fungus that often presents on the outside and inside of the ears, around the eyes and on the nose. Though it can appear anywhere on their body it is most often discovered in those areas. It is the same as Athlete’s Foot in humans. Ringworm most often does not require veterinary assistance and simple over the counter creams and shampoo can clear it up.

(The same goes for lice and mites)
How do you treat it?
1) Any anti dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulders, Nizoral etc. Though if the infestation is bad we recommend buying this shampoo “Davis Miconazole” you can get it at Amazon - amzn.to/2LY7n8K
2) Over the counter medicated athlete’s foot cream
SHAMPOO - First of all wash the guinea pig the medicated anti dandruff shampoo
Put a small towel in the sink to prevent slipping and use lukewarm water, lather them up real good and let the shampoo sit for 2 minutes and then rinse.
I was afraid to fully bath my piggies. Is it ok to get water inside their ears?
You don't need to unless they can't clean themselves. You have to make sure the water goes up to their neck, but not so much so they have to stretch to keep their head above the water.

Isaac was doing great till he wasn't. We had his molars trimmed, his abscesses taken care of, he was eating by himself again but had became so skinny. His organs likely failed
Benji looks great! He'll be all healed in no time.
Conner was like "I'm outta here!" He was so cute jumping out of the bath like that.
What are they eating in the beginning?
Parsley sprigs
Do you ever catch ringworm handling pigs with it? My daughter adopted ours from PetSmart and she caught it even after washing her hands each time bc he scratched her neck b4 we knew he had ringworm.
Saskia told me that it is just something they carry but it comes out if they are not well
Well I think if I had to crawl around on wood shavings all day I would probably get an itch on occasion to.
How is Isaac doing can you post on update video of him please. Thank you.
Christine Langford he died :(
Awww so sad that breaks my heart :(
Isaac was doing great till he wasn't.

Does Benji remind someone of a bever?????
Who's famous kitchen is this? :)
After the 3rd bath and no more crust, is ringworm gone and therefore no longer contagious to humans?
Correct - I dare say that 1 week into the treatment they are not contagious anymore.
Sombody knows how often I have to give the bath to the ringworm pig?
I miss my pigs. I had four. We recently moved and I lost my youngest a few days after we moved them to the new place. I lost another one a week later. It was my oldest. I lost the third one a week later which was the one I've had since it was able to be away from mom. Then I lost my last one a few days after that. I don't know why they past. Do you have any idea why they died?
annabelle haynes are you giving them veggies, hay and water? Are you keeping their cage clean? What temperature do you keep your home at?
Isn’t the ringworm contagious?
Yes

U shouldn’t wash their faces because it could go into their ears and people say not to really wash their faces anyways. But also they are so cute!
Ummm, what people? Saskia has been doing this for 20 years. I think thst qualifies her as an expert.
Do not have more than 2 minutes to stay in water.
