Thank you southwest crews you are my no1 airline. will always fly with you see you in July. To all American you want good airline fly southwest the best and so helpful.
I love to see that snow dust up like crazy when they pull on those T/Rs!! Nice job y'all. This video shows why Chicago is a fantastic city from May up to September!
Had this happen to friend and I in Chicago. Visibility was pretty bad that morning tried three landings then they diverted us to St Louis to refuel then head back to Chicago. Will say Southwest rocked and held all our connecting flights and we made it to our destination all be late but got us there.
I agree. The conditions were far from ideal, and, as you know, MDW is no easy landing to begin with for these mainline aircraft. The pilots on this flight were very good.
A few years back girlfriend and I were coming back from Ft. Myers on a southwest flight to Midway at night in February. This was just a few years after a similar southwest plane had ran off the same short runway and crashed thru midway airport fence onto Halsted avenue and hit a car sitting at a stoplight and killing a little boy. This incident was all on our minds after what I describe next. Snowstorm had cleared out but runways were icy and the most terrible ever fog layer. We actually landed on runway, pilot saw we were overshot and took off again like touch &go. Tried a second time after getting airborne again, did go around and landed a second time on runway then took off again. We overshot front of runway again. I felt like we couldn't stop or pilot saw we would not have enough room on slippery runway , the feel of the rumbling of the runway, and the serious shaking and throttle up full thrust trying to get airborne again. We all started getting nervous at this point once back up in the air. Pilot came over loudspeaker and said due to the poor visibility, like pilot did here, he had trouble seeing until the last second touchdown were were too far from start of runway. He said we would try one more go around, and if we could not do it, we were going to divert somewhere across the lake at another airport in Michigan. That third attempt there were some screams and praying that we would finally stop as we felt what seemed like the reverse thrusters were on forever. Whew, we stopped finally at farthest end of that runway and we had some serious drinks in the airport before we got on our bus home.
I flew in 2018 the first flight was from omaha to Chicago midway and there was turbulence due to thunderstorms and they approached Chicago midway fast and they had to slam on the breaks once we were on the ground at Chicago midway
Yes I agree but as a flight crew memeber of a major airline I can tell yo uthat sometimes things are so busy on the cockpit there is no time to talk to the passengers
last time i was at Chicago midway in June my plane was on a holding pattern due to Former US President Barack Obama landing there anyway our plane arrived on time instead of arriving 30 minutes early and the airport was a mess when landing

Having lived there for two years, I agree whole heartedly!

I'm half Chicagoan, on my mother's side!
He stuck that like a champ.
Yeah, that's not the first time those guys did a go around at MDW and then got nothing but 10s from the judges when he stuck the landing!!
Gotta love pilots. Great video!
+Jade Wilson Thank you!

wow we have some amazing pilots.
+terrell pinnick Indeed. These are a couple of great ones.
I learned to fly at that airport 30 years ago. That was one impressive short landing considering patchy snow on the runway.

Southwest airlines is great airline to fly and is highly recommended to fly. See you soon SWA!
Great communication of whats going on by the Captain. Been on flights where things happen and silence from the flight deck.
+David Ea I completely agree. The Captain was great. Very thorough and calm in his explanation.

Sometimes we don't talk because we are, you know, busy.
Thanks for those maps at the end.
If the Field was bigger and had longer runways it would sure take the stress off the pilots how on earth flights land there is amazing
Nice video!
Thanks!
Visibility is important when Landing a aircraft
MDW runways 04R 13C, and 22L all have about the same landing minimums, and 31C has the best, which is what it looks like they landed on..
On February 11th, my flight from ROC to TPA was diverted to CLT because of a medical emergency
Who cares?
Very cool! I was tracking that flight and listening to atc when that happened!
Kinda rude, dont ya think?
Looking out across that wing makes me wonder....
Where's William Shatner and the Gremlin?
Anyone that gets this reference is showing their age.
I was pissed that one day I did not get a drink on the first plane due to turbulence
When there is turbulence flight attendants will walk about the cabin
was ashley smith the flight attendant that sounds like her
Don’t think so
Where did the flight come from?
St. Louis
Nice
+Cyril Uebbing Thanks!
what was your seat number?
+Daniel Lin Probably 10F or 12F.
