Flying out of Chicago has been one of my favorite experiences in life and as a kid was one of my best memories (mostly because it meant vacation) but flying up and seeing the city before I went to a place like Disney was such a magical and exciting experience as a child. I’ll always remember being with my family on planes.
My beautiful Chicago
going there in a few days :D
My favorite city. Going back next month.
so for those who dont know, the prevailing breeze in chicago comes from the SW, so it's standard that a lot of flights coming from the west have to overfly the airport, then go out over Lake michigan and turn to come back into the airport from the northeast. hence the great downtown views on approach!
Why? The wind on the planes tail makes it that much harder to land?
@@PatOD75 planes always try to take off and land into the wind because it creates additional lift, allowing for shorter takeoff runs, and lower airspeeds for landings. It is also a lot easier to control the plane during those two most critical flight phases, using a headwind. (during landings, you don't want to be pushed along the runway, and possibly overrun it!)
@@PatOD75planes always want to take off and land facing the wind for more air over the wings for better lift. This goes for aircraft carriers also. They will turn to ship into the wind when launching and recovering planes
Yup. I love in CA and Everytime I fly into Midway going back to Ohio we always fly over the city then our over the lake and do a u turn into O'Hare. O'Hare is cool because you can have 3 planes all coming in next to each other at once
A lot of the weather here in central California and south of us comes from SF and blows southeast so you see the runways here in Fresno facing nw/SE to fly into it and all the so cal runways are usually directly east west or pretty close
I plan on flying to Los Angeles on Southwest and will connect through this airport. Look forward to the magnificent views.
I LOVE Watching These Videos.I LOVE ❤️ TO See Views Of Beautiful CHICAGO From Above!!
I ALMOST got that view a year ago but I ended up getting stuck in a stupid aisle seat. My original flight from AUS to DTW (with connection at MDW) was cancelled due to an ice storm in Central Texas so I had to change my flight to a different day. I ended up with a late boarding group so by the time I was able to board, all the good seats were taken!
Beautiful Chicago ❤️👍😊
I’ve only flown into Midway once over 20 years ago but unfortunately we didn’t fly this route in.
Chicago is just massive. Goodness!!!
