    One of the most amazing features that DJI has developed is their A.P.A.S (Advanced Pilot Assistance System) obstacle avoidance technology. This keeps your drone safe when flying, by constantly analyzing the environment around the drone to locate solid objects and then charting a path through them. The new DJI Air 3 drone used A.P.A.S. 5.0 and n this video I show you just how good this system really is. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

    An important think to note Rick, is this APAS won't work on waypoint mission. During a waypoint mission, if it detects an obstacle, it will simply do a RTH. I've seen this happen over 10 times.

      I got a mini 3 pro. although it's fantastic but it's got the APAS 4 not the 5. and also no side sensors . so careful when panning right or left ... sideways panning is risky unless you have the drone in sight.

      I always like to push the boundaries to test the gear and you can trust the APAS system. Even if you don't take it to this extreme, it's good to know it can really protect your drone. I'll have more content posting soon and hope that you'll stop back and sub. Thanks, Rick

      APAS doesn't work in the dark. Its based on normal vision. No Infrared or lidar. I'm guessing future iterations of DJI drones will progress to this naturally. I can imagine them implementing IR illuminators for longer range detection and maybe a pro version with Lidar for much better accuracy with the trade off being much lower range.

      Thanks for the post and we have a 65W charger on dronevalley.com that works well. If you want a larger one, we’ll have a new 140W model available in a few weeks that provides 2 65W ports and it’ll be less expensive than the DJI 100W model.

    I’d like to know how well these DJI drones will perform out at sea. I have the DJI Mini 3 Pro and when I set to tracking large yachts, it loses the yacht after about 20 secs or less???

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  Рік тому

      Tracking boats are a little more tricky than following people because there are "profiles" the drone can recognize for people, animals, cars and general. I've seen the same thing the few times I've tried to track boats, especially if they're moving quick. Be sure to keep an eye on the drone to make sure it's still chasing you!

    Does it use Occusync 3
    What is the range
    How long is the flight time
    How many cameras does it have?
    Does it have Zoom? If so what the optical and digital zoom?
    Can I trade my Mavic 2 Zoom in to get this?

      That great range. It's too bad that the official distance is line of site. After all we all know where our drone is. Just look down at the display and you will see the information it gives us. If that isn't enough just open the map and there it is.@@theone2be33

    I feel like both passes it got to a point where it couldn't go forward anymore and it couldn't navigate out, so you just backed it out. But you never actually said it got stuck and couldn't find a way forward? Those are they types of things we need to hear, not just all positive info.

    • @MattysRCWorld
      @MattysRCWorld Рік тому

      It doesn't matter. If it gets to a point where there is absolutely nowhere for it to go, your stuck either way ...he had no choice but to back it out? The point of this was to show how easily it bypasses such small branches and trees

    Do one with it verse Skydio2

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  Рік тому

      I did and the Skydio drone wouldn't even go into the woods. That drone is designed to large area avoidance and is incredibly conservative in how close it will bet to an object. The Air 3 has a better understanding of how big it is and can navigate in tighter spaces/

    • @MikeNovelli
      @MikeNovelli Рік тому

      @@Dronevalley I think more do the Skydio2 is designed to be autonomously flown.
      Can you do a tracking mode and test it also? Like have yourself followed around some obstacles. Maybe get on a bike and see how well it can keep up...

  • @CanhotoArmamentista
    @CanhotoArmamentista 3 місяці тому

    9 months later I told you all: don’t trust in APAS. my drone crashed into a huge and totally visible obstacle.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 місяці тому

      I've had no issues with APAS and use it often. The one challenge it has is dealing with small obstacles like wires or small branches. It also needs to see "contrast" so it can determine a solid object. If you fly in darker areas or places with a lot of shadows it can get confused.

  • @dalewiley9208
    @dalewiley9208 Рік тому

    Interesting. But I'm not buying a new drone because it has a better obstacle avoidance system. I need significantly improved photo quality. And this ain't it.
