      I think nowadays there are too boring models without too many novelties. Identical panels, identical shortcuts, identical specs. Just the OLED higher peaks in small windows ( but probably with the same or worse burn in times ) and the Bravia 9 can be talked about.
      As long as no big change occurs (new OLED chemistry that allows high peaks at a big window) or almost microLED level, next years will be boring…

    I have been watching your videos for years, Vincent. Your videos a few years ago are the reason I got a C1 for my PS5 and Series X. Yes, I also used your videos to calibrate both consoles and the TV itself once I got it. I am now a PC Master Race and own a Samsung 49" G9 OLED. Would enjoy a video calibrating a version of it. I know it is technically a gaming monitor, but it has Tizen OS in the G95SC model for smart TV features so you could get away with it for your channel. Thank you for all that you do.

    I've got an lg c1 and recently bought an s90c for my bedroom.
    Both beautiful tvs, but I'll give the Sammy a slight win for snappiness and brightness. The colours pop, even in filmaker mode.
    I always felt the LG was just a tad to dim, but i have zero complaints with the sammy.
    Both TVs just seem to work, as intended, and PC gaming on either is fantastic.
    Would love to see an honest review of the LG C4 v S90C.

      @ratzkykim4204 21 день тому

      I have a C1 right now and will buy a new tv tomorrow. 2 questions
      1. in gaming, it’s not true that samsung suffers from motion clarity?
      2. is there a big jump from C1 to S90C?

    • @garysgreat1
      @garysgreat1 21 день тому

      @ratzkykim4204 Hi. I can't really comment on motion clarity.
      I'm a casual gamer, but playing RDR 2, looks great on the S90C. Certainly as good as the C1.
      I wouldn't say the S90C is a massive upgrade.
      The PQ on the C1 is still outstanding (in my eyes anyway)
      What you will notice, is a faster O/S and a noticeably brighter screen. Especially in SDR. The colours appear to pop more too. Especially Reds but this could be a Samsung thing??
      I think if you want an absolute upgrade over the C1, you'd need to look at the S95D or LGG4.
      I needed a second decent tv for my bedroom and the S90C was going for a great price.
      If I have one real negative, I'd say low quality SD content doesn't look as good on the S90C.

I’d always choose motion clarity over good brightness accuracy and even the 60 Hz flicker is better than bad motion clarity for me, so I wish that information to be represented in your reviews again. I just got a B4, I chose it over the C4 on purpose because I'm using it in a very dark room. The B4 gets plenty bright enough in peak brightness for me, it's pretty uncomfortable actually in some scenes in films already. Alien with the flashing lights or the flames really close to the camera are super bright. I set the Judder to 2, 3 was too much but 2 was just right I found. In dolvy vision I let it default to Game optimisation, the picture was a little brighter and input delay was much better. Like the C4 though there is a green tint when vieweing off angle, it's only on the edges unless you go way out of angle but it's still there. Only cost me £899.

    I see that the 2024 LG OLEDs are still dim in Game Optimizer for SDR and HDR. That has been a problem for years and LG still has not corrected it.
    That’s why I got rid of the C1 and replaced it with a S90C. LG grays out almost every picture optioin in Game Optimizer (including screen brightness) which dulls the picture but that is not an issue with a QD-OLED.

    Please keep showing dark uniformity using moving video like the Dune movie clip in this review. It's much easier to see the vertical banding this way compared to the static 5% gray slides after youtube compression is applied. Raising awareness of such uniformity issues is the best way to get manufacturers to improve it.
    Regarding VRR flicker - the issue is definitely not universal among all consumer TVs. Some LCDs (Bravia 9 for example) do not show it. I have not seen any OLED TVs or monitors without it.

    Why did you not talk about the new dithering algorithm in 2024 WOLED TVs?

    • @gnaurai6251
      @gnaurai6251 5 днів тому

      @@Bigtymer781 There is none if you have a TV that uses LG's WOLED 2024 panels, i've seen another brands' "Meta 2.0" TV have the same exact problem. I didn't find anything that can turn it off in the unlocked service menu.
      LG also ported CPC from their awful monitors to their TVs now, which adds a vignetting effect on images that have large zones of gray. It can be reduced in the adjust service menu(use colorcontrol new version) but not entirely disabled, you either use FILMMAKER(ISF too???) which for an unknown reason isn't affected and get more latency or you use game optimizer but have a forced vignetting effect on images with large areas of samey color.
      QD-OLED has the same flickering problem on QD-OLED monitors that use Samsung panels, but not as bad as on LG-based 2024 TVs because they use a vertical brighter/dimmer pattern and the threshold is low enough i only see it on dark scenes when moving camera in game.
      I just hope LG fixes everything with 2025 models...

    • @gnaurai6251
      @gnaurai6251 5 днів тому

      @@Bigtymer781 I tried to make a large comment but it seems it has been deleted by YT.
      Basically the answer is there's nothing that can be done for TV that use 2024 WOLED panel, there is no option in service menu and LG also put CPC which adds a vignetting effect outside of FILMMAKER and maybe ISF modes.
      QD-OLED monitors have it better, they use brighter dimmer vertical patterns rather than on off checkerboards and the threshold is much lower. In fact WOLED can flicker on brighter than expected colors because it's the end subpixel illumination value that determines if it will flicker and they correct white balance by having the other subpixels slightly lit to correct it.
      Hope this helps.

    Odd how he keeps calling the CX a 600 nit display when every other outlet has it as a 800 nit display. That’s where it seems to clip in every clipping test I’ve tried as well. What’s the deal there?
    Also I’m curious what he thinks about pushing up the color setting on the tv (or using digital vibrance or and color saturation setting) to improve the duller colors in game optimizer mode. I heard it causes clipping with colors but I find it looks close enough to a native display with brighter colors to not matter…

    Am I crazy... or is his voice audio AI generated? There's a robotic sound to it, both in the quality of the audio (some sort of digital echo) and in his cadence/delivery. It sounds like when you use a sample of someone's voice to feed into an AI generated TTS. It's especially noticeable for numbers and things like "vs" at the very end that sound completely out of place and not like his normal cadence. There even seems a difference between the rest of the video and the video of him recording that ad copy.
    If it's not AI generated then I wonder what caused it to sound that way.
