Not only picking styles, they both have a totally different playing style, use totally different gear set up but yet manage to make them work perfectly together
Yes, they have different picking techniques: Mick has great attack, Jim has weak attack. It’s hilarious that people in comments hypothesize how unique they are, while only difference is: strong guitarist vs. weak, illustrative example.
@@Alex19II you have no idea what you're talking about. Jim has a more effeciant picking style, allowing him to play incredibly fast solos and other leads. Mick has more attack because he's a rhythm based guitarist, and the mix requires a heavier attack on the rhythm front. You're obviously not a guitar player and if you are, you're just jealous that Jim is infinitely better than you will ever be.
When you play riffs, you HAVE to attack normally. Not flabbily rub a pick around the string. He also anchors fingers of right hand to guitar body and sometimes attacks near neck pickup. It’s all mistakes leading to his signature lame sound. But power of Mick saves and masks everything.
any guitarist who is not deaf and is capable of playing a "simple" riff clearly and with articulation would say that Jim is weak and sloppy "guitarist". I can not realise how it is possible that a lot of guys here in comments can not hear this. The only explanation is that they are even worse "guitarists" than Jim. And Mick is really great.
