I worked at a stereo shop in san jose and we had this quad box. We replaced the subs with the Q series L7s and it slapped hard.. Very nice for a pre fab..
@@unkowntrooper1657 it’s hard to tell because they’re square. Each corner has adds an extra few centimeters or half inch. So the 12” inch L7’s are gonna look and hit like 15’s. And the 15’s are gonna hit like 18’s. But I’m always going for the 12’s because the bass will travel further than the 10” or 15” L7’s. Even though the 15’s hit harder and louder. They just don’t travel like the 12’s if u get what I’m saying. Always go smaller subs in smaller trunks so they can breathe and flex.
i forgotten how them boys sound. Years and Years ago i had the 1st gen of the 12" L7's on the ZR1000 and it always turned heads. They have a very distinct sound to them unlike regular circle subs. Kicker lovers know what i mean. It's just an unique and that sound just took me wayyyy back to a better time.
Probably about 12 or so years ago,my dad had 8 12” L7’s in a 2000 f250. Til this day I haven’t heard anything quite like that. It took a forklift and 4 people to put the box in the truck.

@Loud_n_low Taco yea I seen them. When u buy kicker you're jus paying for the name..their subs are expensive and have low rms rating or atleast to me ..I ordered 2 skar vxf 15s yesterday for around 600 dollars with a 3k rms rating for the pair but they can handle much more..

That Kicker Quad Box is amazing!! It hits a 152db and those are only 600rms subwoofers. Just imagine if he put the new Kicker L7X 2000rms 3inch coil subwoofers in that box. He probably be hitting a 160db no wall in that prefab box!😎👍

They're fine. You don't need what they're trying to sell. Places like Crutchfield make a ton of money selling wire that's just unnecessary. I have 3 amps and only use 10 GA. Been doing it for 16 years. Never even blown a fuse. I've worked in electronics for years, working with REAL POWER. 480 volt, etc.
It's nice and everyone the new Kicker Solo L7X is out!! It's a square 2000rms watt subwoofer with a 3 inch coil and weighs over 65 pounds!! Now this Kicker quad box that Andy has is loud. I seen Big D Wiz review this box and it it's loud 🔊
The quads are very musical but if you're wanting to really hammer the lows it's not very good at it. It will play the lows but it falls off pretty fast.

I’ve demo’d this box in my hatch before on a Rockford t-2500. The most impressive thing is the amount of cone area you have for like $1800 retail. The only downside was the lack of xmax it has.
Now imagine taking those 4-600 watt 12s out, and putting in 3- 12 inch 2000 watt Solo Xs, that just came out, along with 3-2500 watt amps! If you want to see a video where they blocked off 2 of the speaker holes, and put 2 of those new Solo Xs in, it was smashing the Lows! it also sounds like it's tuned high like in the low 40's which is typical for most pre-fabs. "Tuned to 31Hz" they always say that, but it was missing all the lows on that country song.
I prefer to call the enclosures manufacturer built enclosures especially when they come preloaded with subs reason being is prefabs typically are just a subwoofer box that’s either sealed or ported but is a one size fits all meanwhile manufacturer built enclosures preloaded are specifically designed with the required specs for those subwoofers.

In this video, andy says this 4-12 inch kicker Quad box is tuned @ 31Hz, which is very good! This enclosure also has a Kerfed port, subwoofer baffle is double layered, plus has internal bracing!

Only a very few select systems can hit within 1Db of there max SPL, 15Hz to 20Hz below there peak freq. ✔ your max SPL, @ your peak freq., then ✔️ your max SPL, 15Hz higher, or lower from your peak Hz, and let us know?

For bandwidth most audio tests consider the F6= -6Db down point's as the useable bandwidth, while other's use F10= -10Db down point's, as what they consider there useable bandwidth. I really need to meter mine. I have 2 18" Resilient Sounds Platinum subwoofers. The Quad box is amazing because those are just 4 600rms watt subwoofers hitting a 152db!! I'm probably hitting a 151db at 4600rms watts.
@@RyanBassForLife i have 3 audio pipe tcxx dual 4 ohm 12's on a 5500watt rms all 0 from battery back big 3 all 0g stock electrical and stock head unit. i do have a 6farad cap but it doesn't do much its just a over priced volt meter but helped some within the year im going to do a alt (if i can find one) and then dual xs power 3000ah batts should do the trick after that i need a bigger box and maybe a different amp eventually
Kicker claims it's tuned to 31hz. No official volume numbers, just external dimensions. I estimate 7 cubes after displacements. Port is around 7x16, maybe 21 inches long. Ported boxes usually play down to a half octave below tuning. I think it's tuned to more like 36 or 37hz. My subs moved quite a bit when playing a 31hz test tone.
Kicker knows what they are doing, im sure the Quad box is tuned @ 31Hz. Also has a kerfed port, double layered subwoofer baffle, and internal bracing. Also i do believe the net Cu. Ft. Is around 7cu. Ft as mentioned prior.
@@evilinside5984 You can play around with the numbers in a port length calculator or other modeling software. That port would have to be like 32 inches long to tune that low. The box is only like 28 inches deep. The subs should not really move playing a 31 hz test tone if I understand correctly. I think the quad box is a good value. It's beautiful, it's well built. But you're kind of locked in to buying square subs and I don't think it's truly tuned to 31 hz.
People can't hear 10Hz, we feel this infrasonic freq. If you really like playing 10Hz to 33Hz, which would take modded music to play those freq. In music, then i would suggest a series tuned 6th order, with 2 high x max 18s, Like sundown X V3 18s. I would make the rear ported chamber 14 to 16 cu. ft. Net= after bracing, port disp., and subwoofer basket disp. Tuned to about 15 to 18Hz, with 1- 10 inch aero port., or approx. (125 sq. in of a non flared port area). For the front ported chamber, i would make approx. 8 to 10 cu. ft. Net, with 2- 10 inch aero ports, or approx. (250 sq. In of non flared port area), tuned to approx. 40Hz. This should play 10Hz to 33Hz very well, with the sundown audio XV3 18s. For a good matching amplifier, i would suggest a salt 4k, or Cab 4500, or a D4S shop jp 43, and watch the clip light will be your friend,hope this helps?

Every vehicle, and amplifier used will GREATLY vary output/spl results. I have switched exact complete systems, and lost 4DB. What if some one put this 4-12 kicker Quad box in the back of a chevy suburban, with a 600 watt amp? Do you think its gonna get the same spl score as if it was put into the back of a 2dr ford explorer? This guy Andy clamped 3300 watts, and got a 150Db.
I stuck a few boards in the port to lower the tuning on mine. I'd like to have a walled 6th order someday, who wouldn't? The quad box is pretty sick for a daily though if we're being honest.

@@cali8221 Kicker has always been a quality brand, I worked in car stereo for almost 20 years and we had kicker and even the lower cvr line was good quality. I would take kicker of skar any day for a quality build with good sound quality.
This enclosure is NOT designed to be an SPL enclosure. It is designed to be musical= wide range of freq. If a custom shop were to design, and build this exact, kerfed, double baffled, and internally braced, 4-12 ported enclosure, without subwoofers, would cost approx. $800 So to cost 1599, with 4-12s is a good deal. Not a budget buy, but a good value, to performance deal, for a drop in ready solution, esp., for people that dont have a way to build there own enclosures. I mean if you want SPL, get a CRX, and put 1-8inch with a 1,000watts, in a tiny ported box, and Bee Buzz a 62Hz note to a 150Db. We all have our limitations/goals. As long as we enjoy what we are doing, and not downing others, we can ALL have fun.

In this video, andy says this 4-12 inch kicker Quad box is tuned @ 31Hz, which is very good! This enclosure also has a Kerfed port, subwoofer baffle is double layered, plus has internal bracing!
Probably like 37 cause he said it plays down to 28. If it was tuned to 31 it should play down to about 23.

Only a very few select systems can hit within 1Db of there max SPL, 15Hz to 20Hz below there peak freq. ✔ your max SPL, @ your peak freq., then ✔️ your max SPL, 15Hz higher, or lower from your peak Hz, and let us know?

For bandwidth most audio tests consider the F6= -6Db down point's as the useable bandwidth, while other's use F10= -10Db down point's, as what they consider there useable bandwidth. @@boostedmk5gti563 use to be a big kicker guy back in the day I’ve seen 4 cvr 12’s do 145 with a box a lil too big with a kicker 1500 I seen 4 Sony explode 12’s pop off. 148 on stock electrical with a 1k lol I was mad that day I had about 1500 to 2k in my system dude had literally 200$ and blew me away needless to say I redid the whole damn thing that day after the show lol
I really need to meter mine. I have 2 18" Resilient Sounds Platinum subwoofers. The Quad box is amazing because those are just 4 600rms watt subwoofers hitting a 152db!! I'm probably hitting a 151db at 4600rms watts.
@@RyanBassForLife i have 3 audio pipe tcxx dual 4 ohm 12's on a 5500watt rms all 0 from battery back big 3 all 0g stock electrical and stock head unit. i do have a 6farad cap but it doesn't do much its just a over priced volt meter but helped some within the year im going to do a alt (if i can find one) and then dual xs power 3000ah batts should do the trick after that i need a bigger box and maybe a different amp eventually

What is this box tuned to? What is internal volume? What is the port area?
Kicker claims it's tuned to 31hz. No official volume numbers, just external dimensions. I estimate 7 cubes after displacements. Port is around 7x16, maybe 21 inches long. Ported boxes usually play down to a half octave below tuning. I think it's tuned to more like 36 or 37hz. My subs moved quite a bit when playing a 31hz test tone.
Kicker knows what they are doing, im sure the Quad box is tuned @ 31Hz. Also has a kerfed port, double layered subwoofer baffle, and internal bracing. Also i do believe the net Cu. Ft. Is around 7cu. Ft as mentioned prior.
@@evilinside5984 You can play around with the numbers in a port length calculator or other modeling software. That port would have to be like 32 inches long to tune that low. The box is only like 28 inches deep. The subs should not really move playing a 31 hz test tone if I understand correctly. I think the quad box is a good value. It's beautiful, it's well built. But you're kind of locked in to buying square subs and I don't think it's truly tuned to 31 hz.

People can't hear 10Hz, we feel this infrasonic freq. If you really like playing 10Hz to 33Hz, which would take modded music to play those freq. In music, then i would suggest a series tuned 6th order, with 2 high x max 18s, Like sundown X V3 18s. I would make the rear ported chamber 14 to 16 cu. ft. Net= after bracing, port disp., and subwoofer basket disp. Tuned to about 15 to 18Hz, with 1- 10 inch aero port., or approx. (125 sq. in of a non flared port area). For the front ported chamber, i would make approx. 8 to 10 cu. ft. Net, with 2- 10 inch aero ports, or approx. (250 sq. In of non flared port area), tuned to approx. 40Hz. This should play 10Hz to 33Hz very well, with the sundown audio XV3 18s. For a good matching amplifier, i would suggest a salt 4k, or Cab 4500, or a D4S shop jp 43, and watch the clip light will be your friend,hope this helps?
10hz, 20hz take extremely large enclosures, usually 1/4 wave style. Not very practical in a car, and the range of output will suffer a lot.

Every vehicle, and amplifier used will GREATLY vary output/spl results. I have switched exact complete systems, and lost 4DB. What if some one put this 4-12 kicker Quad box in the back of a chevy suburban, with a 600 watt amp? Do you think its gonna get the same spl score as if it was put into the back of a 2dr ford explorer? This guy Andy clamped 3300 watts, and got a 150Db.

I stuck a few boards in the port to lower the tuning on mine. I'd like to have a walled 6th order someday, who wouldn't? The quad box is pretty sick for a daily though if we're being honest.

@Livin’ Loud with Andy its definitely clean though..i run a Kicker L7 15 SB..But with kicker you're jus paying for the name..jus ordered 2 skar vxf 15s for a little under 600 couldn't do that with kicker and the rms rating is lower..kicker was the go to bck In the 90s but the competition has jus stepped there game up so much its hard to compete..I dnt see anyone with a kicker system now days ..

@@cali8221 Kicker has always been a quality brand, I worked in car stereo for almost 20 years and we had kicker and even the lower cvr line was good quality. I would take kicker of skar any day for a quality build with good sound quality.

This enclosure is NOT designed to be an SPL enclosure. It is designed to be musical= wide range of freq. If a custom shop were to design, and build this exact, kerfed, double baffled, and internally braced, 4-12 ported enclosure, without subwoofers, would cost approx. $800 So to cost 1599, with 4-12s is a good deal. Not a budget buy, but a good value, to performance deal, for a drop in ready solution, esp., for people that dont have a way to build there own enclosures. I mean if you want SPL, get a CRX, and put 1-8inch with a 1,000watts, in a tiny ported box, and Bee Buzz a 62Hz note to a 150Db. We all have our limitations/goals. As long as we enjoy what we are doing, and not downing others, we can ALL have fun.
I wanna cram one of those into my mk4 jetta!
