Tiffen Black Promist vs Glimmer Glass vs A Budget Diffusion Filter

- #Diffusion #filters are a bit hyped throughout UA-cam, that's for sure. But still, I won't deny their benefit. Everyone wants to have a unique look and they are one good option too!
The most popular ones are #Tiffen 's filters and I wanted to compare them to one budget option, which I used the longest: Polaroid Soft Focus. You can decide for yourself.
For photography that effect can be done post-production and even in video production there are some ways to copy its effect. If you would like to learn how to do it, I can try to show how it can be done in Da Vinci resolve and Photoshop.

Thanks for the demo, Firat! Exactly what I was looking for. 🙏🏽🤙🏽
Thank you for the comment! It is great to be some of help!
Very useful comparisons - thank you!
Good one mate!
I enjoyed this comparison video, it'll help me on deciding which one(s) to go for! Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful and thank you for your comment :)
Thank you . I’ve used the promist 1/8 and it seems a bit much so I just ordered the glimmer glass . And I think it will stay on my lens
I like Polaroid one.
To my eyes Promist gives a more analogue look. Which i would prefer in the artistic projects that would benefit from taking the digital edge off.
Great comparison video btw.
Actually if you compare both with real vintage footage shot on film, promist is way exaggerated and tiffen is more accurate. Of course you can prefer promist, but saying it's more vintage it's just a wrong assumption
well done
Thank you!
Would be interesting to see how it compares to the post production effect.
I will try to make it when I find some free time. End of year is a busy time :)
Maybe it's my untrained eye, but it seems the Pro mist gives the light a little magenta tint, while the glimmer seems give a little blue. What do you think?
I noticed really small changes too with every filter I put on, but that seemed so small I was not so concerned about it and thought maybe it's ¨my¨ untrained eye :) And when I aligned the clips one after another, it didn't feel off. That's why I left it out. Thank you for your comment!
The glimmer glass is the most balanced
Firat bababaaaaaaa, anlat, anlat anlasinlar
:)
i like the glimmer glass 1 👌🏼 thank you for the comparison
Happy if I helped! Thanks for your comment!
@ definitely helped!
lol, lets set the lighting up for no filter and then compare. (makes it look stupidly blow out with a filter) :P
Sorry, I didn’t understand your suggestion.
If I did different setups, wouldn’t the effect be less comparable?
@ It's asking a lot, but a better test would be real world, Golden hour, Mid day, and Night with street lights or something equivalent to that. Bring the Cinema to our hearts :)
A studio light can be adjusted, and each filter reacts to light differently, by setting the light your self, you are inadvertently deciding which one looks best. Exposure settings may also be an issue in bright lights. Ta
the black pro-mist 1/8 is the most balanced with a pleasing halation while maintaining a good contrast and often used by filmmakers.
It's also a dated look. Glimmer and satin are much better balanced to my eyes.
I can see it would be more fitting for some scenarios in filmmaking, I think they all have different type of usage and one would be better than other for some scenarios and vice versa.
