Very yummy
Yes it is. Thanks alot 🤗🙂
My mom makes this every time I go home! It’s my favorite.
Yes ooh, I've not seen or heard anyone who doesn't like edikaikong soup 😊
It's delicious 😊😊, I am already salivating.
Please what do you do when you don't have a palm oil and blender?
You do not need blender for this, I chopped my spinach that's for the chopped one and for the grounded one I bought it from the store that way. And palmoil and little liquid from the meat stock is the base of the authentic edikaikong soup or you can totally omit using palmoil or you can use capsicum also known as bell pepper or tatashe but it will be efo riro instead.
Hope this helps 😊.
Ma am a first time person here and i subscribed immediately cause I loved the content and the way you explained it
My question is must you add the periwinkle and the grinded spinach....and if you cant find them what can you use to substitute
Thank you so much 🤗.
No, it's not a must to add periwinkle and grounded spinach, you can substitute periwinkle for pomo or even cook the soup with just the meat or dried fish and add enough crayfish while you can use any spinach of your choice but I used these because the taste is closest to ugu and waterleaf.
Am making it today
OK sis. How did it go?
Love from Australia/ new subscriber
Nice meeting you Mimie ❤. You're highly welcome to the family 🥰💕
Did you wash the spinach with hot water before using it?
No I did not wash it with hot water, I bought it from the store already chopped.
This look yummy. Can I use spinach and pumpkin vegetable
Yes
If you mean ugu leaf, yes you can but it will be best paired with waterleaf except you don't have access to waterleaf then yes you can use spinach.
She can pair the both. This is how Ibibio/Efik folks make their vegetable soup (edikang ikong). The spinach would be a substitute for waterleaf.
You mentioned grind spinach, does it mean you blended it?
No, I did not, I bought it that way.
How many bags of spinach did you use ?
Can't remember, the quantity of spinach I use depends on quantity of meat or fish used.
I am definitely trying this tomorrow
You'll like it. How did it turn out?
Thank you so much for watching 🤗❤️
HAPPY NEW YEAR BERNICE TO YOU AND FAMILY. Keep your delivious dishes coming! 🥳🥳🥳🙏🏻❤️
I also wish you and your family a very happy new year dear Moreira, many blessings 🙌 . Thank you so much I do appreciate it ❤❤.
Sure I will, thanks alot for your encouragement 😊.
Can I also mix spinach and kale ???
Sure you can but kale gives it a different taste in my mouth though 😊
For those in diaspora, where will i see periwinkle, stock fish and the rest?
You can find it in any African shop or there are some Asian/halal stores that sells Nigerian/African foodstuffs.
Please am a newbie please how many spinach was used again
Well, the spinach used will depend on the quantity of meat and fish (proteins) used. Add spinach bit by bit and stir and taste that way you can easily get a balanced taste, I don't like the soup to be too meaty with less spinach and if you add too much spinach the soup might not be as tasty as you'd want it to be. Hope this helps.
Rice oo
😃😃
Did you grind the spinach yourself or it’s sold that way?
Yes, It's sold that way.
How did you grind the spinach?
I did not grind the spinach, I bought that way.
Where did you get periwinkle from
I got it from an African store here. Though it came Dried, had to soak it overnight.
Did you first cook the spinach before adding it ?
No, I didn't cook my spinach before adding. Thanks for watching 💕.
❤❤❤❤
🤗❤️
very needed sis thnks
from italy
You're very much welcome 🤗
Spinach is different from pumpkin leaves
Yes I know, I never said spinach is pumpkin(ugu) leaf. I only substituted spinach for the it, as I can't get my native leaf. Thanks alot for watching 💕
Mmmmm, kill me
How can I 🤣.
How do you make the collard greens 🥬 vegetable soup with just turkey meat with those black beans that looks like black little buttons. I forgot the name of it. Please can you tell me how to make it please. What are the ingredients
You mean efo riro?
Otherwise, I don't know what you are asking about.
Well I don’t know the name of it. But all I know is that it’s just collard greens with some black beans that’s flat and they look like little buttons and it has the red Palm oil with the tomatoes. I’m trying to find a video of it or the name of it this will be my 3rd time eating it. Your soup look a little bit like it but it doesn’t have the black beans that looks flat in yours. I just don’t know what the name of it is
It's efo riro, I don't have the recipe yet on my channel, but I will upload it soon.
