    Please what do you do when you don't have a palm oil and blender?

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  Рік тому

      You do not need blender for this, I chopped my spinach that's for the chopped one and for the grounded one I bought it from the store that way. And palmoil and little liquid from the meat stock is the base of the authentic edikaikong soup or you can totally omit using palmoil or you can use capsicum also known as bell pepper or tatashe but it will be efo riro instead.
      Hope this helps 😊.

    My question is must you add the periwinkle and the grinded spinach....and if you cant find them what can you use to substitute

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  Рік тому

      Thank you so much 🤗.
      No, it's not a must to add periwinkle and grounded spinach, you can substitute periwinkle for pomo or even cook the soup with just the meat or dried fish and add enough crayfish while you can use any spinach of your choice but I used these because the taste is closest to ugu and waterleaf.

      Yes

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  11 місяців тому

      If you mean ugu leaf, yes you can but it will be best paired with waterleaf except you don't have access to waterleaf then yes you can use spinach.

    • @ForevaABBIEx3
      @ForevaABBIEx3 11 місяців тому

      She can pair the both. This is how Ibibio/Efik folks make their vegetable soup (edikang ikong). The spinach would be a substitute for waterleaf.

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  Рік тому +1

      Can't remember, the quantity of spinach I use depends on quantity of meat or fish used.

    For those in diaspora, where will i see periwinkle, stock fish and the rest?

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  Рік тому

      You can find it in any African shop or there are some Asian/halal stores that sells Nigerian/African foodstuffs.

    Please am a newbie please how many spinach was used again

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  6 місяців тому

      Well, the spinach used will depend on the quantity of meat and fish (proteins) used. Add spinach bit by bit and stir and taste that way you can easily get a balanced taste, I don't like the soup to be too meaty with less spinach and if you add too much spinach the soup might not be as tasty as you'd want it to be. Hope this helps.

    How do you make the collard greens 🥬 vegetable soup with just turkey meat with those black beans that looks like black little buttons. I forgot the name of it. Please can you tell me how to make it please. What are the ingredients

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  2 місяці тому

      You mean efo riro?
      Otherwise, I don't know what you are asking about.

    • @faleisha81
      @faleisha81 2 місяці тому +1

      Well I don’t know the name of it. But all I know is that it’s just collard greens with some black beans that’s flat and they look like little buttons and it has the red Palm oil with the tomatoes. I’m trying to find a video of it or the name of it this will be my 3rd time eating it. Your soup look a little bit like it but it doesn’t have the black beans that looks flat in yours. I just don’t know what the name of it is

    • @bernicekitchen
      @bernicekitchen  2 місяці тому

      It's efo riro, I don't have the recipe yet on my channel, but I will upload it soon.
