I did everything on this very detailed video and nothing worked so I took it old school. My 4 year told I’m his super man so, I did what I used to do when I played games and cleaned the Nintendo slot card with rubbing alcohol very softly with a Q-tip and that solved the problem.. hope it helps!!
What do you do with all your game cards aren't working cuz like all my not working and I don't know what to do does it need to be a working game card and then a non-working game card because all my game cards aren't working and I saw that your Smash Brother card was working
@Jeff the fixes didnt work for me. i may have to send it to Nintendo for repairs, but do you know anything about cartridges with a green line on the back? most of my games have a black bar where the connectors are, which seem to work with no problem, but my other games like Arms and Pokken have a green bar, which im starting to have problems with. My Arms copy acted up on me, and after a few reinserts, it worked but it worries me. My Pokken copy however never worked and i just bought it. Do you have any info about this?
All I know about the green bars versus the black bars is that the green bar cartridges are smaller in capacity so those usually reference smaller games and they may be made by different companies. That stated the difference in manufacturer could have an effect on whether or not the game is recognized by the console, but I think the most likely scenario is that you simply need to make sure that your switch and your Joy cons are updated. For some reason that seems to be a litch pen in a lot of the issues with games being recognized. Of course if all else fails I would definitely send it to Nintendo. They usually don't charge for issues pertaining to hardware that aren't water related especially if you are in your warranty.
Ive had this when i left the game running and putting the switch to rest mode. Came back 1 hour later with that error message popping up and telling me to shut off the game before removing the cartridge… Really strange and very annoying because i lost a ton of progress
This was good, but the issue I'm having is with a brand new game card that does not yet have an icon on the home screen. Turns out the card reader was bad.
my super mario party is also the same except that when i archive it it doesn’t show the the cloud icon on top and nothing happens, when i press plus i can redownload an update but that’s about it

My best advice there is just to make sure everything is updated to its most recent version. Your joy cons your switch everything as much as possible should be updated. If that doesn't work try unplugging your power brick from your wall and from the back of your dock and let it set for one minute or so then plug it back in to see if that works. You can also try turning your switch off with the power button and having it restart.
Some games i have on game cards but some is digital all my digital games work just fine with or without internet connection had this issue with naruto a few times
Oh my. That sounds like quite the headache. If I were you I would try updating your system and then unplugging your power brick from your switch and from your wall. Give it a couple seconds to a minute and then plug it back in and see if either of those work. If not, your game card slot could be dirty or obstructed. You could also try cleaning the game card slot, but it is kinda tricky. The best way I know is to go with a microfiber cloth or peel about half of the cotton off of the end of the Q-tip and use that.

@@LumboDumbo you just said the exact reason why I said it was tricky... You can clean the cartridge slot just fine if you are gentle and follow the instructions I gave. To me, it is an acceptable level of risk, but I respect your opinion.
You may have to try it more than once. My general experience with the game card could not be read. Error is that it is intermittent. Sometimes I'll get the error and then take the game card out and put it back in and it works just fine. Sometimes the error remains for days at a time.
I’m so lost, my switch can read games some times and not other times, but once it has the blue icon (showing it is inserted and read) I go to play and it says that it can’t be read…and this is with all my games, I’m so lost. It started out of nowhere too…I was playing animal crossing and it crashed and said there was an error, then it began not being able to read the game - bare in mind I only dock my switch anyway. If anyone could help I’ll be super grateful.
Unfortunately that's how it goes. I would double check since it is intermittent whether or not you have something stuck inside the card slot. If not, you just have to keep trying till it works. I think Nintendo may have released a quick patch a while ago to help address this since I notice my console doesn't have read errors very often, but I don't know for sure since my version has not changed.
This is one of those finicky areas of the switch that doesn't have a bunch of solutions. I would try rotating between different game cards and coming back to the one that does not work. I have had a fair bit of success with that method too...

It's also worth noting that you may need to double check whether or not your system, power cable and controllers are up to date because for some reason that has an effect.

@@jeffprofessional123 Did you see the thread about switch thinks that the cartridge was removed after sleep mode. People keep saying it might be a firmware issue and they said it's been happening since version 11.0.1
I have seen some theories about firmware and the like. I cannot verify any of it because I dont have an older firmware version to test, but it does make sense that it could be firmware related. In that case, I would say we have to fiddle with it until they get an update that fixes it which is much less than ideal since they just fixed Joy Con drift after like 3.5 years. I will do some research and see what I can find though.
Ok. In that case I would say to try and make sure that everything is updated (ALL of your Joy-Cons and any other systems they connect to) and try again. If that does not work, I would say to contact Nintendo since they may have troubleshooting steps I am not privy to.
Man, I am so sorry to hear that is still going on. Quick question, When you say you replaced the card reader, did you do that personally, go to a repair shop, or did you send it in to Nintendo?
@@jeffprofessional123 I got someone to fix it for me, probably gonna do the same with the card reader. After trouble shooting with this video and blowing on the cart. Now my switch won't even read any games at all despite me having the cart reader replaced yesterday. I'm so sick of these constant issues I've never had on other nintendo consoles (outside my new 3dsxl recently)

Yeah I just lost about 6 hours of progress on harvestella for that reason. I just end up saving way more often these days.

Gotcha. I would try updating your switch, then restarting it. If that does not work, check your game card then your game card slot.

Sigh. Didn't work for me. All other game cards but this one work fine. It won't even show the game icon on screen.

i just replaced the card reader and got the issue again after rebooting the switch this system is so fucking cheap 400 for this??
