I'm a sociologist so I tend to align with the first definition of racism. White people can experience discrimination from other people, but our lives aren't made worse in any way because of our race. Whereas for most folks of colour, the average experience is that racism impacts a variety of things.
But everyone mixed up the definition of racism and discrimination so the public uses it in varied ways and so many aren't clear about what it means lol.

Being from a big Viet family living in the US, there's no way to hear the things my relatives say and not think they're racist. I can only be glad they don't act like they're racist.
I think everyday racism stems from systematic racism they feed on one another, but the more powerful can lead to more racism. So its hard to put into two different boxes.

my seitan always smells a little bit like bread. This is not a deal breaker but not the best either. Maybe it depends on the brand of gluten, or a technic, or the alignment of the stars in the sky, idk, but it made me give up :(
also it's very hard to find the sweet spot between too rubbery and too mushy.

Sounds like it's time to come back to Montreal! (said in a southern drawl lol) Chuchai is definitely a great Thai place! I'd suggest a visit in the summer or spring.. with the many outdoor activities/ music festival and other outdoor stuff happening downtown.. Old Montreal Old Port! you're bound to meet some fun folk.. or if you don't want to wait.. you can try your luck bumping into some cutie on Mount Royal tobogganing or skiing 😛
As for the racist thing.. it has turned on its head in the past few years among other crazy things.. hopefully it will sort itself out and find a healthy place as there's a lot more pushback. The food looked A m a z i n g !!! 🤤😋

The thing with the systemic racism is, they say, as white people are at the top of this hierarchy of power and so they make the rules and that's why there's no racism against white people. I kinda get that.
But then again I heard a black woman saying that there is ideological racism too.

Regarding the question on racism. You can totally be a racist regardless of 'race', or regardless of which 'racial group' you are being bigoted towards. What they are getting at (I beleive) is that the systems of power make it harder for it to affect the 'dominant race' because of the institutional power that it provides (though from everyone I have talked to it is kind of a fringe thing anyway). I also believe in the latter of the two views. I too am not great at explaining.
Lastly, I am in the same boat as far as the dating scene. However, I do not try actually at all, just from talking to everyone around me. basically, if you are not already taken, you are probably going to be alone... (this is coming from 3 hours north)

What happened to your dog you adopted from Korea?
I think lives at her parents house as it was less stressful that way for Nari and her parents dog. They dogs got into fights at the start when they first met, and took a long time for them to warm up to each other. They found when Nari went back home with Rose, that the next time coming over for a visit there would be some stress between the dogs. So it was less stressful for them to just stay together :)But Rose visits a lot.

Yes, you can be racist to any race.
Racism is power + prejudice so in my opinion there is no such thing as reverse racism, meaning there cannot be racism towards white people because as you explained they are top of the hierarchy, but I do think there can be racism & colorism coming from people regardless of their ethnic background, which means people of colour can also be racist.
