  • In this CJ4 Working Title Mod tutorial I will discuss and demonstrate each mode on the Flight Guidance Panel, or as it is more commonly known, the autopilot.
    Vertical Navigation (VNAV) tutorial and different messages encountered while using VNAV will also be talked about.
    Angle of Attack indicators and what the indications mean are explained as well as how to use AoA in a practical way.
    And as always, be sure to check out FlightSim.com for FS2020 news and other information for FS2020. flightsim.com
    For Microsoft Flight Simulator use only. There are many things in this video that do not duplicate what the actual avionics will do in real life.

    I agree with David Coats. Your delivery is straight forward and your use of the Red boxes identifying key points it brilliant. I know the WT team is producing updates quickly so attempting to produce an accurate series may be impossible until such time the CJ4 is fully operational. However, I do encourage you to continue your efforts and put as much setup info as possible in your videos so we can setup and fly with you. Great job! Keep it up!

      I will keep doing videos with the CJ4 mod even though they are updating the Mod. This is the closest thing to duplicate real life avionics and flying in FS2020 so far. There are some things I have wanted to do but the FMS in the mod will not do them correctly so I don't do those things. So far, I've only done what others can duplicate every time on their own. I make these videos because I enjoy the mod, a lot! The team making it has done a wonderful job so far and I am here to help them any way I can. They make videos for their mod and mine are in no way meant to compete with their videos but to show appreciation and help get the word out about the wonderful work they have done. When I first used the mod and saw how well the FMS worked, I was more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. They did what Asobo failed to do upon the release of FS2020 by giving us a working FMS among other fixes with the CJ4.

    Yet another great video! looking forward to your upcoming video with more in depth info on VNAV. I've made 2 flights in the current working mod version and never got VNAV to kick in. Both were ILS approaches. I've watched your video and one by K20017. But, still not sure which altitude restriction to put in as my altitude before pressing the VNAV button. For ILS approach is it the IAF or FAF? If you have an arrival with alt restrictions, what do you use and when do you invoke VNAV. Then, of course, there is the issue of using VNAV for an RNAV approach! I want to learn them all!!! Many thanks!

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 роки тому +2

      If doing an ILS you'll have to be in FMS mode and set the altitude at the FAF in the altitude selector then press VNAV. Right before you reach the FAF you'll have to switch to LOC and press APPR as soon as you switch sources. If on an arrival (STAR) set the bottom altitude at the end of the arrival and press VNAV. as soon as you see TOD on the MFD that's where the airplane should descend. From there it should take you to the bottom altitude set in the altitude selector. I'll try to get my STAR tutorial out later this week. I think it's the ARCH arrival into STL.

    Very comprehensive. Thanks a lot. I think I'm right in saying that when you enter Approach mode, any currently active modes, e.g. VS, ALT, etc. are cancelled. Then, if you cancel Approach mode before landing, which modes will be active? Does that vary with different planes?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 роки тому +1

      You can have approach mode armed and be in VS or any other vertical mode and it will stay until an altitude in the preselector or a glide slope is reached/intercepted. If you cancel the approach mode, I think it will go to pitch and maintain what you're currently at but honestly, I have never had to cancel the approach mode or needed to. If doing an ILS it will stay in approach mode unless I go missed then go-around mode will be selected and a go around will be initiated. It is the same from airplane to airplane that I have flown in real life but right now everything I fly is a Pro Line 4 or 21 so they are very similar.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 роки тому +1

      Glad you're enjoying the CJ4. It's the best airplane on FS2020 in terms of functionality (with the WT mod).
      It should do the descent angle for you. On the real FMS in the airplane we can change it and it will move the TOD. To change the angle just type the number in the scratchpad (i.e. 4.5) and put it on the right side of the FMS on the fix. So if it goes on the 2nd from the top position you'd press the 2nd button down on the right side buttons. I have the newest update but I am not sure if it allows changes in the descent angle yet. @@stovic1442 VNAV won't really do anything unless it has a path to capture such as a path leading to an altitude at a waypoint. VNAV will fly in VS mode (FMA will show VVS) and to see what it will do next, look at the flight mode annunciator on the PFD. If PATH is in white under VVS, it will fly VVS until the PATH capture. VPTCH is just a climb mode and the V means VNAV is engaged. VPTCH will work in a climb or descent until an altitude limit is coming up and it will level off in a climb so the restriction is met.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 роки тому +1

      Discontinuity is there for a good reason. Example: Flying an arrival and after the final point on the arrival the chart says fly a heading or course. The airplane will do that with the discontinuity. If you take it out and put the next waypoint in its place, the airplane will go to the next waypoint when it should fly a heading or course on the chart.
      To get it to the next waypoint - select a waypoint after the discontinuity and place it in front of the discontinuity. In the real FMS you can delete it but this one does not let a person do that. You can try holding the delete key and then pressing the side with the discontinuity. Maybe it changed in the last update.
      No worries about being a "nubie". I was once a nubie, too.

    I didn't even know that the TOGA button existed in this aircraft so have I been taking off incorrectly? The way i learned was to have FLC selected with 240Knots And have Vnav selected. On the runway i would bring the throttles all the way to takeoff and skyrocket climb at 240 knots.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 роки тому

      VNAV won't do anything unless you have altitudes in the FMS from a departure, arrival, or approach. I'm not positive but I do not believe that's the actual position of the TOGA button. In every Citation I've flown it's on the side of the left and or right throttle lever. Where they have it is more inline with where the fire switchlight is to shut off fuel to the engine. IRL I use pitch and I put in the runway heading on takeoff. That way the flight director will be wings level when I'm on the correct runway and the flight director would be in a turn if lined up on the wrong runway.
