This video is clearly a labour of love. Let's support this guy to turn UA-cam in to his full time job buddies. I want to see more videos like this one.
I really really really hate dynamic difficulty, especially the "sneaky" version that isn't communicated to the player. It's just unethical lol. I like to choose my difficulty settings, and it's up to me whether I set it correctly, or far too easy or difficult. I also don't like the matchmaking version. Because it means you will always, on average, lose/win exactly 50% of the games you play. I think that removes any incentive to get better. Getting better should mean winning more games. Even if that means you lose most games at first. A good middle ground are leagues, so you progress from losing most, to winning most games, then to be promoted to the next cycle. Constant progress with incentive to improve, even if it's still a form of dynamic difficulty, in a way.
That's completely fair, I'm not the biggest fan of hidden dynamic difficulty either. However, I recognize that sometimes it's a bit of a necessary evil to "protect the player from themselves." In a perfect world it wouldn't really be necessary, but players don't always know what to set the difficulty to.

If i was a game developer, i would add dynamic difficulty as an option. I always hate it when games force it.
