InDesign: How to Create Pop-Ups for Interactive Documents (Video Tutorial)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 жов 2022
- In this InDesign video, Laurie Ruhlin shows how to quickly make a pop-up box-for a photo caption in this example-to be used in an interactive document. By making objects into buttons, she uses the Hide/Show Button action to turn off and on elements as the buttons are selected. This will work when exporting to an interactive format like fixed-layout EPUB, HTML, or Publish Online, as well as PDFs when viewed with a capable reader app.
This video is excerpted from Laurie’s “InDesign Animation and Interactivity” session at CreativePro Week 2022. Check out www.creativeproweek.com to register for this amazing conference.

Finally. A tutorial that simply cut straight to the steps, told them clearly, made it easy to understand, and didn't fill over half the video with useless talk. Thank you!!!
This is a wonderful tutorial. Thank you for clearly breaking down all the steps. Greatly appreciated!
I had the idea to achieve similar with the Object States, but this is great. Thanks for the tip! 👍
Thankyou very much for this amazing quick trick
Espectacular!, muchas gracias.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! It's really clear and easy to follow. I'm using it for my midterm project and turns out excellent! Thanks again
That’s excellent to hear… hope your project gets a great grade!
Love it. Thanks
thnak you so much
Great, thanks a lot! I tried to do this with a video pop up but it did not seem to work. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!
Did the video not appear and how did you export it (like Publish Online or PDF, etc.)? -EG
Unfortunately, PDFs aren’t a great solution for anything more than the basic interactive features (like hyperlinks). The functionality all depends on the reader app used. Many don’t display the interactivity properly… including Adobe’s own mobile PDF reader. -EG
Hi i have a rare problem (i think)... i followed this tutorial and it works, but when i did another page with others buttons and i open de epub preview it doesn't work, i don't know why, and i want to ask you if you heard about something like this and know how to solve it.
Anyway thank you for the tutorial!
Can I use this for online publishing?
For Adobe Publish Online? Yes.
How do I make this work in other readers outside of adobe acrobat?
Lots of interactivity isn’t really doable in Acrobat and even less so in non-Adobe readers. It’s really a matter of trial and error.
IS THIS WOKS IN PDF?
As stated in the description, it may work with a capable PDF reader app. Since there are so many, you can’t be guaranteed that it will work. It will require some trial and error. Laurie has also suggested that re-arranging the stacking order of the buttons can get better results.-EG
