Give this guy a serious award because he deserves so much.
Hi Angelo, my goodness how much stuff is behind Indesign. So much stuff to discover and learn--and thankfully you're here. 😁
Thanks Alex! Appreciate the kind words. My award is helping people learn. It's what keeps this channel going.
I really your videos on interactive design. Videos about interactive design in InDesign are not very prevalent so your videos are worth their weight in gold!
AWESOME content!!!!
Watching, enjoying and learning from Guatemala!!!
wow, this vid is a dream come true. Thanx Angelo you deserve a Saint figure at the corner of my studio.
Thanks I am glad it was helpful! 🙏
You are sooo good! Thank you very much!
Very nice tutorial.
Superb ❤
Thank you so much!
Could you also tell if it’s possible to create a pop up info window that can be closed without the close button (by pressing the same info button that is used to open it)?
I’ve searched EVERYWHERE, but I couldn’t find any answer on this
Well done
Thanks Mac!
@angelomontilla This is such a great tutorial - THANK YOU! I'm wondering if it is possible to create a second pop up window within the first? I'm doubtful, but thought you might know? In your example the pop up window (darkens the background) and shows the tote bag with description and price. Could a second pop up window be triggered from within this first pop up for more - details/other information/in situ photos/ etc. I really look forward to hearing from you. Cheers
I was wondering the same thing. I've tried it and haven't been successful yet.
thank you. very Nice toturial. I have a question. is that possible to have animation and audio at the same time? animation at the page load and animation at page load?
and they both are working at the same time. is that possible?
Hey Angelo i'm Angelina! Your tutorials have sparked new ideas I am so inspired to use at my workplace.
I've done research but still am thinking asking the pro is a more effective method - where do you upload your ePub's and digital catalogs, apart from testing through Adobe?
As in, what platform would you recommend to use for all the interactivity stay intact? I am looking into Isuu, what would be your advice?
Thank you so much, i've already watched about 5 hours of your videos within 3 hours, your work is gods sent.
Hi Angelina! I am glad my tutorials have been able to help you. Issuu us a good platform but it runs on PDF pages, so all of the hard work you did in Id wouldn't carry over to Issuu or any flipbook platform for that matter. You'd be forced to use their tools with a premium plan.
Your free options would be:
1) Publish Online and then embedding the project to your site.
2) Export as an EPub (Fixed Layout) and open the project in an e-reader (ie: Apple Books).
Your paid options would be:
1) Export as HTML by going to File > Export > HTML and saving the html, js and images in a compressed folder. From there you'd have to share these files with a developer to help you get it on your own site.
2) In5 is a subscription tool that allows you to from InDesign to your hosted site with no coding necessary.
@@AngeloMontilla Thank you so much Angelo for the reply! I really appreciate it! It sounds like the free options might have to do for now.
Another question I can't seem to find online. When choosing the Publish Online option, no text seems to be able to be copied anymore and the search function does not work in the browser. Is that a bug or is that just how the Publish Online feature works?
Hi Angelo, I have a question. Do you have any tutorials on creating navigation buttons on master pages.
i.e. if I have 8 tabs for chapters and a home button as well as forward and backwards arrows to navigate pages.
I know how to do them on normal pages, but would like to know how to have them still work on MASTER pages. 😮
Hi Angelo, thanks for this video. I was wondering if in order to use this same method for every product on the same page you have to make new layers in indesign for every popup? In other words, what will happen if you press the other ’shop online’ buttons in this page? Cheers!
You could make three more copies of the trigger button and place them over the other Shop Online labels. Ensure these triggers are in the Triggers layer and order them numerically. Then you'd have three other pop-up windows to set up. Using the same method, go to 'Open Window 2' and set another Animation action to 'Product Info 2' and the same 'Dimmed Background'. Repeat the same steps for 3 and 4.
Thank you my dear friend..we benefit a lot from you..but I hope for one thing..work on interactive PDFs for mobile phones not computers..is there a way to play PDF animations on mobile..thank you from the bottom of my heart
Hey Angelo This works fine for one product but what happens if the close button is in the same place for multiple products??
Hello Angelo, would it be very complicated to make pop-ups of a page that, for example, has 12 products and at the same time that brochure has more than 20 pages? Would it be a very long and tedious process or could something be automated? Thank you very much for your tutorials, they are incredible... and sorry for my English... :)
Hi Laura. You can actually save Animations. Create it once to the first pop-up window, then in the Animations panel, click the options icon in the upper right corner to save the animation. You can apply that animation to all the remaining pop-up windows. There isn't really an automation for buttons. However, you can set the same action to multiple buttons. You will just have to apply the Animation to trigger for each. Hope that helps.
Great tutorial! Can you export this as HTML and embed in a website? Or does it have to be EPUB or PDF?
Hi Valentino! Yes you can go to Export > HTML. This will package the images, HTML and js. Just be warned that you will likely need some help from a coder as what you see in the InDesign layout isn't what you'll get on export. But yes, it's very possible.
When it comes to exporting the file into PDF, do you need to use 'Interactive PDF', what about any other settings? Thanks
I had no idea you could use in design for this. What else can you use the programme for? I’m a beginner
The possibilities are endless when it comes to page layout for print or web. Check out tutorials on my channel and you'll get a better understanding.
Hi. My top trigger button is still showing while the dimmed background and pop-up content is up, then whenever I tried to hide it, it's not working. How to fix this? Thank you
Hi there ! Everything worked perfectly for me but the invisible button... I dont know why i cant click it on the epub preview, so I can trigger the Pop Up... What sould I do?
Are the layers in the order as the tutorial? You have to ensure that the invisible button is at the very top of the layer stack so other objects don't interfere with it.
@@AngeloMontilla Omg you're literally amazing, that was the problem ! thank you so much ! keep posting tutorials, they're so informative and well made
I wonder why my button is not hiding under where as you your button is not visible
When I export this, the slide shows displaying the dimmed background and pop-up when I view the slide. If I turn the layers off and export again, I can't select anything anymore. I am saving as an interactive PDF. What am I doing wrong?
Hi there. This won't work for interactive PDF. Animation isn't supported for PDF.
What are you exporting this as?
Something like this, either you're using the Publish Online feature to publish to an Adobe-hosted site. You can embed the project to other platforms from there. You can also export for EPub (Fixed Layout) and view it in an e-reader like Apple Books. PC and Android users can use a platform called Caliber - it's the best one I have found.
You really are a gem of a person in Indesign. Nevertheless You are a true innovator in helping others to master their Indesign Knowledge. Kudos to you!
Thank you for the kind words! I am glad the content is helping you learn new things!
@@AngeloMontilla I would really like to learn more into InDesign concepts as my major work relies in InDesign. Do post new videos in InDesign will help a lot of guys like me.
Hi, i have tried this! And i applied it 4 times. Only thing is that on the first animation, the dimmed background stays after i tap on close. The other three work perfect! Any idea how this happened?
Have you double-checked that you set the Reverse action to the dimmed background animation?
@@AngeloMontilla Thanks! I solved it!
how is possible that in the layers panel the trigger button is on the top but in the presentation in under the popup window? I'am really struggling, pls help TT
It's not under the pop-up in the presentation. It's just invisible and you can't see it.
your trigger layer is on top and the button is still not visible
why is it so?
Hi there if I share this as a Interactive PDF will this continue working?
Hey! No, this won't work for PDF. Animation and Object States are not supported for PDF.
@@AngeloMontilla soo if i want to share like a catalog to a client what kind of file can I share? That allows me to do this thanks !!!
@@jhonjairogarcesmontes1035 You really have two simple options: Share the link once it's been published online OR share the EPub file, which will be have to be viewed in an e-reader like Apple Books. Windows and Android users can use an e-reader called Calibre, which I have found to be the best one for those platforms. There are other options such as exporting the HTML from InDesign and sharing the HTML, js and images with a developer to add the creative to a website.
how can i export??? I exported the file as an interactive pdf but it didn't work
Cleber, it will not work for PDF. You're options are Publish Online or EPub (Fixed Layout)
