Hello and thank you. I'm going to keep on trying to improve my videos so my fingers are more clear. But the finger that work for all of the chords I've played are 1 3 5 (thumb middle pinkie)
Thank you! The clearest explanation of chords I’ve heard or read yet. And with examples! You are an amazing teacher. I’ve subscribed and look forward to more great vids.
A clear explanation of how the chords progression works. You have simplified the method. Looking forward to more ways to become a piano player without all the confusion that's out there.
This is a great video/lesson. Very clear and concise. I specially love the song and the singing. Just lovely. You sound so angelic. 😊Thank you so much for sharing. Cheers!
The first time I did listen to someone in a video talking about I, I & V etc I didn't get it at all. After so many times. Now because of your video. I understand it. Thanks! Happy Holidays.
"Subscribable" just for the singing that comes with it that pleases so much. It's also rare to find explaining that cares. I did subscribe from scratch.
OMG! What a voice you have. It's amazing. You should do something. I would listen to this all day long. It's just amazing. Release a single, a CD, create a Spotify. Do something.
You have a very nice voice I love your voice Your explanation about chord is very useful Great professor I am beginner on piano Thanks very much Vivien from Paris 04/01/2024 And you have humour !!!
i like your lesson thanks so much , i still you to assist me help in area of using chords 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 to follow a song when going on,, teach on C major for this , i will be very happy for this thank you
It seems to me you know what to do and how to do it. Can you give me an idee how to start. At this moment i can’t play piano yet but I’ve got a Organ that i can practice on, with the remaining notes that’s still working. Do i start with how it should sound the words on surten notes or can i combine different Melodies from different songs
absolutely combine, there is no real wrong. Music theory is a guide but have fun experimenting and if you think it sounds good, then thats where to start.
I’m confused why are all the happy sounding chords using white keys but the D Chord uses a black key and when using a white key it sounds sound? To me it’s puzzling isn’t it better to have all the sad sounding notes in black or rebuild the piano layout ? Forgive my silly question in my head it makes sense
Hey Jay, good question. Its to do with the distance in semi tones. Major chords 1 3 5 (even if starting on black notes) are all the exact same distance in terms of intervals, same goes for minor chords: distance in semitones of a minor 3rd (1 b3) = 3 semitones. So you can actually have minor/major/diminished chords starting on black notes! If they changed the layout of the piano, you would get new sounding scales. Which could be a cool thing. Will cover more in depth in a future video :)
3:49 🙂 Not always. Heck no. Far from always. Minor chords can be just as pretty, just as "happy", innocent, delicate, tender, bright, joyful as major when used in a certain way or within a context. Minor seven as well. Sure a minor may not be as ethereal or "moving" as say a major seventh but you can get it near, depending on it's place and surroundings, as well as accompanying melody or bass line or lyrics. I think minor gets a bad rap, LOL.
You are very knowledgeable. But can you express the minor chords and diminished in other words than depressing and darkness. I know many joyful and happy song in minor keys. If we say depressed. Who would want to play that or learn depressed? Lol. I know it sound picky. But I love to learn about and play music because it helps us to be joyful. Thank you for listening. Just trying to give a helpful tip, not be critical. I think you are a smart teacher. I guess we are never to old to learn.? Thanks again 😊
Hello Ann, you can use whatever word you like as we all perceive sound differently. I love minor keys too and find them very relaxing. 'Depress' to me literally means to push down (which is what we do to the 3rd in minor chords) I thought that would make it easier to explain! But I appreciate the feedback. I will make it clear in future videos that its all about your own perception, perhaps darker/warmer versus bright would be better used.
I wrote my first song ever too God but He gave me the Melody. I sang it without music and i want music with but too write the notes to fit with the Melody is a big problem. I need help how to do it
Thats beautiful to hear. I would say, first figure out what key your in. That will be the note that sounds like 'home', where the melody can be resolved to. If you're playing piano, try and find the melody on piano first. Your melody notes should match notes of the chord (not perfectly as passing notes are fine!) It will take a bit of time, but you learn bits as you go and it all builds on everything else. I will do a video explaining this in the future.
This is awesome- thanks! I share a free, step-by-step music literacy course on my UA-cam channel in the hopes of making the skill of reading music accessible to all.
@@MusalchemyEd I know a few popular songs that have very memorable diminished triads, but I can't think of any right now. I wish I could so I can impress you.

The notes themselves aren’t happy or sad sounding. The chords, and the different ways you make them do. Hope I understand your question
