I was literally dying yesterday after playing 5 minutes of ball and wondering how I should condition, this upload could not have been betterly timed thank you coach!
This is the most sound advice I've heard yet when it comes to bball conditioning. Literally and figuratively speaking, it covers all angles for in-game preparation. Definitely rewires the logic behind training methods. Great lesson man💯
My coach does a drill that he calls guts. One player has the ball and is dribbling up the court while staying inside 2 lines(usually about the same width as they paint). The 2nd player has their hands behind their head and is only moving their feet to force the balhandler one way. There is a line on the baseline and once the ballhandler reaches halfcourt they pass the ball to the person at the front of the line. The defender then runs back and does this again for however long the coach says. Great way to improve to ballhandling, conditioning, and defense all at the same time.
@@foceanb Deep diaphragmatic breathing vs. shallow chest breathing. The former allows you to use your lungs at 100% capacity, increasing efficiency. Helps with focus. Increases oxygen in blood. Reduces heart rate. Recovery time becomes shorter. Due to yoga practice, it's how I breathe all the time, even while exercising/hooping.
This is going to sound controversial but I ran cross country and track so when I played basketball it was nothing. If I took a week off or 2 after basketball it just took a week or 3 to get that explosiveness back. All else it works still.
I remember I trained all summer just on my bike and skill drills. I got to my team at the time after and I was gassed with the drills and I was really confused on why I was tired 😂😂 never again
It's been a year since I added running into my workout routine, and yet I still gas out in pickup every single time. Bout time I do more basketball-specific conditioning like this. Thanks!
A really good coach once told me to ALWAYS condition your athletes while making them work on a skill at the same time. Never just make them run. That's just wasting time. Make them run while dribbling a basketball. For football, make them run their routes. For baseball, condition them by making them run bases. For soccer, make them do their conditioning drills while kicking/dribbling a ball. That's making better use of your time, and you'll get more bang for your buck.
Hello coach! Loved the conditioning workouts you showed in the video. Just wondering, what type of fitness component/s are these conditioning drills targeting. Like is it speed, power or agility for example, or a mix of them? All answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I will be the first to tell anyone that suicides are undefeated in conditioning not just for basketball but for any high intensity sport. In the same breath, I would also say that lateral movements and being creative is a good thing also!
other than actually playing the game competitive 5v5s and 3v3s which they are the best for conditioning, I do 1 mile Run, 10x 20-30second sprints and agility ladder drills

Dribbling and crossing over with both hands. Learn to seal or cage your defender while dribble. Finishing with both hand. Idk how tall you are but learn how to pro hop and perform floaters with both hands.
No, you’ll get really dehydrated and your kidney and liver is wrecked, and end up recovering for a couple weeks. But everyone’s fitness levels different.

Feel you. Went to shoot around, ended up playing 2 on 2 to 11. Was calculating how many points left for the game to end at 8-6 🤣
Keep up the good work, and remember that a well-rounded approach to both training and nutrition will help you reach your goals!
@@pokeview8252bro…lol I do this all the time I thought it was just me
Ya’ll really need to stop being soft and stay in shape
I'm 50, so I probably would literally be "literally dying".😂

Thanks so much!
Took a month off and went straight to pickup.. we all know how that went, so this is going to be really helpful. Thanks
