Speed is definitely important in basketball for any move,it’s key to change of pace moves.

Basketball is a multi directional game. Sure being fast going north south can help you blow by defenders and beat defenders down the floor but when the defense plays you physical therefore thats where east west movement comes in so you can outsmart your defender

Great video. I’ve been thinking about getting basketball fast too. One more thing I will say that will help you become significantly faster is to just intentionally ingest as much basketball as you can and actually play hard.
Life/basketball is about patterns once you find the patterns you can know what’s going to happen and why before it happens or you will have an answer to most of the challenges. An example is Tyreese Maxey. Pretty sure this Chanel broke it down before but before he even catches the ball he knows he is going to attack downhill. If they don’t stop him he will get to rim if the do mid range bucket or dump off.
Obi Toppin, Bron, and Blake griffen, dunkers are good examples as well. They consistently faster and out run guys on break to get dunks. The have studied enough to know when their teammate has or is going to secure the ball and take off. They know the pattern and aren’t stuck having to see it all the way through. My last example is rotations. Once you understand patterns you can make rotations slide before or as things are happening. You won’t be reacting anymore and it will be easier to move on the flight of the ball. Then once you understand patterns it will be easier to correctly predict/have an idea where ball handlers will go,make smart gambles, cover mistakes,be everywhere, etc.
One thing that helped me too give off the illusion I am fast is think how can I be faster. Then I asked what’s some situations where they can’t be fast?? One time I found is when the drive hard and stop and a dime with either a snatch or pound. There is a period where it’s very hard to be fast so in those situations I attack if I can wether I’m off ball or guarding it
So that’s another one I think. Study and ingest as much basketball situations you are in a lot by watching or playing. And you can have the knowledge or do what he says in vid but a big part is actually giving the effort. A lot of people are faster than what they feel they are.

To be honest the best way to actually get fast while holding the ball is just playing 5s and force you self and get used to being fast

I wonder why I have elite first step but can’t even touch the rim at 5’7. There’s people not as fast as me but dunking at 5’5. Is it because I’m Asian?

There's a huge difference between running and jumping. Sure, some qualities help in both... But the techniques are completely different. I've seen many players (especially shorter players), who are extremely fast but don't jump very high.

@COOLSAUCE21 Yeah, football/soccer players are good examples of this. They are often very quick and fast for a basketball player but often can't jump for shit because they rarely do it or train it.

As long as it doesn't restrict your shooting, you might be ok. I've played with all of my fingers on both hands jammed before. Depending on how bad it is you might be fine as long as you don't hit it or anything. It only takes a few weeks for the Light pain from it being irritated to go away. It takes alot longer to fully heal tho especially if you keep playing. I personally chose to keep playing thru it and if it bothers you, you can always take a painkiller before a game.

Seek professional help if you can afford it but if you can't ....stretch the posterior chain - calves, hamstrings but most importantly get a lacrosse ball (best) or golf ball and roll it out consistently. At least 5 minutes everyday (2x a day is better) for a month or more (it hurts like hell for the first few sessions but stay with it). It will be you with the rest of your life if you don't take care of it now. REST WILL NOT HEAL IT - I REPEAT REST WILL NOT HEAL IT!!!
