How sweet to hear a Neil Innes tune! In his lyrics to "Quiet Talks & Summer Walks", Neil juxtaposes the chance birth and short life of a flower- (a botanical voyeur)- with the analogous, ephemeral nature of a summer romance. The beautiful melody traces the whimsical course of love: its ups & downs, grandeur & glory, free flights of fancy, and bittersweet melancholy. A masterpiece of composition!
Beautiful rendition of a classic song. I wonder how many listeners back in 1969 thought "I wonder if this song is about a flower?" Blows my mind that Neil was one of the guys closest to the McCartney secret. Love from Michigan, Divided States. You were the best of them, Neil. Rest easy, my good man!
@@thomasdupont7186 I guess he means the theory in which McCartney died in 1966 and was supposedly replaced by Innes' bandmate Vivian Stanshall who then became the Paul we know now
Another piece of my life fades into the eternal...
Rest in peace Neil...you wonderful, talented, beautiful man.
Always loved the song from the Bonzos' album, but hadn't seen this video. Magic!

He should have replaced John Lennon in the Beatles.
