    You’re literally in your garage making car parts because the manufacturer couldn’t be bothered to make actual functioning ones in the first place 😅 the fact that we’ve come to this point is crazy lol.
    That being said, I’m so thankful you did all this. I went down this same rabbit hole as everyone else and it started with a crack in the turbo body and a low boost code. I don’t let anyone do work on my cars, so I swapped that out myself and everything seemed fine. After about 6 months, the car started running shitty again and here comes a new code for loss of vacuum. Excellent! Lol. That thankfully lead me to you and checking for that rubber nipple, and sure enough the next thing I’m doing is ordering your kit lol. Can’t thank you enough! At out here doing the lords work 😂 cheers!!!

    This is the answer to my endless quest of figuring out why I keep getting the P0171 code!!! I own 3 Buick Encores and they all have had the same exact parts fail or break. I am the resident expert in repairing this crappy motor and it’s peanut brittle parts. From the valve incorporated into the valve cover to the plastic water outlet and oil coolant line, this motor is very poorly engineered. This kit is freaking awesome ❤❤❤!! It eliminates the need to replace the entire intake due to a plastic valve. The removal of the intake is a major undertaking on this motor. Thanks sooo much for this video!! Very well done and detailed!!!

  • @AudioAdvisory38
    @AudioAdvisory38 Рік тому +4

    Make sure, and I should add emphasis on Make Sure that you know the old orange intake diaphragm is not only half missing.
    Use a pick, hex key wrench, anything, to verify the port is clear enough to take the entire new plug stem.
    My experience: Following the video instruction with a dry fit, my plug still failed to click through the port. (Do not try to click in during a dry fit!) It was ripped from the glue and fell. If only the nipple half of the diaphragm is missing, yet the remaining mass of the diaphragm clings on the other side, it can prevent the new plug from engaging its hook.
    This V3.4 PCV Fix by CruzeKits is brilliant ! Ideally if one wants to avoid the problem I came upon; perform this procedure with their original plenum removed from the vehicle, as to prevent the loss of any parts down the PCV journal.

    just did this and luckily I had already ordered a new PCV Hose for this car months earlier. Lucky I did because the valve in the bottom part.( near the turbo) eas completely gone. When you take that hose off if you can blow air from that bottom part then the valve is missing. On the new one when you look in that bottom part of that hose connector, you can clearly see the orange valve. You can actually suck through but you shouldn’t be able to blow through it.
    I simply took the new PCV hose. I got and cut the ends of it off to use instead of the old one. Not expensive at all on eBay or wherever anyways, I think this is something important people should know. If you did it without replacing the bottom part of that hose then you are probably missing that valve also. Should be easily remedied and replaced.

    Quick question to the designer of this wonderful kit😊. If this Pcv valve has failed...would it cause engine to smoke once engine has warmed up? On our vehicle, there is huge suction effect on the inlet manifold hole while engine is idling. We have been told that crankcase fumes should be coming out, but instead theres a heavy suction??? We have fitted new turbo, so we know its not the turbo that is causing engine to smoke when hot. Many thanks

    I installed this kit on my '15 Cruze a year ago. Great instructions and it runs fine. We had to replace the EVAP purge valve this week, but it was a simple swap with the hose clamps and the way this kit is designed. My question is, should the EVAP purge valve have gone this soon or should we be looking for something else happening. It seems to run fine with the new valve so I we are up and running again. DIYers like myself really appreciate videos like this. Thank you so much!

    I just put this kit onto my 2012 Cruze Eco... Everything went 'okay', but - on that other check-valve (the smaller system you pull apart and install the small Y-pipe into... The connection on the left side of that was just a shrunk-wrap between the 2 nipples. This means I needed to install another small piece of the smallest hose (with 2 more little clamps) to join them together. The other thing this does is put you in the position where you are holding onto the naked little check-valve from the middle of this, and it would be very easy to put it together the wrong way around. I am fairly certain that the airflow through this is supposed to be from right to left - but if you simply cut the ends off (which I had no choice but to do) there is no way through this video or any other resource to tell which way it originally went.
    No chance yet to test things out. I am doing my valve cover, coil (with boots), and spark-plugs at the same time.

    I've been having oil leaks around the front of the valve cover for awhile now and when doing highway driving up steep hills where I'm in boost it sprays oil all over the inside of the hood and on top of the air box. I assume it's pushing past the dipstick tube seal and spraying out there. Then one day a few weeks ago i was driving and the engine just started stumbling and blew a cloud of bluish white smoke out the exhaust. I pulled into work and parked and the stumble and smoke cleared up. About 8 hours later after work I drove home and all was good until just before getting home (about 15 minutes) and it did the stumble/smoke thing again. Haven't driven it in a few weeks now but start it from time to time and it will let out a bit of smoke on startup and once the startup idle drops it clears up. Too afraid to drive it to test anything further. I had assumed it was the valve cover and was going to just replace that but now I'm wondering if I should check if the PCV valve is gone. If it is and I install the fix kit I'm assuming I should also replace the valve cover anyway? The diaphragm isn't whistling and I don't get any engine codes.

      @AndreiDPop  Рік тому +2

      @@kfhkfh7530 more oil leaks, reduced fuel economy, more oil consumption.
      Bottom line is the intake produced -8psi of vacuum max. Between about -0.5 and -8 psi of manifold vacuum, the manifold will apply vacuum to the crankcase which will aid the low tension piston rings in producing an optimal seal to the cylinder walls and thereby minimizing oil consumption and maximizing fuel efficiency. If you have a check valve with a crack pressure of 2.9psi, then you’re basically not going to have crankcase vacuum when the manifold is vacuum is between -0.5 and -3.4psi because the manifold has to overcome the threshold for the check valve to open.
      It just so happens that this is the range the manifold will be in during cruising and normal driving. So the check valve would only open during deceleration and idle.
      This is why crack pressure is very important. The PCV fix kit uses check valves of the absolute lowest possible crack pressure to ensure that the engine continues to operate optimally without any drawbacks.
      You might think this doesn’t make a difference but over the course of a year, the additional cost of fuel adds up. If you’re going to make your own fix for the PCV system, do it right so it doesn’t cost you money down the road in most fuel economy and additional oil consumption.

It comes from the PCV location in the intake and goes into the intake tube that runs from the air box into the turbo. I was mistaken, the plastic peanut brittle tube goes into the turbo inlet tube higher up ( not right at where the air intake connects to the turbo ). The corrugated peanut brittle tube leaves the PCV location behind the valve cover goes around the valve cover on the passenger side of the engine and about 10 inches later enters a hard plastic “ elbow” then more peanut brittle for about 4 inches ( running straight across the front of the valve cover for 4 inches ) takes another 45 degree turn via another hard plastic “ elbow ) and then another very short ( maybe 2 inches? ) section of peanut brittle and then goes into the air intake about 9 or 10 inches above the turbo via the 2nd PCV valve . If this kit permanently plugs the intake manifold check valve holes, what is the purpose of the hose that connects to the intake manifold at that port? Isn't that port effectively sealed off after the plug is installed?
    Second question. Some of the posts talk about the lower check valve (at the turbo) being possibly malfunctioning as well. I can test mine (once I get it off the car) by blowing and sucking on the hose attachment area to see if it flows in the blow direction but seals off in the sucking direction, correct? If is NOT functioning correctly, is there a replacement part just for that? I don't see it on your CruzekKit website.

      The kit plugs the check valve holes that used to house a check valve separating the PCV system from the intake system. However, the crankcase is still producing blowby gas, and that needs somewhere to go, so you still need to be able to vent that out somewhere at a minimum.
      The check valve at the turbo inlet terminal is usually pretty reliable, but if it needs to be replaced, you'll need to scavenge it off of a new PCV pipe. I've tried developing a replacement for that and it's possible but it wouldn't cost much less than just buying a new PCV pipe. One thing I have done, however, is drill out the old check valve in the PCV pipe terminal and added a zero-crack pressure inline check valve. Those should run about $25-$40 if you can find a good one.

    • @AndreiDPop
      @AndreiDPop  Місяць тому

      @ on the stock setting, you have a check valve between the intake vacuum side and the pcv system. That check valve is prone to multiple types of failure at a 100% failure rate. The pcv fix kit plugs up the hole where that check valve is or was, and replaces it with an external check valve that can be serviced without the need for a manifold removal. The pcv fix kit re-establishes a check valve between the intake vacuum side and the pcv system.

The PCV port sits underneath the back hood opening and there's not enough room to fit the tool and drill. I tried angling it but there was just no way. MAYBE if you had a super low profile drill it would work but you'd have to insert the brush into the port and then attach the drill after the brush is already inside the port. Hey, thanks for the question! I answered this in our FAQ:
      cruzekits.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions
      Yes! This would be considered a preventive maintenance, or manifold upgrade install. There are two ways to do this.
      1. With the manifold still in the car, find a flathead screwdriver, rest it against the nipple protruding in the manifold, and give it a whack with the palm of your hand to break it off. The nipple would remain inside the PCV chamber of the intake manifold and would have nowhere to go. The flap on the back side would eventually be consumed by the engine through one of the cylinders and burned through the exhaust. This is the same manner in which the check valve fails on its own, and no problems have been reported from this approach.
      2. You can remove the intake manifold, break the tip off in the same fashion, and shake the flap out afterward. If you have any concerns about the check valve being ingested by the engine and causing any issues, this would be the better option. Doing this also gives you a better opportunity to clean the intake manifold thoroughly and check the PCV port on the cylinder head to make sure it's free of deposits.

    Do u have to replace valve cover with pvc kit

      @AndreiDPop  Рік тому +1

      Yes. If the valve cover has failed, that’s a separate component and also needs to be addressed.

    Can still use this kit even though I still have the valve on the intake?

    Did this throw a code? What was the code? My 2011 Cruze is throwing a P1101

    • @AndreiDPop
      @AndreiDPop  Рік тому +1

      P1101 is usually causes by a failed check valve at the turbo inlet (you can try replacing the pcv pipe), a dirty throttle body, or a combination of other issues.
      Is your intake manifold check valve missing?

    My sister ran her Cruze into the ground, so this info doesn't help me anymore. :)
    Her engine was knocking so she parked her car and it sat for a few months, not knowing what we were going to do with it.. and someone crashed into her parked Cruze and totaled it. hahaha.. Talk about dumb luck. She got paid for full insurance payout, even though the engine was blown.

      That’s quite some amazing luck! Couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

      This is why I put full coverage on mine. I've never hoped for a crash so much in my life. 🤣

      @@RT-qd8yl funny story.
      A while back one of the CruzeTalk community guys had an engine that blew cylinder 3. Didn’t have the money to fix it immediately so he parked it on the street in front of his house. A week later some drunk driver plowed into the parked car. Insurance totaled it and paid him top dollar for the car, completely unaware of the blown engine. LOL.
