Third time watching this and wait wait wait. Since WHEN was a resume EVER more than one page? Is that a new thing too? I have never heard of a resume that was longer than one page.
Great question! If you have less than 7 years of experience, create a one page resume. If you have more than 7 years of experience, you can create a two-page resume.

I'm so sorry the audio isn't working. I think the left speaker might be the only speaker working.

ALL of those are soft skills tho. Is Heather really implying that job recruiters ONLY want soft skills?
Wish I was here for this live, I haven't had to look for a new job since 2008 and I'm totally lost when it comes to writing a resume. In fact, I haven't ONCE needed one for the stuff I've been doing.
Hi there! I'm glad you caught the live stream. Make sure you download the ATS-friendly resume pack here: professorheatheraustin.lpages.co/resume-pack/. It will give you a huge head start.
@@ProfessorHeatherAustin i don't understand the emphasis on the top part and summary-"keywords", etc since you have previously stated that ATS systems don't pick up that section, hence the reason to include keyword in the work experience section. So what is the point of it? to look pretty? (note I'm being serous not sarcastic)
@@ProfessorHeatherAustin I'm worried the top takes up Way too much space that could be better used for work history and accomplishments in said positions. I have been told many times by recruiters that no one looks at page 2. So everything most important/ Relevant needs to be on page 1. That's very hard to do if you've had multiple jobs in even the past 3-5 years. It's not going to fit on page 1 with that large summary section taking up space. If ATS cares about the summary, that would be the only way I would focus on it.
@@MissTReviews Wait what? Since when are resumes more than one page? I thought they were supposed to be exactly one page. I've never heard of ANY resume that was more than one page. Is that a new thing, for a resume to be more than one page?
I've watched this whole presentation like eight times and I'm STILL lost. Like what exactly does ATS do anyways? I've applied to about 100 jobs over the last month. Received replies from like seven. All of which saying that I wasn't qualified enough. Oh and these were all for entry-level customer service jobs that a kid out of high school half my age could probably get. Makes me feel small AF. Is this normal?
Fifteen years since I had to look for a job and I literally have no idea what I'm doing or whether I'm qualified for ANYTHING I apply to.
@@SirJoelsuf1 You must have not dowloaded Heather's "Sally S, Smith" resume template, otherwise you would have seen that it is TWO pages. That is what I was questioning. This isn't one of my favorite templates because the Page 2 headers are mostly irrelevant and I would only use a page 2 for additional, Relevant Work History, and nothing else, since I have a long work history and could fill up even more than the simple 2 pages. Relevant work experience in this day and age is what is most important (ATS/Recruiter focuses here). And you have proven this by what you have stated in your own words about qualifications. Needless to say, you kinda jumped into the deep end. I suggest (1)- Watch her OTHER videos on exactly what ATS is as Heather explains it step-by-step. (2)-The best channel I have found for job searching and resume/qualification professional advice is here: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=jazzy+mac+work+from+home
