Love these Dave’s Picks! It’s like having Christmas morning an extra 4 times a year! 😂❤🤙We are so blessed and grateful for Dave and the team to keep bringing these GEMS to us!❤❤❤
Dave, THANK YOU for the last couple decades of work. Picking up the mantle from your mentor was no smaLL feat. You've won our hearts (and ears)...LATVALA!
I enjoy when the songs are not in the slot of the show that we always expected throughout the 80’s. Will listen to May 3 and 4 on my next bike ride. Dave, thank you very very much. You and I kind of had the same GD experience. I started in ‘82, you in ‘84. But when you mentioned having a 2 year period in your life when you only listened to GD, wow. I am 100% sure it was that way for me for 24 months maybe 1985 and 1986. Get a kick out of your beach chats.
Dave, you mentioned working on Record Store Day releases in your video too. Just got 'Nightfall of Diamonds' today. Thanks for those and please keep those coming!!!
5/11 Saint Paul MN is another personnel favorite but that can be said from pretty much any 77 show. Thanks to the crew and Betty Cantor Jackson. N.F.A 65=95!!!
I started writing when the video came on because I was inspired by the title Seaside Chat. I finished at 12 mintutes. Hey Bob Weir, lets play. Pick me up for a seaside chat Ride on the wave to find out where it's at I'll meet you on the shore when you're ready for more In the home of the heavens and the lions roar Take me home you ship of fools Searching for a savior who's breaking the rules You tell me your religion is a rock and roll band But not all of the music is made by hand Down by the seaside Where I met my bride Was she just another grain of sand Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land Waves crashing, children laughing We might as well set off to sail The way we are there's no way to fail On our Odyssey In the eyes of the world there's so much we can be Nevermind it's too late to see What could have been another way We'll find out another day Down by the seaside Where I met my bride Was she just another grain of sand Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land Shake me on your oceans And shake the storm Take me on your sailboat And keep me warm Shake me on your oceans And shake the storm Take me on your sailboat And keep me warm Down by the seaside Where I met my bride Was she just another grain of sand Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land
No box set hints for this year!! We are going to get one of course right? Last year I think it was June when Pacific NW came out. I figured for 50 seaside chat a hint or saying something about a box set would be mentioned. I’m hoping (like every year) either/or Warfield and Radio City 1980 are released. If they were released as one large Oct 80 box set it would be larger than 30 trips I think. Because of the 3 sets per show. But those shows were all recorded on multitrack for Dead Set. Unfortunately not enough shows were recorded in the 80’s on multi track so they are truly special. I wish everyday that after Europe 72 they just kept recording every show on multitrack! Or least like one tour a year did for a live album. Man that would’ve been amazing. Dave says to email him and he will always get to it! Yet I try every 6 months or so simply asking how much multi track shows are unreleased? Not looking for an exact number but just estimate. Nothing beats a crystal clear, perfectly balanced multi track concert. See Europe 72, dead set, Many 89 shows that were released (7/4/89, 7/7/,89 etc) then of course both Spring 90 box sets and 3/15/90. More multi track box sets!! Radio city please!! Release both runs as one massive box set. I got my $500 ready.
Pick me up for a seaside chat Ride on the wave to find out where it's at I'll meet you on the shore when you're ready for more In the home of the heavens and the lions roar
Revelation 20:14-15 (KJV) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
I kinda gotta agree with you on the May ‘77 oversaturation. I mean that month is a legendary run, but the Fall of ‘79 was a whole brand new sound. Cape Cod, Colosseum, 10/27/79 ranks up there with any of em!! IMO….
I never found Dave to be the best picker. I mean he had alot of help from the Deadbase folks, yet ignores most of it. Anybody could really do it, that has a knowledge of what to look for, and quality issues. He's just a lucky dude.
@@davidhale9672 let’s start with dead $ company, pretty much majority of shows after 83 were highly dependent on how much smack Jerry had in him, fare thee well in Santa Clara was pretty bad, I was there. Live nation bonanza. And then there’s snarky Dave who pretends he’s your friend. I listen to the dead almost every day since 79. Nostalgia is a big business that exploits emotions for money. It’s a grift, kind of like Amazon.
@@davidhale9672 actually i did buy one box set, it got lost in the mail by the amazingly careless usps. the communication on the Daves picks side was literally a bot. the communication at the usps required a lesson in Ebonics that i gave up on after 4 visits. After over a month and a half the 300 plus bucks showed up on my statement. i did get to see all the radio city shows and at least 30 dead shows in 5000 or less venues , not including 45 JGB shows in small college gyms. i do enjoy DSO when they play the Wiltern. even the Dead podcast insists on dragging listeners through the regime narrative when a song like Mexicali blues is the topic. cringe ..
I worked as an usher at the Palladium in 1976-77 and saw all 5 nights. What great memories.
You are lucky!

It’s always such a pleasure to witness your passion for the Dead. Can’t wait to hear this show.
So excited! Can't wait for 50 to show up in the mailbox. Keep 'em coming Dave...especially those late '70's shows!
Dave, THANK YOU for the last couple decades of work. Picking up the mantle from your mentor was no smaLL feat. You've won our hearts (and ears)...LATVALA!
A great full show….. I love your dedication, Dave.
Tired of Donna

Thank you Betty
Thank you Dave
Excited for this
✌️❤️🔥
Super excited! Thanks Dave!
Thank you, David!! The memories live 4ever
that bonus disc is an absolute gift, Dave. thank you!
The subscribers-only bonus disc has, in theory, IMO, the best setlist of the whole package🤣!

Holy Grail of 1977 shows. The audience recording on UA-cam is also excellent. Need all of May 4th.
Dave forgot his own name less than a minute into this video. Jesus, this show MUST be good.
Well, there is a series called Dick's Picks
@@Kamala_lost_2024 just shows how humble Dave is that he wanted to give credit to Dick lol
@@Kamala_lost_2024oh really? 🙄
Any of the May 1977 were great. My favorite is 5/9/77
Possibly the best rendition of Peggy-O on that one. I envy those that saw them on 5/8 and 5/9. The band was on fire.
Mine too!
5/9 is so fantastic!
Great job! Hope it just keeps going and going
Congratulations on 50 bro!
Eagerly awaiting shipping confirmation.
Can't wait for this to come in the mail!
Dave, you mentioned working on Record Store Day releases in your video too. Just got 'Nightfall of Diamonds' today. Thanks for those and please keep those coming!!!
Thank you, Dave! Been on the subscription bus since Volume 25. New music in the mail every 4 months!! Oh yeah.
Buckling up for 18 minutes of rambling
Thank you Dave!
Easily my favorite YT videos are Dave's seaside chats.
I just have to say, I collect alot of remastered SACD music. Jeffrey Norman is one of or maybe THE BEST producers.
Truly
NYC77 -- was truly "Hell in a Bucket".

Yaaaaa whoooooo. Can’t wait. Christmas in July so to speak
I always look forward to this video, announcing the new Dave’s Picks. And then of course the music that follows.
Merci beaucop Monsieur Lemieux.
Looking forward to getting this one!
Got mine. 👏👏 50 picks!
Excellent
Love to see it
Beautiful artwork
I say there should be a new drinking game.
Take a shot or toke whenever Dave uses his much loved
“PENULTIMATE”
Like a great jam, this video didn’t feel 18 minutes long
April 77’ is pretty interesting; you can hear small snipots of the direction the band slowly took going into May 77’
I was at these shows.

Pick me up for a seaside chat
Ride on the wave to find out where it's at
I'll meet you on the shore when you're ready for more
In the home of the heavens and the lions roar
Take me home you ship of fools
Searching for a savior who's breaking the rules
You tell me your religion is a rock and roll band
But not all of the music is made by hand
Down by the seaside
Where I met my bride
Was she just another grain of sand
Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land
Waves crashing, children laughing
We might as well set off to sail
The way we are there's no way to fail
On our Odyssey
In the eyes of the world there's so much we can be
Nevermind it's too late to see
What could have been another way
We'll find out another day
Down by the seaside
Where I met my bride
Was she just another grain of sand
Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land
Shake me on your oceans
And shake the storm
Take me on your sailboat
And keep me warm
Shake me on your oceans
And shake the storm
Take me on your sailboat
And keep me warm
Down by the seaside
Where I met my bride
Was she just another grain of sand
Or am I on the standing on the beach of the promised land
Hey Dave -- my set came with two Disc 2's 🤯 Bummer🙀no Disc 1 ... anybody else have this problem or know who to get info about getting Disc 1 🙄☮️🤔
You think we will get the missing 5/4 tracks on a future release or is there a tape issue in there?
How do I get one of those caps/hats Dave???
Did I miss something? Did he say was Dave's Picks Volume 51 was going to be?
5/3/77. The day I was born.
It's time to release 9-21-74. Do it!
74 is so great
Please tell me that you took a picture of the ticket stub to show how cheap it was to see this timeless music
No I don’t know which show this is, il wait till it’s on Spotify

Brace yourself. Pacific NW came out in 2018, sir. You've got 6 years unaccounted for. Last year was the RFK 73 run
I really wish all daves picks would be released on vinyl as well and NOT bastardized with the Plangent Process. All Analog, warts and all.

Yet another May 77 show……so lame. Fall 79’ has so many good shows to release, everyone has heard May 77’ endlessly.

8/4/79 Shake-Playin’ that combo alone for the jam and transition is beyond sick 😎
Box set for 2024 ?
Boring alert. But I will be glad to listen to some of the alerts they included.
Seems like a bit of a random, underwhelming choice for a DP #50 choice. And 1977, again. A bit redundant
Tired of Donna

Why is this a grift? Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare.
