The touch screen is installed in this hight, because it also supports video-conference (see camera left side) and can be used by sitting on a chair. The whole house electric is controlled by EIB.
Yes, the screensaver running first is the free downloadable "system 47" and the screensaver at the end is "goldfisch". The the program between is DYI using ms visual studio c# express 2008 inluding a DIY lcars-gfx-library - written in c#, too.

Yeah you should honestly patent this home interface tech with the lcars interface. I would def. buy one. The home security features make it worth it along with the extras
@jagpoag hm, the slow movement was planned to be shure that the people who are interested in details have the chance to get them - and not to be dramatic... Maybe it´s because I normally write software instead of making movies ;-)
THIS IS HIGHLY RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. The reason I needed to confirm I would marry Germany were it a human being... or some other kind of palpable object. Dude, you kick some heavy asses, kudos to your house.
@XR42 I´m am sorry - no. This german version inside this house is the only existing version. There is no other house using this software - so there is no need for an english version in the german house ;o)
Just awesome and amazing! I'm currently working on a similiar project, a real working Star Trek PADD from TNG with somme commands. However, i'm looking to know how to build the touchscreen part. Can you help me please?
Hi, I implemented the project 11 years ago. Tips about the components used at that time won't help you much these days. This is for example a VGA monitor.
Do you know what a home automation terminal is? It controls the electric, your light, the home security, the telephon and maybe the coffeemachine etc.. Why should it run applications?
What computer language did you use to write the program? I'm a information technology student and current course is talking about software design languages.
xa9000 - can you post some technical specifications how you automated it ? Did you use any commercial controllers or is it absolute DIY ? It would be nice to hear your thoughts as I'm struggling for a log time with my own home automation system and sometimes it drives me crazy when it goes to compatibility/usability (actually the very lack of it) in various models available.
Hi, we have a computer controlled home system like this. The program sucks, I'm thinking of installing a 3rd party solution. What's the exact name of home automation program you've used? I presumed you've created a skin/theme for it? Thanks.
@xa9000 well since everyone is hooked to "apps" with the iphone, they always think that everything that has a screen and is touch screen should run apps and play games... lol, anyways, impressive setup. is this the only terminal or are there others? I wish you could show more of what other things it can control. Just for the fun of it. hehe
I want this in my home so I can play music from the speakers that I would have connected to this system. I would want to be able to control every computer in my home from this terminal.
Wow, looks really nice. Do you have a website where you have documented this some more? I'd love to implement something like this but I'd need some help to start. :)
Awesome dude! I have 3 questions: 1) How did you got a serial communication between raspberry pi and arduino? 2) Which program were used? 3) How did you made the gui? Thanks!!
+LUIS FERNANDO TORRES what Raspi? what Arduino? This home control is nearly 10 year old - there were no such things like Raspi ;-) It´s built on EIB / KNX, see www.knx.org/knx-en/index.php
OK, first, I find this awesome! Excellent graphics, very Next Generation format, superb job. One thing I would change if I could even come close to creating something like this would be the sounds used. To me, they didn't seem all that Trekkie. That being said...where can I buy one?!
sorry - can´t sent a usefull build of it: The content can be changed inside a xml document but the connection controling the USB-EIB API is hard coded inside the program. You will not be able to control something without implementing your own control API in c#...
The touch screen is installed in this hight, because it also supports video-conference (see camera left side) and can be used by sitting on a chair.
The whole house electric is controlled by EIB.
What makes this really cool is not only does it look like LCARS its actually functional! its a working terminal!
Lol, so surprised to see my System47 at the beginning!!! 😉 The whole thing is so cool. Very impressive 👍 Love the aquarium at the end
In fact, the whole look of the home control was inspired by System 47. If I remember correctly, I even "stole" the colors for my programming 😉
@@DanielSpringwald Lol, it was all inspired by TNG's brilliant fictional UI 😂
I have always admired the UI what is presented in star treks. They really are simple and good looking. Instead something like what we have today.

Hi jason879, we left a hole in the wall while building the house and placed the industrial touchscreen-monitor inside it.
@jagpoag hm, the slow movement was planned to be shure that the
people who are interested in details have the chance to get them - and
not to be dramatic... Maybe it´s because I normally write software instead
of making movies ;-)
@Shaudh The software is self-created in Visual Studio dotnet and the house electric is controlled by knx / eib.
What dark cave have you been hiding in, why would you use isolinear chips when you could use Bio Nueral Gel packs. That will get things rocking.
screen is industrial tft and touchscreen - assembled on my own, the software is written in c#
Probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen!!
This is probably one of the most awesome I've ever seen! I just need to have one!
THIS IS HIGHLY RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. The reason I needed to confirm I would marry Germany were it a human being... or some other kind of palpable object. Dude, you kick some heavy asses, kudos to your house.
Now thats just fecking awesome!
Its not that bad, the slowness is a small problem since the CPU and RAM can be increased very cheaply.
@XR42 I´m am sorry - no. This german version inside this house is the
only existing version. There is no other house using this software - so
there is no need for an english version in the german house ;o)

Hi,
it can control the whole house electric like lights etc. including timer programming and security functions.
Regards,
Daniel
If i was rich, i would totally wire my house like that. Nice UI by that way, love that all i would have to do to upgrade is mess with xml.
Let me know when you get it to respond to "Tea, Earl Grey, hot."
real nice, but does it actually do anything...apart from bleep..?? Can it run applications?
Holy crap! That is seriously the coolest thing I have ever seen in my entire life!! I want that sooooooo bad!!!!!
Do you know what a home automation terminal is?
It controls the electric, your light, the home security, the telephon and maybe the coffeemachine etc..
Why should it run applications?
Why not put the touch screen at eye level? Looks great though, what lighting system did you integrate with?
What software do you mean? C#? Because that is the only part of my lcars-touchscreen-software, you can find on the net.
Can you show a version in english on your site or here?
is there a chance we would be able to get a copy of the software?
i would like to implement that as well? any more details?
This is epic winnage. You sir kick ass!
What computer language did you use to write the program? I'm a information technology student and current course is talking about software design languages.

all them buttons and you just closed the window.
how many buttons did you have to push to make the window shutters down.
Christ that is awesome. Just need the sounds.
This is very COOL!! nice work. I got to buy a house first then i'll do something similar!!
@XR42 is the softwere open sorce so i could recomile it for english
anna
Hey, you shold set up a website on how to do this, maybe paramount could work out a deal with you to intall/set up systems like this for shipment.
I'm German American, and I think THAT Deserves props, ma boi!
i know this is a custom job, but could you provide the source code/hardware used so we plebeians can make our own
Where did you buy the screen & what software did you use to do this thanks?
Brought the 24th century to the home! Prima!
do u know how many people would buy this to put in their house if it had a purpose like controlled everything that deal with electronics
Hello, I bought a house and I would like to buy this LCD with lcars, I say you know what it costs in euros and where they buy?
hey, this may sound rude, but did this costa lot to install and maintain?
Technologically, it is not far away at all- in fact it is here. It is the implication of the technology that is distant, not the technology itself.

total cool!was kann man damit noch alles machen, bzw, was muss man dafür für kosten aufbringen?
this is major cool and all but what does it actually do, is it just for show or what
das will ich auch... wo kriegst du das her?
aww man, oh well, anyway ya lookin forward to the new movie on may 8th right? it looks awesome.
Is it possible that you could make an english version for me
where can this software be downloaded?
This special star trek touchscreen is only designed for our private use and not designed to be sold.
Does it explode?
@xa9000 well since everyone is hooked to "apps" with the iphone, they always think that everything that has a screen and is touch screen should run apps and play games... lol,
anyways, impressive setup. is this the only terminal or are there others? I wish you could show more of what other things it can control. Just for the fun of it. hehe
GENIAL!
:)
Your House is amazing! I wish i had a house like yours!!
Hi, it´s do it yourself programmed using c#.
I want this in my home so I can play music from the speakers that I would have connected to this system. I would want to be able to control every computer in my home from this terminal.
richtig geil gemacht....welche software hast du denn dafür verwendet??
I like it, and could propably spend hours with it :-)
I also like that you included a 47.
Wow, looks really nice. Do you have a website where you have documented this some more? I'd love to implement something like this but I'd need some help to start. :)
cool, how did you program it, are you some guy at home who loves computers or do you actually have a job in that sort of stuff
How much for building this into a house? ^^
Will you be selling this software?
Ok, that's just way too cool! Well done! :)
what kinda person developer software, advertizes this but doesn't port their code?
Planning on releasing this software? Would it be "Graphically custoumable"? Would it be open source?? Please............... let it be :D
Not quite there: lacking the correct sounds, as previously mentioned, and it's very, very slow responding to your input, e.g. navigating to sub-menus.
It's entirely custom made, and programmed in XML.
Awesome dude!
I have 3 questions:
1) How did you got a serial communication between raspberry pi and arduino?

xa9000 That's unbelievable! someone made a similar concept on a raspi and Arduino. can't believe this was 9 years ago
Aaah, this is so cool, there's no word for how cool this is. :p
amazing,
thank you Gene Roddenberry
it is wired. the compete house electric is EIB
Fantastic ! I love it, great job !
wow awesome house!
This is pretty cool!
Wauw. Amazing. Looks great. Good job.
Just fantastic. I want one!
holy shit this is insane....a dream come true!
Hi, you can´t buy it. It is done by "do it yourself"
OK, first, I find this awesome! Excellent graphics, very Next Generation format, superb job. One thing I would change if I could even come close to creating something like this would be the sounds used. To me, they didn't seem all that Trekkie. That being said...where can I buy one?!
cool project!
Impressive!
Very cool!
einfach nur AWSOME!!!
I MUST HAVE THIS.
This is amazing!

Seeehr geil gemacht

Awesome!
