- These shows just weren't the same after these actors left

From fly-on-the-wall mockumentaries to intense procedural dramas, practically every kind of TV Show has a story about a cast member leaving. Television formats are inherently difficult to shoot for given their rapid production timelines and hectic schedules. Unlike movies, TV Shows are expected to tirelessly deliver quality content that's at par (or even more than) the production value of a feature film. TV Actors live under tremendous stress and are often forced to take a new look at their contracts before signing on to further seasons. And when that doesn't form the premise of a TV Show actor leaving their titular roles, the prospect of more deep and enriching careers does. Television brings a lot of talent out of obscurity and several actors like Dan Stevens, Chad Murray, Hilarie Burton and Topher Grace have made the choice of leaving their television personas behind in search of better opportunities. Whether it's in pursuit of a movie career or a more meaty role on another series, this video looks at a diverse list of actors who either quit their iconic shows or were forced to leave. And in most cases- even the ones in which TV shows were able to pick it up after suffering a blow to their ratings- the original charm and integrity of the storyline was compromised with these actors' departures.

This video is easy - show me a video where a main character leaves and the show got BETTER!
Parks and recreation- leslies love interest in the beginning. He left and the show got better, he was a main character.
@@georgehernandez2156 I was thinking when Trapper John left MASH and BJ Honeycutt took his place
Like charmed maybe
When nina dobrev left tvd for 2 seasons
Game of thrones until the last season lol
How about Top 1 UA-cam Channels that will become Unpopular when An Actor Leaves?
When Ryan George left Screenrant...
Did he?
or Kyle left because Science
Eric tabach left buzzfeed
*leaves
Which he won't, given that they're his meal ticket
HE LEFT???
I'm actually fine with Gina not being in Brooklyn nine nine. I would be bummed if Rosa or Amy left.
I’m one of the supposedly few people who hated Gina
Never really like Gina, the best Gina is when she act like Jake's childhood friend
I never liked Gina, if anyobe had to go I'm glad it's her. She was a wierdo in a bad way, like she was awful to people yet somehow still succeeded?
I'd honestly be more bummed if Skully and Hitchcock left rather than her.
well gina was almost kinda meant to be hated. yes she did have funny moments, but she was pretty much cringe most of the time.
@@lucanovellino1010 facts
B99 is still doing well after Gina left imo
Exactly. Yeah her character had some great moments (as well as some frustrating ones lol) but the rest of the cast is so dynamic it honestly didn't make a big difference when she left.
Damn right brother
When Jerry O'Connell and John Rhys-Davies left, "Sliders" hasn't been the same...
I don’t know why I even clicked on this video, I’m only subbed to this channel for the pitch meetings sketches. All the other list videos on this channel are just bleh.
I was thinking the same thing haha
Community wasn't the same after the two of them left I was very sad as well I loved that show and it really went downhill but it didn't stop me from watching it all
I am watching Cominuty on Netflix and while they were a very important part of the show, the removal of the creator of the show is the bigger problem with it then the departures of these characters. Their replacements did try to do something, but even the opening with the obviously missing names just makes me think that the opening song was eventually a description of seasons 5 and 6.
Sometimes I am glad a show dies on a high and is not left to rot for a final season of disappointment.
The last episode was terrible
That Paul Rudd comment is the truth for real. Dude still looks just as good in his late 40’s as he did in his 20’s
I think he turned 50 this year or last.
Yuppp
@@3TeamsMedia yuppp
I'll will come back when the comments have ripened
So we’re all just going to ignore the whole “Downtown” Abbey part?
Gina's departure definitely felt but the show was not ruined , it was not as bad as any other show in this video.
Awesome video 👌
Lethal Weapon. I was surprised at how much I loved that show but it's just impossible to have that show without Clayne Crawford as Riggs
I agree. Trying to do Lethal Weapon without Riggs is like peanut butter and Jelly with no peanut butter!
After Danny Masterson was forced to leave The Ranch, the series had only one more season
This and Kevin Spacey I mean what he did was shitty but House of Cards wasn't the same after he left the show but I get it
Almost everything Jim Henson created pretty much died when he did, aside from Sesame Street, The Dark Crystal & The Muppets (2011) & Muppets Most Wanted. Disney just doesn't know how to create clever Muppet content.
Or any clever content for that matter
Yuppp
The 2015 Muppets was trying to find itself during the first season and finally did before ABC cancelled it
When Rory Cochrane left CSI Miami.
And when Christopher Meloni left Law and Order SVU...
When what's his name left CSI, too. The character that went deaf.
I'd add criminal minds, as well.
And NCIS after Tony and ziva left
@@scottmatznick6461 You mean Grissom? I agree.
@@scottmatznick6461 I'd forgotten about I'd stopped watching CM when Paget Brewster left! Yes, she came back but I wasn't interested anymore.
Community was never the same after Troy and Shirley it just wasn’t the GREENDALE SEVEN without them :(
It must have been super hard barely a convenience for these actors
What about Oneil from Stargate!!!
It limped along because he never fully left and Daniel, Teal'c and Carter were still great. Claudia Black is likable enough.
I'd take the 2-3 worse last seasons of SG-1 over the crappy space soap opera that was Stargate Universe.
@@Dan55888 Indeed
14:36 my dad watches this show still since conchata ferrel passed away
I was waiting to see Travis Fimmel name for Vikings on this video but it's not there.
That '70s Show and Two and a Half Men were perfect examples of TV shows that were loved until some of those show's cast members left!
I still remember Charlie Sheen's exit.....people were literally behaving as if it was the end of the World
TV Shows should end when an important actor leaves
Or dies
Mentions Three's Company, but not John Ritter's last show: 8 Simple Rules. After he died, that show wasn't the same.
Same with News Radio never coming close to what it was post-Hartman.
@@RagnarokMic I forgot about that show.
Thought The Magicians would make the list.
Same!!!!
Downtown abbey was just a daydream in Legions mind, he didn't leave, he just got up off the couch and went back to his day
4:18 Oh yeah... that dude happened as well... thanks for reminding...
Cough Fear The Walking Dead Cough! As soon as the actress that played Madison left, the show went downhill
almost noone watched/wathes that junk though
It's been so long since I've watched you- 😅
@@Hearse_curse same
Yeah
When Terry Farrell left Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Yasssss! And they replaced Jadzia Dax with Ezri Dax, the character was much more mild and timid compared to Terri Farrell’s character as a strong-willed Jadzia.
I was pissed when Nina Dobrev left Vampire Diaries, even though I was so sick of them having to rescue her. I knew the show was going to go downhill and it did.
The office better be on here...
Troy and Michael and Young Henry are my too 3
Once ;s Henry I agree
I think Dinozzo leaving was more upsetting than Abby. The show was never the same without him Abby leaving is just her getting off a sinking ship
Maybe you can add squidbillies since Stuart D. Baker got fired from the adult swim mainstay
"Procedural cop show"?
I get that you can't watch all this stuff, but you got to do more than just skim the wiki.
Erlich Bachmann, Silicon Valley. This could be personal but after T.J left the show Jobs-Wozniak dynamics between Richard and Erlich that was established earlier completely shattered. Silicon Valley was never the same again after he left. I am pretty sure Erlich was liked by many SV fans.
I'm surprised Ron Howard leaving Happy Days isn't on here.
I feel like I should bring this up Hawaii five-0 is a case of a show that wants they lost actors it didn’t feel the same
Where the hell is house of cards???
I didn't watch this but my family did, how come they didn't mention any of the criminal minds character deaths, like almost the whole cast left.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is another one. It wasn't the same after Grissom's departure halfway through season 9.
What about Fi and So Weird?
How the Hell is News Radio not on this list, the moment that show and the world lost Phil Hartman AKA "Bill McNeal" it was done. They tried to replace him with Jon Lovitz but that ship sank quick.
DownTOWN Abbey? Seriously? I wasn't a huge fan. I preferred Baking Bad and The Big Man Theory 😂
I never watched OTH but I had a crush on CMM ever since he was in Cinderella Story with Hillary Duff.
Although Donald Glover's departure was very upsetting, the real reason why Community was ruined is firing the creator Dan Harmon. Also, B99 is still doing well after Gina's departure.
Broh after Troy left there was just this humongous hole , there was no more Troy and Abed in the mooooorning😭
Losing Clayne Crawford was what killed Lethal Weapon, all the magic was gone once he got himself booted.
You is but big fan good stuff
this channel has 7.6 million subscribers but barely pulls 16,800 views in a time span of 11 hours
I know plenty of channels with a fraction of this one's subs that can pull 10 times those views in less than an hour.
but yet when a pitch meeting is uploaded, these numbers seem to skyrocket up to the hundred thousands, the most recent pitch meeting being at 466k right now.
god, sometimes I truly wonder if Ryan's back is made of vibranium, because carrying this much weight would definitely have snapped it by now.
What about bunk’ed? The 3 season was so bad!
When Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher left that 70s show :(
Also I forgot Gina was in b99. It was better after she left tbh.
Number 18 was confusing because i thought that white guy man character left and they brought in sean willam scott ?? I didnt know waynes left too wtf??
Spin city when Michael J Fox left
Also community lost is mojo when Chevy left
what about the main actor in Blue's Cluse?
I’ve seen 8 of these shows. The office, community, that 70s show, ncis, brooklyn nine nine, superstore, two and a half men and once upon a time not really into dramas so. Did see a bit of top gear and would watch three’s company i guess
And who the hell can watch more than one episode of Grey's anatomy?
I dont think this writer understands the meaning of the world titular. Fox was definitely the most important and iconic character in the show but if he was actually the "titular character", either he would have had to be named "x-files", or the show was secretly named "fox mulder".
What about when grace park left Hawaii five o the new one
Once upon a time and vampire diaries idk if eithers on the list just had to say that without the female leads the show wasn’t worth watching any longer
It's official, I, most likely absolutely no one to you, watch this channel only for the pitch meetings.
Steve Carell is why I couldn't get into the Office and didn't make it very far into the series.
I don't think Community was ruined by Glover and Brown leaving. I feel like its fall in quality was a result of a number of issues.
Vikings when they killed off Ragnar. House of Cards when Kevin Spacey was let go. Roseanne without Roseanne. Boardwalk Empire after killing off Jimmy.
I agree, House of Cards just wasn't the same after Spacey's departure
Boardwalk Empire was still solid enough post-Jimmy, even if was a huge missing part.
@@RagnarokMic it had its moments yes but after they killed off Jimmy it was like a totally different show
You forgot The O.C. when Mischa Barton left. The show went to hell immediately afterwards
Sweets and Abby are the only ones who actually hurt me but also how's about doing one just about NCIS as it's lost Kate, Shepard, Gerald, Ziva 💔, Abby 😭, Quinn, Vance and I believe Gibbs aka Mark Harmon is also leaving the franchise
I bet Pitch Meetings would be here if Ryan decides to quit.
"Ruined" is wayyyy too strong. Calm down.
I don't understand why once upon a time had a 7th season
2 and a Half Men had to be the most pathetic show I have seen after Charlie Sheen left. They tried every trick in the book to get that show going again. Mega guest stars, hot lesbian characters, they even tried a black Jake for a few episodes.
Yupp
Ragnar from vikings
If you left after season 2 of misfits and missed the time travel story arc of Simon and aleasha, well sux to be you
"Downtown Abbey", seriously?
Actors leaving their own tv shows
Community was never the same after Glover.
Lana Lang in Smallville
I was happy to see her go. She was just a whiney pain plot device or occasionally a bad forced "girl power" bs.
I hated Lois at first but honestly she became my favorite character by the end. Yeah the last seasons were downhill but I dont think it was because Lana was gone.
@@Dan55888 They could never make her interesting, they made her an orphan, found her real father, made her a Kung Fu witch, and she was STILL a dull character
Y’know what I personally think that Community Season 5 and 6 were still good but not as good as the first 3 seasons.
"Downtown" Abbey? Ugh.
Does Spartacus count
Not quite, because the show was still very good, even if the replacement wasn't nearly as good as the titular character.
The show wasn't called Downtown Abby 😑
Uptown?
Slider was a good show
No Troy and pierce not really Shirley
CSI losing grisom that should be on list
Eww, no I was glad Gina was gone, the show was absolutely not dependant on her. She was annoying and not center
The Office wasn't ruined by Carell leaving. His character was already one of the biggest flaws through the series.
It was unfortunate Gina left B99, but it didn't ruin the show. It was still good.
Community wasn't ruined because some characters left, but as a result of other issues.
Pls say 2and a half man
B99 workout gina is perfectly fine. She was a eh side joke character at best
Dammit
I hated Gina. Was SO HAPPY to see her go
I have never been this early
Donald Glovor...
shameless wasn't ruined by her leaving they just started reusing plots
4th view here. I’ve never been this early, not even my own birth.
I’m 4th then
I am so early people in the comments are saying first
Ok
