Emma Samms really didn't capture the fiery Fallon from seasons 1 - 4 until season 9. And Karen Cellini, she's a good actress, but this Amanda was flat and dull. Wrong role for her.
Well Amanda changed from a beautiful young English women to an American who looks older then her much older sister and Fallon changed from an american women to an English women who also became younger and looked alot younger then her much younger Sister. No wonder I was confused has a child.

Recently I started to watch "Dynasty" from 1st season. When I watched the show first time almost 30 years ago Fallon for me it was Emma Samms. I was too young to remember Pamela Sue Martin. But now I have a great respect for Pamela Sue Martin. Emma Samms seems so strange, even her voice is completely different than Martin's.
What was worse, was this was the only interaction between Fallon and Amanda. On the new DYNASTY if they bring amanda into it, I hope her and Fallon at least have story together.
Everything seems to be quite changed there. Sammy Jo is a man and what more? Who knows? I haven't seen more than the clips on youtube, but I don't recognise any person out from the original story. I saw this original Dynasty back in the 80s and also the repeats in the 90s. So I know what I am talking about.
They should’ve never let go of Catherine Oxenberg.....she only asked for a small increase in salary, but instead they let her go, and do a horrible job in recasting the role. And then proceeded to write the character into oblivion. There’s so much potential they could’ve had,,,,but instead just wrote the stupid race for governor plot.

Fallon was not only one of the original characters, but an intregal part of the first 4 seasons (and to be one of the primary characters for the Dynasty spin-off). So, to so badly recast the character is inexcusable. As for Amanda, she was never an important character, but her recasting is laughable.
I think the problem with Samms had less to do with the recast and more to do with the writing--it took a serious turn for the worse in Seasons 5 and 6, got laughably bad in 7 and 8 and on The Colbys, and only got better in Season 9. Once she had some decent scripts to work with, Samms got much better.

Actually, at the time, Aaron said he saw Emma guest starring on another of his show's, Hotel, which aired right after Dynasty and that's when he decided to make her the new Fallon.
Emma Samms had never watched Dynasty when she appared in series, according herself. She didn't know who Fallon was at all..... So playing a carachter as a recast without knowing how this person was, was really tough.
Apparently Fallon #2 didn't watch the season 1 DVDs. Otherwise she'd recall that Michael was never anything more than a reliable fuck-buddy to cheat on Jeff with. She was never "in love" with Michael nor was she ever "hurt" by him (Fallon would've had to care to do that.)

Fallon inquiring why her "secret" sister looks nothing like she did the year before (and losing her English accent). Then Amanda could ask (in her new American accent) why Fallon looks NOTHING like the Fallon she saw in that painting given to Blake for Christmas a couple years earlier. This season managed to make the Moldavian Massacre debacle look like Shakespeare by comparison!
Agree 100%. This was one of the more bizarre moments of Season 7; we'd never seen that Fallon and Amanda had *any* sort of relationship, and now they're acting like they grew up together. Made zero sense. And physically, the roles the writers are trying to force them into just don't work. Amanda is 7-8 years *younger* than Fallon, and she looks about 10 years older in this scene.

I can't believe no one is mentioning the hideous clothes! They look like soccer moms getting ready for a PTA meeting. Dynasty's production standards plummeted in season 7 and never recovered. Hit rock bottom in Season 9.
I know that it would be silly, but I would have had Michael tell Falling that she looked a bit different from the last time he saw her. Lol. Fallon #01 and Amanda #01 would have been kick ass together. Odd that Fallon and Amanda seem to know each other since they never met face to face before.

Seasons 7 and 8 suffered from poor writing and boring plot lines. It didn’t help matters by the recasting of three major characters. What was the logic in replacing American Pamela Sue Martin with the very British accented Emma Samms and then the British accented Catherine Oxenberg with American Karen Cellini. Aaron Spelling was a genius at creating hit shows then ultimately destroying them.
So much is wrong here. Casting (wrong actress), acting (wooden), writing (boring ), directing (couldnt the director tell K.C. to stop grinning?). For me Dynasty is the most impressive example how a worldwide successfull top show ruins itself.

Catherine was more of a doll face, Karen is less refined. So Catherine's Amanda is just the sweetheart. Also Catherine's Amanda had English accent and royalty schtik; Karen is American , and altho I never watched her, cos I don't have series after the season where Catherine was last in the series, I can see Karen really acts as if she fell from Mars and only amused.
Only if we could have seen Catherine Oxenberg & Pamela Sue Martin work together, the chemistry between those two would've been awesome.
