When he got injured last year, I thought his best days were over, and I was frustrated with the Angels for not utilizing his talent. But to my surprise, he adapted his game and elevated it even further. I’m not sure if his arm will ever dominate the way it used to, but like Babe Ruth, his hitting might reach new heights. Plus, there’s a chance he’ll play in the outfield once he's done pitching. Even though I’m primarily a football and basketball fan, I’m Shohei’s biggest supporter because I simply appreciate greatness. Here’s to witnessing more broken sports records!

He was one step short of having a triple and a cycle too. What shocks me is that he is not a small guy. Except for maybe Canseco, I can't think of anyone else who is a big power hitter who is/was as fast. Well, I'm going to enjoy this season, because if he pitches in 2025, the Dodgers are going to shut down his baserunning and probably only going to let him play around 130 games as a hitter. If he's going to be a starter in the rotation, the Dodger's management are going to look like idiots if they let the guy get hurt running around out there.

I highly doubt there will be any mention of Shoei Ohtani's name in the narrative of the '20s of the 21st century when studying American history. He hasn't influenced an entire generation, the way Ruth and the other athletes I mentioned influenced an era, 100 years ago. One thing though, the 1920s was the first decade in American history where sports invaded the culture. We have had 100 years now of professional sports being a regular part of American society. The 2020s is just another part of that 100 years. as for the black guy reference, do you know that every school history textbook mentions Jackie Robinson and students have been made well aware of his contribution to equal rights? Also, he’s almost like Michael Phelps in the sense that he is the perfect baseball player. His swing reminds me of Ken Griffey Jr’s. It’s so effortless, but b/c he’s 6’3” and 205-210, it’s incredibly powerful. Wait until next year when he starts pitching again.
