Yes they have the scariest voice! My son has one just like Dinky and he scared me to death until I found out how gentle he is. A little boy just ran up to him and I had a death grip on his leash. He crouched down to the level of the child so he could pet him. My son came in the house wearing a scary clown mask. He growled and then hid behind my son's girlfriend!
The dramatic flop down just seals it, LOL.
I died when Dinky flopped over in his fit of jealousy. My Great Dane, Kane, does the exact same thing. I love your Danes and couldn't imagine my life without a Great Dane in it.
The first time I heard my son's Great Dane talk the voice scared me half to death!

I love this video!! Fell in love w big boy named Mario , I will never forget him. Now I want one so bad. I was messing w Marlo one time .. he was sittings up panting , and looking happy from his couch and satd 'Jim, let's just go get a cat" just like a normal conversation. Marlo would instantly close his mouth and turn his head and not look. at us . Same thing every time after that. Sooo cute!! He knew alot of what you were saying .they are great dogs!!

That dog could be the most lovable creature, but if I heard a growl like that I would run for the mountains.
We dane owners are familiar with Dinky style sass ... they "talk" like that and some other very "wookie" like sounds.

That sound is so typical Dane and utterly harmless. My Dane used to make that noise at me every evening when I came home from work. He seemed to be saying "And just where have you been all day? I was worried sick because I couldn't look after you. Do not ever leave me again!" They are very sensitive and expressive dogs. These are 2 of the best loved and best cared for dogs of my acquaintance. And well mannered. If Dinky were not well trained, do you think he'd stay on that couch, just on his Poppas tone of voice?
ElmerTigger Aw, you're blessed to know them. I'd like to have a couple of Danes just like those some day. I've always had rescues, and currently have two awesome pups, but Danes need a lot more space than I can provide at the moment.
Lily Jameson, they are a truly wonderful breed. They do not, however require a lot of space. Our Elmer, who we lost, just 10 weeks ago, shared our 1500sf condo in the city with us. We took him to day care, dog parks, the dog beach, street festivals, even a bar or 2 for his friends' birthday parties, he got plenty of exercise and plenty of socialization and plenty of play. Plus he played with his kitten sister at home. Then he, like most Danes, would curl up in the most surprisingly small ball and sleep. So long as he was with his peeps he was a happy pup. They are not called heartbreak dogs for nothing, though. Our sweet boy was not quite 5 when we lost him. Though I am aware of numerous Danes 8, 9, and 10 years old, and even a few up to 13.
So it's a cow and a horse...

So sorry for your loss you guys. Our hearts weep with you. I've followed for years...one of my family's all time favorite videos. I can almost smell that hot dog breath on my face whenever I watch 😂 When one of our danes gets jealous of the other receiving pats we explain, "it's their turn for lovies 😁" He lived a long and peaceful life, I know you're heart broken but I hope that you find peace in the love and memories he gave you all. Take care. Thank you for sharing Dinky with the world...he was the goodest boy.
Danes are the best. So adorable and yet so blissfully unaware of their own immense size. Whereas actual lap dogs can be aloof and may prefer to be left alone, as soon as you sit down on the couch, the Great Dane thinks to himself: "Ooo! Snuggles time!" And next thing you know, you've got 120 pounds of canine leaping onto your lap for "lovies."
Gentlemen Beware: As adorable and cuddly as Danes are, you MUST protect your private parts, because they WILL get stepped on. And when a Great Dane paw is crushing your balls, that shit HURTS!
Other than that, Danes are the best dogs! LOL. :-p

1. This video is absolutely adorable and goes to show just how much personality animals can have.
2. Both dogs are male.
3. The guy was not "stroking" the other dog but believe it or not there are muscles down there that can get arthritis in Great Danes
4. The fact that he is rubbing down his dogs muscles means he DOES care about them and isn't neglecting them because Great Danes can have muscle issues and
5. He did indeed say "too" which probably means Dinky got his massage already and just wants more attention.

elzpi The only time it's acceptable is if you're filming something inherently vertical and you can't move back far enough to film it horizontally and get everything important in the frame. No matter what, it always looks terrible. There is a very good reason that monitors and TVs and movie theater screens are always wider than they're tall, it's because our eyes are horizontal and we see in widescreen, not tallscreen!

She had to move the camera, numbnuts. If she would've filmed horizontally (aka: properly), she would've gotten everything within frame and wouldn't have had to move back and forth between him and the dog.
For the longest time I ignored it but people don't stop. It's become incredible annoying. It's amazing how simply-minded people are. If they're given more than one option they lose their minds and forget how to function or operate anything. Makes me wonder how so many people drive when they have to choose to turn left or right. They somehow remember that, but can only figure out how to hold a phone one way. Not to mention it's completely inexcusable if any of these people have held a real camera in their entire lives.
*sighs* I really sound like an asshole. I know. And this video was still enjoyable. But that doesn't change that I couldn't ignore those annoying as hell black bars on the side that are PLAGUING videos on the internet.
