I saw Rammstein for the first time over 20 years ago in Sydney, and it's still the best concert I've ever been to. I'm 38 and I've been to a lot of concerts and Rammstein is EPIC.
BTW: when the singer Till beats his right knee with his fist, that was once due to a medical condition. His kneecap had this unfortunate habit of popping out on stage. But he's such a bad-ass that he actually beat it back into position on stage. Later this became his signature move.
You either absolutely love this band or get scared shitless by them. If you love then its like another super energetic mental dimension slotted into your mind.

Finally, finally, finally - probably the best live version of "Du hast". That was epic. The look on Annie's face when the fireworks hit the stage was priceless, btw.
So cool that you're introducing your daughter to all of this music. I had to find it myself, and then in turn had to introduce my parents to it. I even brought my almost 60 year old mother with me to a Rammstein concert a couple of years ago, and she absolutely loved it.
Yes, Rammstein rocks. Have seen them twice, Germany and Prague. In 2022 in Göteborg Sweden. Their live Performance is spectacular and their lyrics are awesome, a lot of times with double meanings. Greetings from Germany.
I flew from Germany all the way to Barcelona to see them perform live ass all concert in Germany were completely sold out. And you cannot image the gooseflesh it was giving me to stand in a crowd of 50.000 spanish people singing word by word in German. And the performance was exactly as awsome as I hoped!
So true about the tickets selling out in minutes.. Was lucky enough to see them on their European Stadium tour in Oslo. It's not just a concert, it's an experience. My 16 year old son had a blast!
Your daughter will be hooked when she goes to her first concert! The energy that is at concerts are so addictive, it draws you in. I am about to turn 56, and I still have memories of the first concert I went to with my Aunt, God rest her soul, the concert was Led Zeppelin and that instilled me with the love of all music!!!
I have seen live Rammstein 3 times already. Last time it was in Prague 2019. Their latest live tour is even more epic then the previous ones. It was the best time of my life.
When I was about 10 years old my father showed me Rammstein for the first time and I am still a huge fan of this band after over 10 years. I think it's nice to see that Rammstein unites the generations with their music, videos and live performances. Not many musicians can do that.
I saw Rammstein live in Baltimore MD last time they were in the U.S. I don't speak German but it was still the best concert I've ever been to. Already have tickets to their upcoming concert at FedEx Field, praying this COVID19 doesn't screw it up

It would be interesting to see your daughter's reaction to the live performance of "Mein Teil". On the one hand, I'm not sure if that's appropriate for her age. On the other hand, Rammstein concerts are a kind of family events here in Germany (or Europe in general). The spoken form of the title is a play on words that can mean both “you have” (the translation of the written form) and “you hate” the English version uses "you hate" in the lyrics
You will get surprised if I tell you in Mexican Spanish the word play hast/hasst is preserved by the equal pronunciation of "tú has (you have)" and "tú haz (you do)". Since the context makes the distinction between has/haz, until you complete the sentence "du hast mich gefragt (you have me asked/tú hasme preguntado [not an usual order of the sentence, it's more archaic])" you can get the actual meaning of the phrase even in the Mexican Spanish translation.
This is what is called a homophone. It is pronounced exactly the same, it has two different meanings depending on its spelling. The actual meaning is only obvious in writing. In the spoken language this is only obvious in context. If it is done like Rammstein does it, then the homophone results in two possible meanings, obviously intentionally. Obviously, this does not translate well into English as the placement of subject, verbs, and objects is a bit different. As such this doesn't work in English.
Exactly, it's a play on words for the listeners. It takes forever for them to find out if it is hate or have. They only get to know when he finally says gefragt, meaning asked.
Rammstein - they are the most well-known band around the world .... and they do Industrial Metal This band pushed me to go further to listen more metal bands ( sorry my english is a little broken )
As a German I can tell you there is nothing better than a Rammstein show. Maybe another reaction to Rammstein - Deutschland? This video is a master piec and tells a lot about the history of Germany. Much love from Germany.
Rammstein are my favorite band. I found them when I was 12, and have loved them for half my life. I have a tattoo! I wouldn’t be here if not for their music. They saved me more times, more completely, than I can ever begin to express. I saw them live for the first time in 2019, and will be seeing Lindemann and Rammstein this year. Du Hast means ‘you have’, but Till is the king of double entendre so it’s also you hate’. It’s about giving up drugs, with the woman being a metaphor for drugs, and wedding vows continuing that metaphor. They are heavy metal, but I love the industrial side of it. Neue Deutsche Harte is an awesome genre. I will tell you, however, because she is underage and is your daughter: Rammstein’s work is often very sexual/dark/can be demented. A lot of it is artistic/poetic, and interpretations of older stories. As a result, it can be pretty ‘out there’. Sexual assault, rape, murder, etc etc etc aren’t off limits for Rammstein. But I definitely recommend looking up and really studying the lyrics. Till is a genius on that front.
When I took my daughter to her first concert I thought she was going to be the one just standing there. Man was I wrong. She was headbanging screaming singing and just letting loose. It was awesome.
Rammstein is AWESOME!! I've been a Rammstein fan for 20 years!! Greetings from Germany, "du hast" translates to "you have", but a little twist in this song is that it sounds the same as "du hasst" which means "you hate". I don't know if that was intended, but the band stated that most of their songs are dealing with love in more than one aspect. The song builds up from "you" to "you have asked me" to "you have asked me and I have said nothing". Then the refrain kicks in with wedding vows that are answered with a no. At least to my understanding. It's a bit weird because based on the wording itself it is a wedding vow that is held by an official in a registry office. In the weddings, that I was a guest in, the official asks in a way that the answer is either yes or now, the bride and groom don't recite the text themselves. "Willst du bis der Tod uns scheidet Treue sein für alle Tage" means "do you want to be faithful (to me) till death do us part" & "Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheidet Sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen" means "Do you want, till death who separates, love her even in bad days" So the first part seems to be asked by the partner and the second part seems to be asked by an official/ external person based on the wording itself. Also "scheiden" can be translated to separate and to divorce. To my understanding, the text deals with saying no at a wedding as long as "you have asked me and I have said nothing" is addressed towards an official. If "you have asked me..." addresses the partner, I would guess that it deals with saying no to a marriage proposal.
You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing [Chorus] Do you want, until death separates you To be faithful to her for all days (Yes) No (Yes) No Do you want, until death, which would separate To love her, even in bad days (Yes) No (Yes) No [Verse] You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing [Chorus] Do you want, until death separates you To be faithful to her for all days (Yes) No (Yes) No Do you want, until death, which would separate To love her, even in bad days (Yes) No (Yes) No Do you want, until death separates you To be faithful to her for all days (Yes) No (Yes) No

You have
You have me
You have asked me and I said nothing
So now the point is because he said nothing to the proposal he plays with hate and have.
It would be like:
You
You hate
You hate me
Because i said nothing
So thats the double meaning! 😅
I hope you understand my explanation!
hast is in present tense so it should be "have" instead of "had" so this one line should be "you have asked me and I said nothing" other than that it's on point
Also - "feuer" means "fire". That's basically what you need to know about Rammstein.
du hast is you have in English not you had

you have
You have me
You asked me and I didn't say anything.

"du hast" actually means you have
"du hasst" means you hate
That's the thing about this song 😉
U got.. 😉😉😉😉😉😊😊
If you don’t start banging your head when you hear this song, then you ain’t right 😜

Literally he is singing:“You hate me, you hate me…“, plus „gefragt“ which does sound identically to „You have me asked / you have asked me
When I took my daughter to her first concert I thought she was going to be the one just standing there. Man was I wrong. She was headbanging screaming singing and just letting loose. It was awesome.

Greetings from Germany,
"du hast" translates to "you have", but a little twist in this song is that it sounds the same as "du hasst" which means "you hate".
"Willst du bis der Tod uns scheidet Treue sein für alle Tage" means "do you want to be faithful (to me) till death do us part"
&
"Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheidet Sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen" means "Do you want, till death who separates, love her even in bad days"
So the first part seems to be asked by the partner and the second part seems to be asked by an official/ external person based on the wording itself.
Amazing part is it’s a bunch of French fans singing in German!😁

I was stationed in Germany for 25 years (1990-2005 and 2006-2016), and I remember when Rammstein first came out. The great worry was that they were a right-winged band because of some of things they did (such as rolling their R's). Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case, and I enjoy hearing their music, as it's played, when I'm listening to Rockland Radio out of Mainz (or out of Trier), Germany (via Rockland's app on Simple Radio).
Rolling your R's is a dumb way to be accused of being right winged. It's just the Germanic language, Iceland also rolls their R's.
@@mikkitoro8933 I said "...such as..." in rolling the R's. I know the German language, as I'm fluent after being stationed there for 25 years. Most Germans do not roll their R's.
"So would you go to Paris with me for this?"
Her: "No"
Also her: *Sees Richard Kruspe shirtless*
Still her: "Dad, when does the plane leave???"
Seriously, i feel like the whole band has barely aged a day in over 10 years. Props to you as a dad for sharing this with her. Hopefully you'll get to take her to a show once this quarantine thing is over with. I brought my 6 year old to Motley Crue and he LOVED it!!! 🤘🤘🤘
That look of pride when she said "I *liked* that song" :D
The first time I started listening to them was when I was 13-14 years old. Now I'm 30 and I'm finally will attend their concert next summer! Cant wait.
