I remember the thunder sounds at 2:55 - 4:00 originally debuted in the 1981 Indiana Jones movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Then after that, Horta Editorial used those thunder sounds quite a bit in the 80s and 90s on various shows and movies they worked on (mostly animated), and I've also heard West Productions use them in the 90s on the shows they worked on as well.
