Still one of the greatest films ever made
THE...
I beg for its 50th anniversary which is next year in 2019, that the 1969 version comes back to the cinema for a week, cause I’ll be 100% watching it
It came true I watched it today!!
@@KenzForShort there is another Italian job made in 2003 but its utter crap
They did that for the 75th anniversary of the Dambusters and I was in the kinema in the woods at Woodhall Spa where the Dambusters were based after the dams raid
When they showed this in the cinema's for the 50th anniversary I booked tickets for myself and the rest of the family to see the screening of the film. At the time this was released in 1969 my mother was only 5 and my dad was just 2 so this was their first chance of seeing it on the big screen, everyone shouted your only supposed to blow the bloody doors off too.
"Hey, I think we could do this much quicker and safer if we just stop for a moment"
"Nah, this is way more fun"
Not much traffic on the motorway.
Still held up in Turin.
....Sounds about right. 👍
And totally inconspicuous... The locals do that all the time...
If they stopped the police may have caught them
I always laugh hard when co-driver in blue said nervously "Be Very Careful" it always gets me haha love it true British classic
The characters name is "Camp Freddie"
The “Ok, hang on.” from Tony gets me every time 🤣
I love the ‘Hurry up Dominic’ line from Michael Caine a bit earlier on too, so many great lines
I know the “you’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off” line is the most celebrated of this fantastic movie but for me I just crack up at Michael Caine’s bolshy “Get the... Get the wheels in line... the wheels in line!!!”
"And then slam your brakes on or we'll be in the cabin!" 😂
"Should have used more speed on the up, accelerate"
The minis where as mutch characters as the cast.
Totally.
The red Mini's license plate says HMP, ironic because Charlie Croker, who rode in the red Mini, did time at HMP Wormwood Scrubs.
Are You lot idiots?
100% Fiat offered the producers as many cars as they wanted if they used them for the heist. But they held firm and used British minis
Apparently, when the studio heads saw the rushes of this they absolutely freaked. If any one of those drivers had been an inch out going up the ramp, the guy standing at the back of the bus waving them on would have been flattened. Watch it again - the last car up doesn't miss him by much, does it?
Which just increases your admiration for the stunt work, really.
Matthew Wild The guy on the back being the director, which is probably why the concern
Peter Collinson - he did it himself as Paramount and some others had concerns about a stuntman doing this, so the director did it himself. Got to admire it.
That was the director Peter Collinson in the coach.
RIP Tony Beckley who played Camp Freddie.
A brilliant actor.
He also played Peter The Dutchman in Get Carter.
I've seen this move about 48 times but i still love it
Love Those Engine Revs / Forever.
Thank You Darling.
the Original or the Remake ?
same.. got this dvd, great caper film, proud to be a brit🇬🇧🏴
It's a classic
You cannot film any better even after 47 years. Wonderful craft.
Ikr
I watched this film when I was a boy and I thought it was one of the best films of all time👌
The blue mini cooper is the bad boy of the 3 mini's who doesn't listen or co-operate or like taking orders
The red mini is the good boy of the 3 always agreeable and totally dependable and acts as the leader
The white mini cooper is like the elderly grandad of the 3 mini's who looks out for red and blue and proves he's not just some rusty hunk of junk and can bring it when push comes to shove
That is more accurate than it should be
Bro theyre cars
@@photoskathesis the writers gave the mini's so much personality that's what makes them so memorable today :D
@@photoskathesis They have more character than the actual people
The car chase scene is definitely the most iconic part of the movie imo
my favourite film of all time
Massey Ferguson Get a Bloomin move on
I can't be the only one with the original PS1 game?
Nope. I also had it
I had the ps2 game
God, I miss that game!
Yep got one too
I got stuck on the prison level for so long, I didn't know what to do to pick the guy up! Back then you couldn't just hop on UA-cam for a guide. I bought magazines and everything trying to find the answer, then one day I found one guide that explained it (on the whole internet!) At that moment I ran upstairs and drove straight through those doors blasting the horn, I was so frickin' happy!
The man standing at the back of the bus is Peter Collinson, the director.
RIP Peter. He died 40 years ago.
That's right..I heard that in an interview, with Michael Caine, I think.
@@martinen.5025 40 years ago this year. Of cancer.
man these stunt drivers are good
The funny part is that the characters who drive the Minis are all posh. 🤣🤣🤣
Memories! I used to always watch this film when I was younger.
+DukE_HenrY agree. It's sad that films like this aren't made. The Italian job is such a classic.
Literally everyone over the age of 15 has seen this at some point in their lives, the point of something being a 'classic' is that everyone's seen it regardless of it's age. Trust me it'll be a lot of years before this film becomes obscure.
Me to i loved it when i was little and i still love it!!!!!
Man I miss watching this movie. Such a treat this was.
Same lol, was also obsessed with the Mini Cooper MK1.
They don't make em like this anymore
Get the wheels inline! Get the wheels inline!
This was filmed on the M6 motorway before it opened 😂
"Be very careful"
As advise goes, it's up there with, 'get the wheels in line'.
always made me laugh this scene like 10x more effort than needed there is literally no traffic and no one around they could of just stopped the bloody bus and drove on it would of been quicker.
Wouldn’t be realistic. When you just swiped a few million in Bullion, under the noses of unregulated lunatics, you’re, to be honest, dumb levels of brave, to stop *at all,* until you’re as safe as you can get. Well, minus ‘blending in with traffic’, but you get the idea.
“Be very careful” camp Freddie said calmly
2020: now that song is stuck in my head
The guy stood at the side at the rear of the coach and waving the cars in, is the films Director, Peter Collinson.
These are REAL Minis.
This is such an underrated movie
As first saw this as a seven year old boy and all I could remember were the Minis. The people were inconsequential 😂Those cars have a life of their own. Before they put me in a box I have to drive one.
"Hello Roger"
Music by Quincy Jones, who also composed "Soul Bossa Nova" aka the Austin Powers theme. Very groovy, baby!
+Max Power Oh behave!
+Max Power He composed the theme tune of sitcom 'Sanford And Son'.
You hear that harmonica-- fuckin eehh
the prison was actually a museum in Ireland Dublin
I thought it was wormwood scrubs
@@sunsetvlogs5500 they filmed michael caine leaving wormwood scrubs, but the actual interior of the prison is kilmainham prison in dublin, interestingly, the reason they had to film in dublin was because Noel Coward (mr Bridger) was a tax exile and thus couldn't film in the uk.
@@pingu255 oh cheers
@@pingu255the graveyard scene for aunt nelly was also filmed in ireland in a graveyard in the Dublin mountains. Old comment resurrection lol 😂
Would happily stand corrected on this, but I believe the bus was the only Italian Job vehicle to survive filming. It was refitted with its seats and survived in the Scottish Highlands until the mid 90s.
God I forgot how good this film was!!
Love Those Engine Revs.
52 years old this film is and Michael Caine seen here in this clip at 88 years old which is where he is now is retiring from acting
So happy retirement Michael Caine
Love the old minis
This never gets old😊👍
I've noticed something the minis have the GB stickers hehe!
The coach used is of course a Bedford VAL70 Harrington Legionnaire which was converted back to a coach after the film and I believe lived out its life in Scotland before sadly being scrapped. Pity it didn’t survive.
One of my favourite films! Check out the Italian Job rocker cover I've just painted.
Excellent one liners!
You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
Why is it in my recommendation after 7 years🤷♂️🤷♂️
Theres a reason why this film is on my top 5 favourites
My favourite film of all time - made when I was a baby.
Come on England.. it's time for another job.. Euros 2021
Brilliant! One of my favourite movies as a child!
I'm still watching this in 2022.. Anyone else?
Only those of us with good taste, friend.
This is my favourite movie of all time. Truly amazing.
I WANT ONE OF THOSE MINI's like so bad
Austin Mini Cooper s
I could never live with one of them in either red, white or blue...
If I owned all three then life would be a very straite road!
@Paul Reeves old comment he actually has two mk1 cooper s cars not from the movie but the same
Leave the beer leave the beer..NOOO!
Mini Cooper. My Favorite. I Got A 2012 Mini Cooper!
this is the revision soceity!
good old days
I knew it was familiar when Martin Sheen toured it under the context of his ancestor staying there!
Got to actually see this in the cinema last year, amazing loved this film for years
my first car in 1983 was a blue 68 mini, sliding windows similar to those in the films but not a Cooper, but it was close enough for me to my favourite film
Gosh dang, this ons scene has so much more charm than any modern film.
You cannot top classics like these 🚘 🎥
I lived in and around the Turin area and loved visiting all the places in the movie
Great movie classic love the minis , my first car was a mini it's a shame it wasn't a cooper it was a 1980 mini 1000 and I loved it 😢
First saw this as a kid. Loved it to bits especially because it had Benny Hill whom I recognised from his own TV show.
Hang on a minute lads I have got a great idea.
The 1969s version is better than the 2004 version or was it 2005 im not shore. :)
Corbyn Bailey 2003
2003. It's a very different movie to the original.
newforestroadwarrior - Yeah, it's shit.
It's even not in Italy lol
Each year version is unique. The bus is special.
Great touch them going on in red, white and blue!
Love how there are no minis in the back projection.
Ain't no cgi here
This part filmed in neither Italy, Ireland, nor England, but a newly constructed yet unopened to the public autobahn in Germany. If you look closely you can see the other side is still under construction.
Such a perfectly choreographed scene.
This brings back memory.
If I won the lottery I would happily pay however much it would cost to recreate this and drive the mini into the back of the coach, and it would be money well spent
Don't know if anyone knows but if you listened to Talk Sport radio many years ago a presenter on there call Mike Dickin always used to say he was a stunt driver in one of the minis who did this scene and the sewer tunnels. Sadly he died about ten years ago.
Lining up a little Italian Job on Sunday.. Come on England
move over Knight rider! this is where this stunt came from! And they do it three times!
1:45 Poor baby girl.... you can do it blue! :)
How I feel when i go to the car wash!
What a film.
Watch the white lines on the road they change for the green screened bits and the actual bits
What green screen? They actually drove those cars onto a moving bus
@@paultaylor781 yes they did, but with stunt drivers, the inside bits of the cars with the actors was done againsts a green screen and if you watch carefully the white lines change.
The guy at the back of the bus beckoning them on is the director
Does anyone know where the Motorway/Highway is where this was filmed, and the name of it etc? Thanks.
Ero giovanissimo quando girarono per la mia Torino, bella esperienza
My dream car is that type of bus
I played this game, i miss this so much
GOLD ! Gotta ❤ it. Whether it be bound for Wormwood Scrubs in 1969 or The Crimea in 1854 !
Mr Bridger Should have been prime minister
Michael Caine looks the same 50 years later.
Engines built by my dad at bell green engine plant coventry and he and a mate told them about sewers under coventry
I think the Minis has personality
The road is clear, no other traffic
Can you tell the bus driver to stop for a moment it will save us more time
Such a goated scene!
get the wheels in line?! class caine? england"" england""
best movie and best ending
White one was always my fav
I've always preferred the red one myself, but they're all awesome!
Me too :) my name is chris (like the driver) and he is easily the most talanted of the three! And Arthur is hilarious. Haha
*****
Oh yeah, that line is epic! :D
SLAM YER BRAKES ON!
love this movie.....good to watch🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
england🏴england🏴england🏴
iconic!!
Watching this scene on TV in the '70s always made my palms sweaty. I was annoyed by Michael Caine constantly berating his drivers during the entire process, however. Just shut up!
Superb movie old great
I heard there was a planned sequel to be made !😀
Great Film which I've watched over and over but why end it on a road that goes to no where
the prison used is in dubllin(IRELAND)
