I’ve grown up with all the symptoms undiagnosed and was assumed to just be picky and if I brought it up my parents were like “nah you just didn’t care” which is pure hurtful. My mum gave me all these supplements to try
To “calm me down” and I would completely miss out on the class instructions no matter how hard I tried to focus. K blamed it on the teacher for being bad, but studying psychology at uni now has made me realise so much about my childhood. Thanks for sharing your adhd story 🤗

I can picture little Anthony sitting in the class room crying and I wish I could have been there to give him a hug.My best friend in middle school was like that and people were so hard on him.I got in few fights over him and I was a little girl but I didn't care.He is an awesome person and so are you.

My oldest son has severe ADHD. I really appreciate this video! I do my very best as his mother to guide him and help him find coping mechanisms that help him and always looking for new ways to help. We finally got our diagnosis 1 year ago ( start of first grade) and am finally able to get him an IEP for school. It’s a struggle trying to get people to understand that he isn’t just a crazy hype boy he really struggles and it’s just as frustrating for him than it is for others.

Omg, listening to you is like listening to my own story. I also I felt different growing up. I lived in “La La Land”and I struggled academically. Honestly, I don’t know how I graduated. I enjoyed mathematics but I could never memorize multiplication and till this day I can’t memorize them!!!! Engaging in conversations has always been a struggle for me as well. I never enjoyed reading because I couldn’t comprehend the words. I was in my late 30s when I was diagnosed with ADD. When I was put on a very low dose of medication and discovered I was a visual learner my mind awakened!!!! I cried like a baby knowing I wasn’t dumb or stupid. I also have mixed feelings about the medicine but it helps me to stay focused for at least half of the day. Anyways, your story touched my heart and I thank you for sharing your story! 💛

My son is 7 and just diagnosed ADHD hyperactive type and I’ve been watching adult ADHD videos to see what they would have preferred in childhood 🥰 I feel like it’s hindsight talking to me. I’m not getting it right at the moment like I want to but I’m learning each day from amazing videos like yours, thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sure this will help someone. There are some parent's who don't even recognize their child has ADHD, and that saddens me. I can't wait for the "to be continued". Happy day to you and yours. God Bless you.

3:59 it's the same thing with me, Anthony. Sometimes my mom talks to me and I will look at her, but I will just have "spaced out". My mind and attention isn't with her. She gets angry. One time a psychologist tried to hipnotised me, but she couldn't. She said that my mind is way too busy. Thank you so much for telling us your story.

My son is 7 and I now notice this with him, but having watched lots of adult adhd videos and then saying the things they didn’t like in childhood, I now don’t get angry at him, I wait for him to be looking at me and focused before I talk. I really hope this helps him, I hate the idea he grows up thinking I’m angry at him all the time 😔

Oh wow, You just described my youngest daughter who's now 18. She had a horrible time in school so in 3rd grade her psychologist diagnosed her with borderline ADD. We chose not to medicate but man, its been a struggle with her as a mom. This is the first time Ive heard the connection of your memory with ADHD because my daughter has struggled with that too, at school & with basic self care. She really struggles with organizational skills & we've had so many horrible arguments about school & her constantly forgetting to do daily tasks. Thank you so much for this honest & open discussion about what you struggle with. This will change how I approach her forgetfulness because as parents, we worry about her remembering really important safety things. We've gone to bed with her leaving the back door wide open!! My husband & I & our oldest daughter are the complete opposite of her. We are all nerdy intellectual types so her haphazard way of doing things was so frustrating to us. She has struggled with depression too & has always felt inferior to her sister, who is gifted & excelled academically without trying. This will really help us in being more supportive & understanding when she forgets things knowing that its because of her ADD. We forget that she has it because she copes pretty well, if not exceptionally well considering her difficulties with constant distractions & memory.

I am the opposite I hated reading the Bible, very boring for me, but can easily devour entrepreneurial books and a lot of non-fiction books. I’ve got ADD (so no hyperactivity). I lose things too but hooks are very good and clear plastic shoe holders that go over doors. You can put all things you need in them and see them easily.

I have have dyslexia and I had always find it hard to focus and remembering what the teacher say in school and when talking to people. I found it really hard in School because of it and I am not good at read and spelling. And with dyslexia I took longer to learn thing if I manage to learn what teachers was saying. And I think my son has Autism because he has a lot of the sign for it but in Ireland they want diagnose him until he is about 6 or 7 years old and he's 3 and a half now

Wow this is crazy Anthony! I'm just finding out at 35 that this is probably what has been my challenge for my entire life. I wonder if ADHD in parents can be traced to Autism. It seems like it has gotten much worse for me in my 30's. I was seeing that addiction and ADHD are common. Thank God I have avoided everything due to growing up around people that were on drugs and alcohol. I don't want medication and I'm wondering what can help. Obviously you exercise and I know that helps. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for your vulnerability, I’m sure that’s hard... I wonder if there’s a link between having a parent with ADHD and then them having kids on the spectrum. I only say that because when you describe yourself as a child it sounds like the way my son’s father would describe himself, and my son is also on the spectrum. So I wonder if the gene that leads to kids having adhd can also be linked to autism? Food for thought... I think our brains are all wired differently, and it’s very obvious when you have a child with autism. As a society we need to learn to embrace and love those differences because it’s what makes us unique.

I said the same thing in the comments further down. I'm just finding out as a father at age 35 I'm most likely ADHD. I then realized with this video that it might be a connection with Autism in our children. Crazy!
