- In today's video I share with you how I store my metal dies including my metal die organization and catalog using evernote. I watched so many videos before I figured out how I would store my dies, and I searched long and hard for the perfect basket to store the magnetic sheets backed on chipboard in with my metal dies. It also took me a long time to figure out what categories I wanted to have to organize my dies. This process took me a couple of months so I'm hoping this gives you some metal die storage ideas. I also share with you how I catalog all of my dies on my laptop using evernote. This way if i'm ever on a design team I can easily see which dies I have with which brand. Watch to find out more!

Thank you so much for sharing all this! I'm in a similar place so far as not being certain how I want to organize, but my current system is worse than where you started. I have pieces coming off of cardstock I sprayed temp adhesive on. I think the idea was sound, but the cardstock wasn't stiff enough. I do have lots of magnetic sheets, but they are so heavy that Im not sure I want to use them. Might get some of your recommended chip board. It looks awesome & pretty durable. For future ref, it's easier to stick stuff down in place when you tear off a corner of the backing, then line it up, press down the sticky corner to tack it, then peel off the rest of the backing while sliding your hand across the top to stick it down (like for screen protectors or vinyl).
Thanks again! Keep on keeping on!
They sell a brush to roll over the die to get the paper bits out.
I started out making them the way you are but found sticking to cardboard too time consuming since I have so many dies. Now I just put the magnetic sheet in the Avery Elle envelope with card stock behind it or they will stick together. If there’s only one piece to the die they go in the envelope with just the cardboard. It doesn’t need a magnetic sheet. Your organization is very nice but with hundreds of dies you will want something quick.
Mary Naples I probably have around 100 dies now but this organization works for me and I love it ! I love being able to just grab what I need. The cardboard and magnetic sticker sheets didn’t take too long ... the typing up the info and sticking the info on takes some time though and my organization on Evernote. Since I make things and share on Instagram and do UA-cam videos, it all is very helpful for me! I thought about putting those cardboard magnetic things into envelopes but I like the easy access of it now 😁😁
Thank You so much for sharing! I began reorganizing so that I could get more crafting done and I discovered this video and I absolutely love it. I have never been able to access my die cuts so easily! Truly grateful 🙏
Thanks so much for sharing! It takes me so long to find a die because they are not organized. This is such a great ideal, really appreciate it! Hugs from Canada!
I’m working on a similar project right now, but I live in the dusty desert, so I prefer sleeves. I have several smaller stamp and die sets that I plan to assign tags to individual components in Evernote, such as flowers, hearts, stars, critters, sentiments. I like the idea of die cutting all of the pieces for the back. This would be especially helpful for sentiments! Thanks for sharing.
Such a beautiful organization I have to figure out a system for myself with what I already have
Either get the brush to get the paper out (I don’t like it) or my favorite way is use a weeding tool. It’s a tool for circuit or such that’s like a pinpoint piercing point . Just poke thru the holes from the back to pop out the paper
I just watched your video. I see that you recorded this 4 years ago. I am wondering if you are using the same system for your dies. Have you put them in clear envelopes?
Still same system with the ones I did. I have clear envelopes for my new dies that I didn’t add to this system because I don’t use my dies often enough. So the new ones are by theme in a large clear envelope
I found this video extremely helpful, especially how you categorized them. Thank you!
yay thank you so much! I'm glad you found it helpful
Your dies are beautifully organized, and I love your labeling!! I'm going to re-organize my dies your way! I have Evernote and plan to use it to catalog my dies. Thank you! I just subscribed!
use your pokie tool to get out of the die the little pieces or get a brush from tim holtz it comes with a foam piece ya lay your die on it and brush over it super simple
WOW! You are so super organized! Great ideas to use. I don’t know about the computer log, but it seems very handy for making videos. TFS 💜🫶🏽💜
The sticker labeling and the way you organized your dies looks awesome! 💕
Looks awesome thanks for the labeling and dies tip
Can you show us how you made the labels please? Sandy
I'm wondering, too.
Great organization for your dies.
Hello there to get bits of paper out of ur dies is to use a sisex brush or use Little pick tool
Been wanting to do this and put in a binder. But I kinda like the whole way you did it. How did you do the stickers to get prints, and colors with words on them? Thanks for Sharing.Great job
Could you please explain the process you used to make the labels you used. It would be very much appreciated.
Super helpful video ... hadn't thought to colour code by category.
Did you split die sets ie sets that have tags & flowers or flowers & sentiments etc
Like that you note matching stamp sets.
Also found your categories useful
Thanks from Australia 🐨 🐾
A weeding tool will probably get those papers out of your die. Great job organizing!
I think your die storage is awesome
Love your storage for the dies . 😊 Quick ? The basket came in a 3 pack did you use the medium or the large basket? Love your channel , made the bug spray you did and it works great.
I think I used the medium but i'm not 100% sure. My baskets measure 9 3/4 inches by 12 inches :) Hope that helps!
Thank you 😊
Very nice! So neat and tidy.
Your dies are beautifully organized, and I love your labeling!! So neat! I'm going to re-organize my dies your way! Thank you! I just subscribed!
Happy re-organizing! Thank you so much! 💖
LOVE this idea ! Thank you for sharing !! ♥️♥️♥️
Excellent, thank you! 😃
I love how you store your dies!!! 💖
wow.. thansk you so much. this is very helpful
I would include the number of dies in each set, so you know if one goes missing.
Putting the carboard on the adhesive magnet than adhesive on cardboard would help
Hobby lobby has magnet sheets with adhesive backs
Awesom! thank youl, for sharing this.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. 😀💕
Excellent video! Love your storage idea. Also I am very happy that you included the pitfalls as well as the triumphs. Thank you so much
Awesome idea
How did you make or where did you get your labels?
I just made them on the computer!
Wonderful idea. Did you use a Cutting machine with a print and cut option to create the colored labels?
Yes my silhouette cameo to cut and my regular printer to print
@@KarolinasKrafts Do you have a video on how you did that?
@@wendyalexander1397 no I don’t sorry
I love this so much!
Or put 3 hole punch along white side and store in a binder by category
Good job.
Tanto spazio sprecato, forse perché hai poche fustelle, quando aumenteranno cambierai la disposizione, vedrai!!!😅 anche le forme tutte uguali, ma ci sono fustelle anche più grandi... Buon lavoro!!!
Where do you get the color sticker sheets for the labels please? I've searched and can't find any like that--8.5" X .75". Thanks!
I print and cut them myself
Don't glue down the backing, you can just peel the magnet itself off the backing you glued down, it's like hanging the nail from the painting.
Where do you get the colored sticky labels ?
June Richards-Jones I print them!
Also, the dimensions of the white basket....they are no longer available so need to find something similar in size.
If I could I spend a day crafting with u hehehe ☺️
Will it hurt your cutting blade on your Friskars cutter? I just used scissors. So not as fast.
TheBlackdiaful it hasn’t ! I’ve still been doing this
Pokey tool to get paper out of die or brush for that
I'm not crazy abt binders. They r hidden & the bottom right side pulls down. Heavy as well.
Where did you get the colored labels from
I made them on my computer
I don't see the cardboard link and can't find them on Amazon. Can you let me know please
It’s the second link in the description box
If I were you I would put them in ouches, this keeps them dust free
I truly wish this wS all I had for dies......lol
So pretty❤
Just checked, the basket is no longer available. 😢
Very annoying watching a thousand commercials for one video!
FOR THE magnet SHEET ALL YOU NEED IS A STRIP OF THEM NOT THE WHOLE THING it was hold them any ways with out wasting it
That would work if they were on like a cabinet or just hanging up. But because I have them in a bin I need the whole magnet otherwise the dies get press up against the piece that doesn’t have the magnet and they fall off 🤷🏻♀️
Glue the back so you don’t have ugly tape showing
Rofl..."...you can glue it...." oh my...
