I’m in season 3 of this show right now and it has blown me away how good it is. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. John Silver is one of my favorite TV characters ever.
If there is one thing I've learned from watchin Black Sails, it is this: If you ever find yourself serving as a crewman on a pirate ship... Don't fuck the dairy goat!
What recasts besides Dufrene?(og actor got cancer) Also the gay stuff is just fine, especially Anne/Max/Jack which was based on a real thing. Gay people have always existed lol and they did it very well, you'rr just allowing a hyperfocus on politics to ruin your ability to empathize with people. You see "gay people" instead of people who are gay
The fact that a series can combine deep sadness, the story of how a man was ready to burn the world he knew to the ground out of grief, with some of the funniest scenes (at least I have ever seen) is magical

Watched this for a second time and it’s still brilliant, a really great show. And they need to get on with treasure island. The world needs some pirate escapism

I stopped watching this show after Jack puts on a pair of sunglasses. The "fuck tent" was bad enough as was the gratuitous homosexuality but a little historical innacuracy I can tolerate but the sun glasses? This show desperately wanted to be Game of Thrones.
@theprelate4219 LMAO no. Trust me I just finished the series it's definitely not. I can see where you are coming from and felt a little of it but we just aren't used to it. Besides the sex scenes are less frequent later on, especially the the threepeat. I highly recommend you give the show another shot, it has some terrific writing
@@edgaraf9411 Sorry I just don't agree. I have seen it and the characters are too dimensional, the sex is used as filler, and the plot is aimless. It wants to be Game of Thrones but it misunderstands what makes that show work.

Not really a prequel to the book, but a possible story in real history to be the inspiration for the book. If that mad any sense to someone.
