I demonstrate its numerous capabilities and offer some ideas as to why this type of extractor is becoming the 'turn to' design for maker folk. Another fantastic review I’m glad to hear that you can review trend willy-nilly and without bias what a fantastic bit of kit it ticks so many boxes doesn’t it !if I was in the workshop more often I would seriously consider something like this however I’m on site and awful lot and when you turn up with your Festool extractor which all the hoses took away so neatly ,that all the hoses tuck inside all the and you can click your. Systainer on top and use it as impromptu toolbox Unfortunately I do have a little bit of snobary this about it the festool looks good btw I love my Bluetooth connection on my midi top job
Totally agree with everything you say about the Festool pal. For on site folk that system really does come into its own I’d imagine being able to use it as effectively another roll board. For workshop based people this is a great piece of kit and the price point is superb for what it is capable of doing 👍👍😀😀

Good review Leo, I bought a Festool extractor last year, different gravy, I used to buy a lot of Trend products, but over the last 8 or so years they have been aiming at the low end market when they were always a top end brand, I had the T3 router (for 20+ yrs) it packed up bought the T4 (£90 screwfix) I took it back, all plastic and a rigid style, be interesting to see how it lasts in the long run, but the price is very good, for a shop vac check out (either Keith or Badger) get a Cyclone and build a extractor 'shed' to the rear of your workshop, I just used a Henry, worked a treat, but for on site the Festool does what I want it to
Cheers Pistol. Couldn’t agree more with you about the Festool, especially if you’re a site worker as the systainer adaptability etc as well as its performance is superb. If you’re a workshop based guy and keen diy person the Trend is ideal, certainly considering its spec and the value for money is excellent. Can’t comment on its longevity yet, but it is well put together. The switches, latches etc are decent plastics and the internal works like the filter are well made. Will see how it goes👍👍
Spot on mate Trend are a very good brand I only use there worktop jigs and up until recently I would only use there routers t10 or t11 👍
Agreed Gary. Really impressed with this extractor. Dust collection is excellent and then there are the useful add ons like the wet / dry vac. Price wise spot on as well👍👍

Make 2 cyclones for it, and swap em out as required, one for the finer dust and one for the chunky monkey stuff. 😉
It is fantastic value Bill, nothing anywhere near it with that spec and at that price point. James at James’ Mancave spotted there is currently an extra 15% off on the price I said in the video! Will have a think about the cyclone set up once I’m in there with the tools and benches in place 👍😀

HI Leo ive just bought this on your recommendation from Amazon for £145 , ive used it for the first time today and it was Amazing not one single bit of sawdust ,Im sanding some old wood from some racking and it has very fine dust particles everything is normally covered in it But not no more , I cant believe how good it is thanks for the review leo ATB mate

The Mirka looks identical to the Nilfisk I have for sanding, etc. Maybe hook it up to a 30ltr bin under a wee cyclone...? It'll save the filter on the Trend and emptying is a damn sight easier.

Really starting to get a feel for the dimensions of the workshop now pal. I’ve thought about a cyclone setup, but I also like the great portability of the trend as it’s so easy to manoeuvre around. Will have a proper think when I start to put things in place 👍👍
Great review matey and looks a great bit of kit. I would keep it clean and put a cyclone in-line with it . Save on filters and bags.
I was thinking that Paul, but I also love the idea of just easily being able to move at around the workshop (once it’s finished). Will give it more thought once I’ve got a basic workshop layout👍👍

I think it’s whatever is best for you at the time Rob. This has only just come out in the last couple of months. As well as being good, it’s the price point which is the star selling point. From what I was researching there is nothing with that spec that comes even close to it👍

Hi Leo, a very interesting bit of kit, just as I'm in the market for something more substantial for my dust collection. I have just been on to Amazon, and its offering me a 15% discount on check out, knocking off. £31.35 making it £177.65!!!!! 😱😱
Two weeks ago James it was £230 and even at that price I would have said it was good value 👍. Nothing even close to it spec wise at that price and it’s a great bit of kit as well. Don’t know how it’d cope with the likes of the thicknesser, but for the everyday tools it’s spot on 👍👍
Great review Leo and certainly an impressive machine. I wonder if the long and rather small hose would compromise the airflow. I find that using a 3M 50mm hose on my Festool extractor makes a big difference to dust control with the tracksaw. Mike
Cheers Mike. It’s been fine with my track saw tbh, but I do need to get one of those covers from Mr Strawbyte for the side of the saw. The fact it keeping running for a few seconds once you switch the tool off is also very clever as it means any dust within the hose is still being extracted into the bag👍😀
@@Hand-i-Craft HiLeo, the Festool vaccs have a short delay in starting to allow the tool to "run up" ( remember back emf?) ro avoid overloading if both start together and then rus on for a few seconds. The same happens with iVac switch system which you can fit to any vacc which doesn't have the feature. I use it in France ( French version is 16 A whereas UK version is only rated at 13A) with my Axminster dual motor vacc on the Kapex and bigger machines (planer thicknesser and bandsaw) which it handles well with 100mm hose in spite of not being rated with a high enough airflow) I use a small cyclone on the portable vacc and the big Axminster one for the planer and router table which churn out a huge amount of chippings/dust. Good luck with new workshop, I expect it will lead to investment in more kit! Mike

Hi Leo, I've recently found your channel and absolutely love it... very clear and honest opinions. I was wondering how the T33A vac had coped with your router and WRT set-up? I'm thinking of buying one for a similar set up and wonder if it has enough oooomph?! Thank you for taking the time to make your great videos.
Hello Michael, cheers for the message and thank you for your kind words. Tbh I don’t have the T33A hooked up to my WRT. I use the big Axminster dust extractor that I use with my planer thicknesser. Personally I think the High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) extractors work better on the likes of a router table than the T33A which is a High Pressure Low Volume (HPLV). If you only have the one I’m sure it will be ok but you will probably need to buy an adapter to connect it to the WRT.
I use the Trend for all my other workshop tools including tracksaw, sanders, domino etc and it works a treat. Great with the vac attachments as well 👍👍

hi great review of the trend t33 dust vac, I have bought 1, what I cannot fathom is what purpose does the top circular outlet (to r/h side of switch) serve ? there are photos of this in use on the actual box but nothing in the manual . thanx in advance

After seeing you review I wish I saw the trend vacuum before I bought the Festool ctm36 and the chip separator
as that looks like a great vacuum and a a lot cheaper. but I think we will call my disappointment first world issues
You’ve got a great product there pal. Like I said in the video, I own a growing collection of Festool gear and it is fantastic stuff. It is just when I see such a huge price difference on a product that does in effect the same job really well then I was so impressed with the Trend. Obviously it doesn’t have the systainer connection abilities etc, but if you’re not on site and based in a workshop it is an incredible piece of kit for the price 👍👍
Good review, good machine. You may have been better using a black cloth rather than a white one, it would make it easier to see the dust. As a matter of interest I use a DeWalt 125mm sander with just the collection bag as supplied and I see very little dust escaping if I use the Abranet disks.
Cheers CP. abranet are great for the dust collection, I just find them a little ‘brittle’ in that anything apart from sheet goods and they tend to rip a little too easily.

After watching your review I was very impressed with the T33a. But looking at the specs, it only has a 1500w limit on the power take off so is lacking a bit for me there. Maybe the T35??🤔
Good point Jon, but just out of interest what would you be running through it? I’ve used it for my TS-55 tracksaw, sander, bandsaw and Domino and not found it underpowered at all. It has coped fine with them. As I said in my video I think my plan will be to have a larger chip extractor type unit to deal with the bigger tools and this for the hand power tools if that makes sense?

This might be a stupid question, but can I use this to pick up heavier items, like screws and nails on the floor, or small bits of rubbles, etc?
You’d have to put some kind of mesh on the end to stop it disappearing into collection bag, but technically ‘yes’ I suppose.
You must have been confident to do 15 minutes of Sanding with no mask Leo 😯🤔😂
I’m usually sanding outside with my mask on Andy so yes you could say I was feeling confident 😂😂👍👍
What is the highest power tool take off for this the T 33A in a 110v version?
I think it’s 1000W on the 110v Kevin, but I’m not 100% sure so worth checking 👍

Bit late to the party here. We just got given these by work. Seems like a good enough bit of kit. But can someone tell me what the outlet on the top is for? On the actual motor part there is an outlet which looks like a hose would go in and it has a sprung plug inside which pushes in to the machine and allows air to vent out when the motor is running? Feels like it might take a fitting to use as a blower? But the hose that comes with it doesn't fit. I just need to know!!!😅

Yes, pretty sure (but check with the manufacturer) M class would be fine for that 👍

Problem with this is if the power surges and the tool plug in shorts there is no circuit breaker reset or accessible fuse. I had my plunge saw blade pinch and it shorted out and is now in the shop for repairs. Other than this flaw it is a really good machine but I can't understand why they wouldn't put a breaker like every other machine that has this feature. I've only owned it for two weeks as well so it's bound to happen again.

@@Hand-i-Craft that's good to hear, mine lasted 12 days before that happened but I guess it depends what tools you plug in. Having said that if they put a simple resettable fuse or breaker like a lot of other machines I would be more than happy with it as everything else works fine, if they did this I'd still be using it. Total tools have offered to give me my money back as it's not up to standard for what I need.

My real life opinion is that this vac is awful!
Has good suction and a nice long hose. That’s about it. 2nd day of ownership it fell over in the van, both front wheels snapped off and a black bit on the top broke away. 3 months later it burnt out and nearly set on fire. I took it back for a refund. Just isn’t tough enough for it’s purpose

Made out of the cheapest plastic possible .... the front castors fell off within the first week one castor fell off the hoover attachment after 3 weeks ....... absolutly extortionate price for bags .... as for extraction stick a router on there and see how it fairs cut close to the edge with the plunge saw it let's itself down massively its about good for hoovering the workshop floor pretty much nothing else
Sorry to hear about your experiences Harry. Had mine well over a year now and not had any issues with the castors etc. Don’t quite get your other points though, I’ve also got a Mirka extractor and that can’t cope with plunge saw cuts near the edge, the only way to properly improve that would be to cover the gap on the side of the saw with tape or a 3D printed accessory. The bags are around £4 each and I reuse them, just awkward emptying, but they are well made and last. In regards to a router, this is a HPLV extractor and a router really needs a LPHV extractor to work effectively. I’m sorry you aren’t happy with it but I still maintain for the price it is the best value on the market. There are better extractors of course, but you’re paying a lot more money for them
@@Hand-i-Craft if I could put pictures up I would you'd think it was made out of toffee both front castors are off the hoover was blocked I unblocked it only to realise one of the wheels on the hoover head had dropped off again bad plastic ..... I used to like trend gear but the quality is slipping quite quickly its no better than a titan from screw fix to be fair only not as robust imo guess there like marmite
Sorry but the dust test is ridiculous. Its not what falls on the sheet that matters its the spores that get into the air that matters.
Totally take your point and in further videos I talk about that in regards to particles in the air and what type of particles are the most damaging. What I can’t do is demonstrate that in a workshop as it is not a controlled environment. Appreciate what you say though and take it on board for the future 👍👍
Sorry absolutely disagree. I have lots of trend products but this is very disappointing it will do nothing positive for Trends image. It has gimmicks like the power take off and a long vacuum tube but it is like wrestling with a small python and the cheap plastic tube awkward to use when attached to a sander or palm router. The actual dust volume is poor most of the space is taken up by the motor and filter. The vacuum is made of a brittle plastic, a wheel snapped off after a few days. I tried to use it on my trend router table but the suction was insufficient. It has been running for a few weeks just to clean floors and has now actually stopped working. Going to look for my money back. Going to get a Henry.

I agree, the hose is stupidly long. Also the tools that come with it don't fit the nozzle on the hose cuff because the the diameter is 38mm and the tools are 35mm. Therefore you have to use the adaptor for this to work with its own tools. 0 out of 10 for that piece of stupidity. It also means that it doesnt work with other 35mm standard fittings.
Also a cheap wickes wet and dry vacuum has a better air flow rate and better suction pressure.
Also after a year of minimal use the low suction warning alarm no longer works.
The T33a replaced my T30 which lasted about 10 years. When my T30 motor blew out ,despite changing the brushes, no replacement was available. I bought the T33a as a replacement, construction wise what a cheap piece of shit. Two separate breakage point around the wheel base, the large red wheel snapped at the axle and the small black wheel broke at the base insert point. Do not buy this for site work. Cheaper units from other manufacturers will give you better service. No complaints about the ability to clean but the plastic fabrication is pathetic. These breakages were within 6 months of light use. The T30 is just missing a motor, I'm tempted to disassemble the 33a and see if I can adapt the motor to fit the T30. Not a happy chappy, this unit is probably ok for a workshop where it's not being moved but for mobile use find something else.
I can only comment on my use of it in the workshop Martin and it has been great for me in that context. Sorry to hear about your experiences, have you spoken to Trend about it? Their customer service is very good 👍
@@Hand-i-Craft The replacement parts are available only out of stock, of course why wouldn't they be. I can rebuild the plastic with epoxy I think. Coming up to retirement now I may construct an indestructible base with a bit of router work. Please be aware that I did say in my post that the t33a is probably ok in a static workshop environment but in no way shape or form does it measure up to site work like my t30 did. No abuse room the t33a.
