Maybe too risky ?! They have to remake the original tape formula (which is not the replacement one available on the market). Maintenance : felt, heads etc. I have 2 tape echoes 201.
This is a good effect pedal. I love the sound of the original (both the pedal and the integrated effects in the Jazz Chorus amp), and I was thinking of getting a chorus like this for my mono output synths as well as for my guitars. I see a lot of comments under here that are asking you for a Space Echo remodel. If you can make a Space Echo without the tape always getting stuck and/or ripping, then you have my money right there. But I'd like to see you Behringer guys doing more original stuff as well. Yes, your remodels of older gear are very good indeed, but I miss some original creations from you.
The best thing about the original CE-1 was the use of two different LFO shapes for chorus and vibrato. The vibrato is modulated by a roughly sinusoidal waveform, while the chorus setting uses the tried and true triangle waveform. Makes a difference.
@@MALSIDIOUSno need to knock mac demarco, for me at least, he introduced a lot of older music and got me into half the bands I like now (especially cocteau twins though they're vastly different)
I love the sound of the JC-120, and wasn't exactly sure how to get it on a budget. I am soooo buying this! (but why is the one switch inside and not on the back or something? minor mod incoming. lol) Can't wait to hear how it sounds on things other than a tele.
Behringer: PLEASE rerelease the VB-2. I know the UV does it - and sounds good... but we need one in a robust enclosure. The VB-2W doesn't nail it like the UV-200. I read that Behringer makes the right chip. No one else gets it right AND has the rise function for that beautiful bloom. Come on Behringer - we're counting on you! :)
Remember that Boss already has the CE-2w with CE-1 mode (although without the preamp part of the original circuit). PastFX also makes a few different versions of the CE-1 circuit, they all sound really good, even their cheaper versions. They also make a very compact model that still sounds dead on. I'm not criticizing the Behringer version, it may be cheaper and have some advantages, but there are plenty of alternatives out there for CE-1 seekers.
Going to the Boss route will cost you EUR400 if you want to have the preamp too. The PB-1W has a CE-1 mode, so theoretically chaining it with a CE-2w is as close as you can get to an og CE-1. Other alternatives such as the PastFX and JFX pedals (when in stock) are over 200EUR without shipping, remember pastFX pedals come from Australia. So depending on where you are in the world, this Behringer release is such a deal breaker considering it'll be readily available through distributors and with a price that makes sense for who just wants to experiment with such a classic pedal.
You can also get the CE-1 from the Boss CE-2w along with the new CE-2 and another Waza modification with a 3 switch selector. I guess the hype of this pedal is the price? That is a banger price.
Warm Audio C1 also gives rate _and_ depth control for the chorus, but I think you're not able to bypass the preamp. I could be mistaken on that fact though. Anyone reads this and knows different, please speak up!
Anyone here watching this, thinking perhaps getting this would be better than getting the Boss BP-1w... ...which is based on the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble (providing a bright, bell-like tone) and the RE-201 Space Echo (offering a warmer, fatter preamp sound). Only thing is you'll just get the former of the preamp sounds and not the latter ofc. Depends on which of the two preamps you'd prefer the sound of. Does this have the original preamp is all I'm really asking?!
I have the original Ce-1, It is dates 1978. I have always used it on bass but I would like to retire it. It is bulky needs 110 volts and I always need to keep an eye on it because it is a very desirable unit for those eyeballing it onstage. I will have to check this Beringer unit out.
Oh, if only this was in a more compact form factor, I'd buy it today 🥺 I do understand why they've made it this way, it's just I unfortunately have quite limited space (my pedals are on 2 pull out drawers in a 19" rack unit, rather than a pedalboard, so my available space is finite).
What I wanna know is can this thing fuzz like the original! If you really turn the preamp up to its maximum, will you get the same heavy distortion the OG is capable of? Regardless, this is awesome!
I feel like they should do stereo in on any pedal that can be used with synths. It can't be that much more in parts and would sell so many more of them.
Thank you very much for this Behringer. I can now have a Frusciante type Chorus pedal!
As Adrian Belew (notable Jazz Chorus user) would shout at the end of King Crimson's Indiscipline: I like it!!!
do a behringer space echo

Great shirt!
Great, another pedal I need.
I'm legitimately impressed. Very nice!
Behringer releasing the classics, i like that.
Another great release! I hope an Electric Mistress is in the pipeline.
Why not buy a real one from EHX?
we def need an echoflanger/polychorus reissue
The ehx walking on the moon flanger is a good electric mistress

why hide the bypass switch under a panel ?
Drill a hole for access
Kinda like Fender hiding a second tone adjuster inside their fuzz pedal
New generation pedals are avoiding this solution: they have all hidden functions accessible by software (via usb)
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this since it was leaked years ago.

In the 70's and early 80's I used a CE-1 on my Wurlitzer piano. Used to sound immense in stereo. Wonder if this can be used with keyboard instruments.

Andy Summers here we come!
Sounds a lot like Summers, but he actually used a Flanger, the Electric Mistress.
Can these types of pedals take line level instruments?
For this one - since it's not mentioned anywhere - I assume not. The warm audio one does, though, if I remember correctly.
How does this compare to your smaller -- and much less expensive -- Ultra Chorus pedal?
Does this mean that we’re going to see a BC-120 amp?! Also, why not have the band use your Bugera amps?
