    Orion's were awesome. I worked with the designer of the black amps at Eclipse. At Good Guys we put together a ton of systems with the red amps and subs before this series. They were always unreal sounding. Those were fun times.

    This is the coolest video I've seen in a while.
    Competed against a few HCCA owners back in the '99 dBdrag season in Extreme 1-2 with Kove Armageddons. Looked like virtually the same subwoofers and performed nearly identically. This was a great trip down memory lane, thank you!

    Thanks for such an interesting video, just a question have you ever encountered a vintage speaker from the 1930s known as the Goodmans twin cone 12 inch 15 watt, 15 ohm one and a half inch voice coil bass response loud speaker my dad had one installed in a large cabinet that was lined on the inside with underfelt and it was connected with two chassis one a pre amplifier and the other for radio use and connected to a record changer, both the chassis were of the glass vacuum tube variety, but boy that speaker was so gutsy in its bass response and overall sound. Until one day my brother foolishly the loudspeaker to the wrong output of the amplifier and blew the crap out of the speaker and of course all the copper wire on the voice coil untravelled as it was acting as a fuse, a big loud " bang" and a cloud of dust. I was just wondering if you have ever re- coned one of these?.

    I would like to see the new thiele small parameters. Maybe do a build increasing RMS and lowering Fs if possible...

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 років тому

      That would require breaking it in and further testing. Increasing power rating would come in either thermal or mechanical. Thermal won't happen without changing the basket as the coil is already a 500 degree coil (I'm assuming the original was too, may or may not be) and mechanical would just be a tighter suspension which would raise Fs. You could add mass to lower the Fs back but then you're making it less efficient and raising the Qts.

    Can some help. Would this single 1200rms sub sound as hard and loud as two 10" Alpine Type S? Alpines are in a sound ordinance ported box from crutchfield

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 років тому

      There are way too many factors to predict that. Additionally, this sub hasn't been sold for about 17 years and how it is now isn't exactly how it came from the factory, it's a little better.

    I didn't see many recone kits on the site. I saw 2 but no images. I have this same speaker. Unfortunately someone reconed it incorrectly. He didn't use a threaded spider and now the wires slap. tomorrow morning what cone and voice coil do I need to get for the specific sub

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  4 роки тому

      We don't sell recones for random stuff, only our own. The ones we have listed on the website are already made. Other recones are built to order. The parts used for things like this aren't always stock parts, we have to special order them and don't keep an inventory of what parts were used.

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 років тому

      "quality" is vague and I'm not so sure you meant what it says. Correct me if I'm wrong but did you really mean what is comparable in sound and performance?

    • @milanraseta8098
      @milanraseta8098 5 років тому

      lol... Yes, I have been out of the game for a long time, I second guess what was to what is now... They always say not built as it was years ago... And what would you consider a subwoofer now a days to that stroker. I know its sad that I ask, just technology has changed maybe the process of woofer making too... lol... I'm an old school guy, just whats on market now for pricing is crazy cheap. Amplifiers, decks so on... Just lay into me.. I can take it!!!

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 років тому

      @@milanraseta8098 The Stroker was based on a PA design, and that's where you'd find something like that now. There isn't anything designed that way in car audio, for obvious reasons. I have the HCCA152 I hate it noticed screws rattling in the surround ring went to tighten them all stripped out magnet split on me first winter voice coil locked up because it shifted and after spending almost $500 on the sub they wanted me to pay shipping to a service center where it probably would have been denied repair..

    • @EMFAudio

      Paying shipping for a warranty claim is normal for literally any product in any industry. I do agree it would probably be denied for repair under warranty, or maybe even at all.

Not sure why it happens maybe small air pockets in the magnet?? But never happened on any other subs I've had mostly 12s. 90 minutes I feel good about it not being able to be moved but I wouldn't put it under pressure like in a box for several hours. The tube itself says 8 hours I think to be fully cured.
