As much of a Yan hater I am (just always thought he was overhyped and overrated) watching it again I will say I can see why people thought Yan won the fight. I think it was close and Sean won the 1st round but you can definitely give 2 & 3 to Yan but 2 seemed a bit closer so I guess you can argue it for Sean. That’s what I saw anyways. I will say Yan barely seemed to do any damage to Sean once he got him down on the ground though. Sean did a good job at defending and getting back to his feet.

All night, when something big happened during the fights on the main card, like when Weidman landed on Tavares and he actually dropped him, I was yelling at my TV. When Lemos had that choke in on Zhang the first time, I was standing up yelling. Then when Zhang dropped Lemos in the 5th I was yelling again. When Sean TKO’d Aljo, I just had my jaw dropped and I was silent. It was that beautiful and that shocking. I picked Aljo to win via decision and as soon as he dropped I knew the fight was over.

(People discount Seans skills due to his opponents but in reality its impressive if anyone can perform how O'malley did. That's what people don't understand.) He can strike around high guards. He understands how to put velocity/power on his shots. Even when moving backwards and he has a great approach to how he abstractly flows with how a fight unfolds. He's shown he can make really good reads in the moment. There is so many great bantamweight fights to make. I can't wait to watch and enjoy all these battle's of insane talent that this division has. It's going to be awesome. O'malley vs Cory/Henry/Aljo 2/Petr Yan 2/Rob Font, etc. Sean just had to take a longer break than he wanted so Henry could get his chance against Aljo. Besides that O'malley has said he doesn't want to waste his prime years. He usually fights 2-3 a year. Once people get to the top of the rankings it's harder to get fights arranged. As much of a Yan hater I am (just always thought he was overhyped and overrated) watching it again I will say I can see why people thought Yan won the fight. I think it was close and Sean won the 1st round but you can definitely give 2 & 3 to Yan but 2 seemed a bit closer so I guess you can argue it for Sean. That’s what I saw anyways. I will say Yan barely seemed to do any damage to Sean once he got him down on the ground though. Sean did a good job at defending and getting back to his feet.

All night, when something big happened during the fights on the main card, like when Weidman landed on Tavares and he actually dropped him, I was yelling at my TV. When Lemos had that choke in on Zhang the first time, I was standing up yelling. Then when Zhang dropped Lemos in the 5th I was yelling again. When Sean TKO’d Aljo, I just had my jaw dropped and I was silent. It was that beautiful and that shocking. I picked Aljo to win via decision and as soon as he dropped I knew the fight was over.
Yeah that’s the beauty of watching fights live. I always say there’s nothing like watching a UFC PPV card live. I’ve legit felt like I had outer body experiences lol I remember when Alexa Grasso beat Valentina I was losing my mind I could not sit down (I’ve been a fan of Alexa for years and believe it or not, picked her to finish Val) it was crazy. When Leon knocked out Usman I was oddly calm, it literally felt unreal like a joke or something.
Aljo does not get enough credit for his run. He went through hell with neck injuries, MAJOR surgery after 1st Yan fight, and is tough as nails.
Ian Garry is walking a fine line between being a really marketable talented welterweight.. to being an arrogant unlikable character IMO

If Sean actually wants to fight in December only Chito makes sense being Corey is out for 8 months from surgery and Merab is still working back from a surgery and don’t see him being able to come back by December. Can’t see Cejudo getting a shot again after just losing to Aljo. I also don’t see Aljo wanting to fight again in 3 months after just doing so.
Merab will be ready but hundred percent ufc gonna give him Chito. Way better match up for their cash cow. Would love to see the press conference with Merab wearing his jacket tho.
Merab, Cory and Cejudo are all injured so the only one in that top part of the 135 rankings that isn't injured is Vera. Added to the mix that he beat Omalley already so it has a storyline.

Can't wait to see O'malley vs Cory/Henry/etc. But people are healing from injuries/ surgeries. So the chito rematch makes sense since Sean wants to be active.
A lot of people underestimate O'Malley but I feel like his striking skills, fight I.Q., movement, feints, switch stances, break timing, strike diversity, is some of the best there is. He proved his striking output cardio endurance in that record setting output against Green haired Kris Mutino. (People discount Seans skills due to his opponents but in reality its impressive if anyone can perform how O'malley did. That's what people don't understand.) He can strike around high guards. He understands how to put velocity/power on his shots. Even when moving backwards and he has a great approach to how he abstractly flows with how a fight unfolds. He's shown he can make really good reads in the moment. There is so many great bantamweight fights to make. I can't wait to watch and enjoy all these battle's of insane talent that this division has. It's going to be awesome. O'malley vs Cory/Henry/Aljo 2/Petr Yan 2/Rob Font, etc. Sean just had to take a longer break than he wanted so Henry could get his chance against Aljo. Besides that O'malley has said he doesn't want to waste his prime years. He usually fights 2-3 a year. Once people get to the top of the rankings it's harder to get fights arranged. It's a issue all over the UFC. (Look what happened to stall Khamzat Chimaev's career?) *So we will have all these great bantamweight fights but so many people are injured or healing, unable to compete. Thing's will happen. Activity is better than those people who fight maybe once a year.. let's not fall into that trap.

That’s why Hawaiians are upset… they sent the kids home, no parents at home and didn’t sound the emergency alarm for the city as the fire grew and so now parents have their kids at home not knowing how bad the fires were and can’t get to there kids.
