    As someone who's lived in New York City for almost 11 years, this is particularly fascinating to watch. Between '73 and '22, lots of things have changed (the make of the cars, the skyline, etc.), but so many other things haven't changed a bit (JFK, FDR Drive, Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, South Ferry, Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, Downtown, etc.).
    Very glad that they took that extra step and actually filmed on location!

    This is the first Bond film I ever saw, probably at the age of 11 - I instantly loved it and soon after began insisting on wearing suit jackets when I'd go to school.
    Even though I have read the novels and they're much better than the adaptions for the big screen, to this day Roger Moore remains one of my favourite Bonds, and the colourful "Live and Let Die" remains one of my favourite Bond films.

      It's hard to go wrong with Paul McCartney on the theme song and George "the 5th Beatle" Martin on the rest. Though at the time the moviemakers did consider it a risk, as it marked a departure from the usual John Barry scores they used.

    • @Hibernicus1968
      @Hibernicus1968 2 роки тому +8

      I can't agree about the best dressed. True, his clothes were of the finest tailoring, but he's brought down by the fact that his Bond was during the era of those absolutely horrible 1970s fashion trends. Bell bottom trousers, lapels all the way out to the shoulder, and ties wide enough to serve as a bib. Connery, in the early sixties, had the sharpest looking suits, of equally fine make.

    • @cellpat2686
      @cellpat2686 Рік тому

      If you watch Pierce Brosnan as 007 you can see he picked up a bit of the Roger Moore elegant sense of humour and his dressing was far better. Also Timothy Dalton copied some of Roger's character.

    • @fletcherhamilton3177
      @fletcherhamilton3177 3 роки тому +47

      Moore never had that ‘thug hiding under a veneer of sophistication’ mien that Connery, Lazenby and Craig had / have, but he more than makes up for it with a compellingly debonair and dry performance which, in all fairness, _does_ lend itself to a little humour rather well, though I agree - best not to overdo it.

    • @michaeljames4904

      @@fletcherhamilton3177 The famous hellraiser Lee Marvin once goaded Moore into a fistfight on a movie they did together, in Africa… the South London policeman’s son kicked the USMC veteran’s ass, leading Marvin to later remark, “That guy’s made of iron.”
      This is the only Bond flick where we see a glimpse of that promise: in Sir Roger’s later efforts 007 becomes almost buffoonish; they’re still great entertainment though.

Amazing. Nobody can compare this 007 movies with him to the New movies with Daniel Craig, He is not a real Bond, He is an Action movie actor, like the New Bond movies with him, who are not Bond movies, they are just Action Films with confused stories. British companies didn’t really understand product placement to their detriment. “Wait, you want us to lend you something? For FREE?!”
      That’s why The saint ended up in a Volvo, Jaguar refused to lend them an E type. BMC wouldn’t supply minis for the Italian job either, the film company had to buy them.

    According to my research, this metallic sound at 2:52 was recorded in 1982. This movie was filmed around 1972.
