This is so accurate. You know the SNL cast members WERE those kids.
That's why they were cast on SNL. Some of them were probably voted most likely to be on SNL (like Bowen Yang. He's not on this sketch, but that is true about him).

It is interesting however, that this sketch evolves from the students (although cringy and out of their depth) raising issues that are of genuine concern. Then as the sketch evolve, they have totally lost it done the woke crazy train.

And I think that also means Kate has to be Leslie's stepdaughter, since she's the only other girl who's in every sketch.

I'm sad to say that i was once part of a group that did this. I tried to stop then from being cringy but it didn't work. We made a 15 minute skit about unrealistic beauty standards and puppets in a factory with like a 3 minute rap/poem thing to start it off where we all said a line as we walked on stage (even when i was doing it i couldn't have told you the plot) the directors took us to a mural and said that our skit had to be based off of it. I still cringe thinking about it too this day.

We had to use those boxes in To Kill a Mockingbird, including the courtroom! You can just imagine an 18 year old trying to question Mr. Ewell under those circumstances, it was beyond laughable!

We actually did a student-written piece not too far from this (different topic in 1992) in high school and I remember how brilliant everyone thought it was and how badly everyone wanted to be cast! It's so hilarious looking back through this lens more than 20 years later, lolololol. Poor parents.

Took acting classes at an art school for a few years, my teacher ALWAYS picked out what we were to perform, whether or not it was going to be performed before an audience. But I definitely felt somewhat of this vibe (or a variant like it) from some of the dance performances.

okay but the dramas in my school were actually good, we had one about Tourettes awareness and the acting was immaculate, we had one about injustices of caste, and about corruption in court.

Oh my god, this reminds me so much of high school. I do remember being a teenager, and thinking I was so fucking wise and knew EVERYTHING and the whole world was just BLIND and they were all THE SAME! The older I got, the more I realise I don't know anything, and I just cringe at me at 15 thinking I had everything figured out.
This would get an award if it were produced downtown at my local amateur theater.
