about sally, the way sally died... she was accused of witch craft and dismembered and in the after life the dr then sewed her back together.. which might explain the visions..
The narrator was revealed to be Santa, it was told in the deleted epilogue as the narrator visited halloween town AGAIN. However i do believe the whole higher entity thing. I also think that Sally was a witch b4 she died (since dismemberment was a common sentence for witches) so it would make sense the "entity" would contact Sally as she would be more intune with magics and the likes, especially if she was a seer. btw jack and sally had 4 to 5 skeleton kids who play in a xylophone band. Edit: Go read Long Live the Pumpkin Queen
I agree it's either the narrator or another all-powerful entity that wanted Jack to see the error of his ways and turn back to Halloween town. Like the saying goes 'Those who don't hear must feel.' Jack refused to look inward at his issues and only blamed his surroundings. Through being sucked into Christmas town and making his mistakes. Jack learned that his emptiness was a lack of love. I think the vision was sent to prompt Sally into further action and give insight to the potential ruin.
I agree because in ever after high the narrator can do Stuff to the people in the story talk to the characters or touch tings ( ever after high ways too wonderland show what I meen ) so Mabe the narrator don’t like what will happen to jack so he try to help hem using sally
Amanda Pike Might be, but even with it, it could still be a thing made from him, at the end of the movie we see the grate powers of Santa, even more powerful than Jack's. Maybe Santa it's the non-oficial boss of all the holidays, because Christmas is celebrate in a bigger part of the world than the other ones and he needs to watch for the best of all the holidays and the world itself, so when he saw what Jack need he tries to give it to him, maybe without imagine what would happen until it was too late so he send the vision to Sally, the one that was the real thing that Jack needs
Jack didn't want to make Christmas his own. He wanted to experience Christmas. He was giving Santa the year off, not trying to get rid of him to take the holiday for himself.
I still think that his mistake wasn't wanting to experience Christmas, it was believing that he can make Christmas better than it already was. Instead of sitting back and absorbing the lessons that Christmas could teach him, he automatically jumps to ways to put his own stamp on it. And then he wants to rule it. Why am I reminded of all of history ever?
Here's what I think: The narrator is like some kind of a guardian of the holidays. He sees what is going on in all holidays. Everything that happened in the movie leads Jack to recognition of who he is. He chose which door to go through, and then things went down hill to begin with when Jack couldn't explain Christmas to everyone. Sally's vision was the obvious warning that things would end terribly if someone didn't do something. That someone was Sally all along. And she really was the only one who was able to attempt to save Santa while Jack was gone. And then of course we all know that Jack showed up and that was probably one of the shortest 'Villain vs. Hero' scenes in a Disney movie I have ever seen.😆😆😆 Edit: Think of it kinda like the Moon in Rise of The Guardians. Santa, Tooth Fairy, Sand man, Easter Bunny, and Jack Frost look to the moon for what to do. The moon is what protects them, and in turn they protect the children. The narrator and leader of each Holiday is kinds like that. The narrator protects the Holidays, and in return (without knowing that) the leaders of each holiday make their holiday better and share it with the world.
Well, in an idea for a Nightmare TV show, Jack ends up breaking a promise that he made to Dr. Finklestein, and because he swore on the Holiday Door of Halloween, the Holiday Guardian (AKA the Narrator) descends upon Jack and threatens to erase him from existence, unless he answers a riddle, and, because the riddle Jack is made to answer is 'What is 2+2?', Jack is easily able to solve it (even saying "It's four, everybody knows that") he is able to save himself
The childrens novelization (not the poem storybook or popup book) but the novelization, which quotes the soundtrack narration, it's revealed that the narrator is Santa.
Amanda Pike but that's the novelization, not the original works. It's a derivative works that stands on its own so whether it is canon is yet to be seen.
I think Sally's premonition came from within, kind of like a conscience. Since she's animated and has feelings, curiosities, and the desire for more, I think that it is reasonable for her to fear the worst. Especially when it directly involves the person she loves who had recently been depressed. She can relate to that need of something more or different and has already acted recklessly on multiple occasions to gain any freedom. She just wants him safe. When it comes to the premonition, haven't you ever seen something that you just know is going to turn out bad? Jack is delving into the unknown and with the way that he described Christmas, anyone could see that they weren't doing it right (and we're super rushed to only get it going in 35 days). But that was all the people of Halloween knew. Sally is recently created so she has a different perspective, a more innocent one since the 'good' doctor is intent on making her a shut-in. I think that is why she was able to get the premonition. Now, I think the flower turning into a combustible tree was definitely movie magic to explain the premonition or show what was going on in her mind's eye since the fire was close to her hand but didn't burn her. By the way, Happy Halloween~ I love this movie.

Dear watso, I've been watching the nightmare before Christmas alot recently, and I just had a realization/a theory. Watch the movie again and pay close attention to zero. What if zero was the narrator/ godlike being for specifically Halloween town. He was there and heard when jack sang about his empty spot, he basically led jack to the doors, he seemed to have a good understanding of every thing going on, he's actually the last character we see in the entire movie. Not jack and sally, but zero. I would like you to look into this theory and give me credit pls. 😊
Also, in the song while jack is singing about him obsession with Christmas, zero brings him a picture of him as the pumpkin king almost as if he's trying to convince him to go back to his old self. And during poor old jack he seems to celebrating when jack gets exited about being the pumpkin king again and to bring flare back to Halloween.
This does make a lot of sense since no one in Halloween Town is capable of foreseeing the future. But her song makes me think otherwise. But then again I could just be grasping straws.
3:27 Jack on SEVERAL occasions tried to make it jolly in the movie - what you just said goes against everything jack stood for - the problem wasn't jack trying to make christmas holloween - the problem was that he was doing the best with what he had - but what he had wasn't nearly enough...
I think it came from the elves of Christmas town the little eld knew he was there so they tried to send jack the message but it got to Sally instead. That explains why Santa didn't know he discovered about him. Also why did Santa know him?
I honestly thought you were going to say it was the tree itself that granted that vision as a warning, since the entrance to the holiday towns are trees, and they are in several culture viewed as omnicounscious enteties that provide a specific function to the land they occupy. (eg. Tree of life - baobab tree- Africa savanna)
Zero could simply be taking a dirt nap. Remember nothing in Halloween town totally passes way. The residents are not quite alive and they are not quite dead.
Wotso, I showed your jack skelington theory video to my film theory class (cuz we were covering burton theory) and despite most of they're rude comments on your appearance, they had some really good points opposing your theory.
Did you also know that the reflection scene was pretty hard to make it had to take hours to get it correct it had to this background had to be perfect and the camera can be in sight that's because the camera was hidden inside of Jack that's how they did it
I like your take on it with the narrator. We know from the epilogue that the narrator is an actual character or entity in the Nightmare Before Christmas universe and not just a framing device for the story. Since the narrator starts out by asking where you think holidays in general come from, I personally believe that the narrator is someone who oversees all the holidays, not just Halloween, and I really like the idea that the narrator tried to help Jack by giving him what he wanted, only to realize his mistake and try to warn Sally, since she was the only one opposed to the Christmas idea. Here's an idea too; maybe the narrator originally wanted Jack to meet Santa Claus, or any of the other Holiday kings, so Jack could have a confidant, someone he could talk to about his feelings of burning out, and the other Holiday king could relate and give advice. I think that would add a layer to the ending where Jack then finds companionship in Sally.
I always thought it was implied the narrator was implied to be Santa. they're the same voice actors, and the end soundbite you plaid is DEFINITELY impled to be Santa himself. which isextra evidence that magic was at work all on it's own.
It might be Zero. Think about it, every time Jack talked about his skills Zero was all happy. In the song were Jack realized who he was and who he is Zero did a flip. I know he helped Jack with the fog but there are many things that point to Zero giving the vision. He is a ghost with aglowing nose!😜
I know this is almost a year late. But this video was in my recommended so, I'm commenting. (also, if you havn't already noticed, it's a little long) I do think it was that higher entity you mentioned. However, I don't think that it made a mistake by pulling Jack into Christmas. It wasn't giving Jack what he wanted over what he needed. It was giving him exactly what he needed. (side note, I believe the entity is Zero as well which I will briefly go over at the end) Let me explain. Jack is looked up to as the Pumpkin King. As you stated, no one else in Halloween town can function without Jack. And with Jack becoming board with Halloween, the entity needed to do something. Again, you brought it up nicely, that it showed Jack the doors and pulled him into Christmas, but it wasn't for inspiration. It was to show Jack that everything he needs has been right in front of him the whole time. But Jack is stubborn and doesn't listen to anyone but himself. So the entity needed Jack to see the error of his ways himself. Now how does that work out? Well, there was someone else in that graveyard experiencing a crisis on their own during Jack's Lament. Sally. She connected with Jack and even developed a crush on him. But she was too shy to say anything. She was the perfect device to help Jack on his way back to Halloween. Now if you remember correctly, her vision happens BEFORE Jack has his epiphany. She gives him the gift basket, has her vision, then he sings his song which leads him to his decision. She then was worried when he called out the window that they will be doing Christmas that year. I agree completely that the vision was about hallowing becoming Christmas and going down in flames. (Halloween plant turns to Christmas tree and burns) She tries to stop Jack but is still so shy to do more than talk to him. Which inevitably fails due to his aforementioned stubbornness. It's around here that Jack gets his hands on Santa, and stows him away. The entity knew that this would happen, that Jack would use the Boggy Boys, and that they would take Santa to Oggy Boggy. Meanwhile, Sally tries another indirect approach, the fog. Which works temporarily, but Jack manages to continue his plans and takes off for his delivery. Sally is left with no choice, but to find the Kidnapped Santa to see if he can fix things. Which leads her right into OggyBoggy's clutches. Meanwhile, Jack enjoys his Christmas run but is shot down, by the human military. He doesn't understand what he did differently from Santa. And through his song, he comes to understand that his THING is Halloween and that he probably ruined Christmas, so he tries to fix it by getting Santa. Which leads to the fight with Oggy, which leads to him finding Sally captured as well, which ultimately leads to them getting together. Which is what the entity wanted all along. A distraction. Something new that Jack could focus on while also getting his motivation back for Halloween. Now, why did I say Zero is the entity. Well, he's always there during important moments that drive the plot forward. Zero was there when Jack sang his song about being bored (he also sees Sally in the graveyard) He was there when Jack was pulled into the door. He was there when Sally gave Jack his gift (albeit sleeping) (here's the big one) He was literally the one who gave Jack the idea to become Santa. He was also the one who reassured Jack that fog was no issue, by using his nose. (remember, Christmas would still be ruined if Jack didn't fly. Santa would have been killed, and Jack would have just tried again next year) Zero was absolutely excited when Jack decides that he's going back to just Halloween stuff. And finally, he flies off into the moon when Jack and Sally kiss for the first time, on the exact same spot Jack sang his Lament. He strongly fits the profile. Tell me what you think. I know it's a little long, and a two parter, but I think it's worth a look.
After just watching the movie this past Halloween I've never realised the mayor also throughout the whole movie is his worry face and panicky... then when they think jack is dead he reveals he had a feeling deep down that something was gonna go all wrong. I feel like maybe the mayor has a similar vision or feeling but didn't get the screen time for it.
Could it have been Santa? He's shown to use some sort of magic when he leaves Oogies Lair and fixes Christmas almost instantly. Perhaps he was trying to use his own power to warn of the break in balance between Holidays?
My theory on why Sally got the vision is because if you look closely at the town meeting, Sally looks worried about what is going to happen. She already knew this was going to be a bad idea. Thats why I think she got the vision.
Okay, this finally explains the relationship between Jack and Sally to me. For the longest time, they never made sense to me, but know it makes a bit more sense.
Some people are claiming that Santa is the actual narrator of the soundtrack, but personally, it makes perfect sense that he had sent those signals to Sally for he, after being rescued by jack, tells him to listen to what Sally says. Also, is shown that he could have the power to do such thing AND it is well known that he knows EVERYFUCKINGTHING. Although Jack almost ruin the holiday, I think Santa wanted Jack to be happy since the beginning, because his actual goal is to mame people happy and to bring people closer. Also, happy holidays hahaha
I think that were Sally's vision came from was part of herself that took Crhistmas as a bad idea. Almost like another part of her that she didn't know about.
I think your theory sums it all up perfectly. You also opened my eyes to parts of the movie I had previously kept unconnected. All in all, a wonderful video about my favorite movie
The theory of Sally is: Sally t’was a witch, the others suspected this and dismantled her, and suddenly I found out that the doctor she lives with hadn’t made her, but HAD made Fenkin Stien, and he had sown her back together, the evidence to this is that in the 16? 17s? They would do horrible thing to people whom where witches, would be burned, hung, or dismantled. This is my favorite theory in the nightmare before Christmas! I love spreading Sally’s back story, #TheorySquad
Some times I feel like sally is the corps bride Emily because what if. The docter found her stiched her together and named her sally and since Emily also known as sally liked jack which could possible be victor because Emily thought she married victor she could see a vison because she understands more than jack also known as victor
I think that dally was killed for being a "witch" Thenk camed to Halloween town but was dismemeberd and Docter Finkelstein sewed her together so if She really was a Witch that explains her vision
I personally don’t think it was a vision but a reaction of Sally’s kindness showing the true mean of Christmas but it was unable to stay in the Halloween world and Sally realises this and know the same will happen to Jacks plans so see try’s to prevent it happen and also prevent jack changing who he, Halloween and Christmas real are are.
I think it was the power of Christmas town. It is it's nature to grant Christmas wishs to people and Jack (thou dead) asked for a wish in all aspects. This would explain why he was able to find the doors to other holidays and was sucked into Christmas town and Sally vision. Knowing Sally (after seeing this vision) would try and stop Jack the very person she wanted to be with herself and would make Jack reflect on what he really was looking for at the end. This would explain why Santa was trapped by Ooge, but was able to easily escape at the end and why Santa was able to get back into Halloween Town and gave Jack the other thing he wished for to show the others of Halloween Town something new.
It seemed as if the land being a magical place follows Jack and his ideas for Halloween and seeing Jack want to do Christmas the land tried to change into little Christmas plants for a start but couldn't bear the weight of the Christmas demeanor in such a land in turn catching fire and being destroyed
I always thought that the flower was just some sort of vision flower that would show you something that may happen if certain events were to occurred. Yes this may sound odd but we are talking about Tim Burton and Disney.
I thought that the vision came from the potion that sally made just before her vision like maybe she had the residue of the potion on her hands and that is what gave her the vision but I could be wrong it is just an idea after all
I have an idea: like Isaac said, the vision apears to Jack when he ask for it. A little like... A present? Maybe Santa is for something in it. This his his nature to help people by trying to making them happy, juste like Jack's one is to spoil a happy party to make it scary.
I always thought Santa wasn't in any real danger and could have magic'd his way out of things at any time, but wanted to help Jack see deeper into himself. So, I think Santa sent Sally the vision...
I always thought the spirit/magic of Christmas attempted to manifest in their realm (after jack brought things back), but couldnt be sustained because it doesn't belong and thats why it burst into flame. I didnt see it as a vision. This is a good outlook though.
I think the spirit of Halloween give Sally the vision to talk some since into Jack. But at the sometime the spirit of Halloween wanted Jack to understand his mistake. And realize he's meant to be with Sally. Cause the spirit of Halloween wanted Jack and Sally to be together. That my theory on my favorite of all time. Plus thank for doing this. I always wonder why Sally had the vision.
Okay! So I thought of this and what if there is a higher powered that watches over the holidays as a whole and did help Jack. Maybe they saw something in Sally as she was being created and gave her that power? Or she basically talked to Sally (through visions and such) which made her rebellious in a way. Then that power helped Jack, to help him think of something new, then, when they discovered Jack was trying to take over Christmas, they "talked" to Sally. The power knew Sally was the one for Jack, so they helped him and Sally out? Idk why I got that but I did
HALLOWEEN IS THE BEST HOLIDAY!!!! I LOVE the song "this is halloween" Especially Jonathan young’s cover and oogie boogie’s song. Oh man his covers are great
I think her vision came because of true love. When there is true love, there is a mystical “soul” connection, a connection of spirits on a higher plane. Because of the deep care for the other, visions can manifest. She tried to warn him, but at that stage he wasn’t in true love with her back yet so he didn’t believe and didn’t listen. At the end when he realized her vision had come true, and he realized she still had unconditional love for him even when he failed at his project, that is when he fell in true love with her. ❤️
about sally, the way sally died... she was accused of witch craft and dismembered and in the after life the dr then
sewed her back together.. which might explain the visions..
Same.
But Halloween town is not hell it is sort of a concept that somehow became a plane of existence
Nope she was made not put back together
no, she's literally a rag doll. She, not even her skin, is not human
I agree
The narrator was revealed to be Santa, it was told in the deleted epilogue as the narrator visited halloween town AGAIN. However i do believe the whole higher entity thing. I also think that Sally was a witch b4 she died (since dismemberment was a common sentence for witches) so it would make sense the "entity" would contact Sally as she would be more intune with magics and the likes, especially if she was a seer.
btw jack and sally had 4 to 5 skeleton kids who play in a xylophone band.

I agree it's either the narrator or another all-powerful entity that wanted Jack to see the error of his ways and turn back to Halloween town. Like the saying goes 'Those who don't hear must feel.' Zero has a super deep voice then dang

nope, on both a novelization and the soundtrack CD, it's revealed that the narrator is in fact, Santa!

Maybe instead of the narrator or a holiday spirit. It was Mrs. Claus who sent the warning to Sally after finding out what happened to her husband.
this is fascinating, I always thought that maybe it was a psychic plant that allowed visions based on an individual's needs
I’m sally for Halloween! I love this movie so much!
GM Harris so is my sister
Isn’t the narrator Santa though? They were going to cast a separate narrator but decided it would make more sense if Santa narrated the beginning...
Sally's vision could have come from the god of Halloween.

I'm digging the hair cut! Very nice!
(also, if you havn't already noticed, it's a little long)
I do think it was that higher entity you mentioned. However, I don't think that it made a mistake by pulling Jack into Christmas. It wasn't giving Jack what he wanted over what he needed. It was giving him exactly what he needed.
(side note, I believe the entity is Zero as well which I will briefly go over at the end)
Let me explain.
I like your theory here, it’s very well developed. Just one thing, it’s Oogie Boogie, not Oggy Boggy.
I like his new hair cut
My theory on why Sally got the vision is because if you look closely at the town meeting, Sally looks worried about what is going to happen. She already knew this was going to be a bad idea. Thats why I think she got the vision.
His name is Dr. Finklstein, I played the sequel “Oogie’s Revenge”
7:15-7:25 my heart melted when i heard that😍😍😍😍😍😍
At this point I'm pretty sure they kidnap Santa Claus and I always thought it was him using Christmas magic.
Okay, this finally explains the relationship between Jack and Sally to me. For the longest time, they never made sense to me, but know it makes a bit more sense.
A way she could see the future is because she seems like a voodoo doll. This would make it simple for her to look into the future
THERE YOU GO
YES! I was hoping you would make a video about this!
Wow 😳 the Mama ody part was so hilarious 😊👍😂😉
I was wondering about that...thanks😊
Wait, jack had kids?!i never heard that soundtrack!i was shipping sally and jack ever since I saw the movie!😍😭👏👏❤️❤️❤️
I think your theory sums it all up perfectly. You also opened my eyes to parts of the movie I had previously kept unconnected. All in all, a wonderful video about my favorite movie
From another video I watched, sally had visions before she had died(which causes people to think she is a witch and leads to her death)
YOU'RE THE BEST UA-camR EVER!
I like your hair btw
True
I am grooooooot
Maybe she developed powers of premonition & that was her first vision.
The theory of Sally is:
Sally t’was a witch, the others suspected this and dismantled her, and suddenly I found out that the doctor she lives with hadn’t made her, but HAD made Fenkin Stien, and he had sown her back together, the evidence to this is that in the 16? 17s? They would do horrible thing to people whom where witches, would be burned, hung, or dismantled.
This is my favorite theory in the nightmare before Christmas! I love spreading Sally’s back story,
#TheorySquad
She’s a Frankenstein looking rag doll 1:21
Some times I feel like sally is the corps bride Emily because what if. The docter found her stiched her together and named her sally and since Emily also known as sally liked jack which could possible be victor because Emily thought she married victor she could see a vison because she understands more than jack also known as victor
*THIS IS HOLLWEEN**THIS IS HOLLWEEN* *YOU ARE BEST UA-camR IN HISTORY*
The beginning was hilarious too 😉😂 "Happy Halloween Mortals!" 😂😂
Love your theories!
Wow my theories or his🤔
My Favourite Song from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie is "What's This?"
I think this UA-camr is about to explode, he's been in my recommended at least twice now.
The this halloween song is my jam 😂
For me it's the whole playlist
Oogy boogy?
Ili baby me too
NOT NO NOT NO
Is no one going to talk about him having kids!? This is awesome!
Sooooooo true! Thanks for watching!
*blinks and stares in disbelief* Waaait, my comment got noticed?! I am so happy right now. Love your videos, my favorite is the one about Dopey!
Sally is my favorite character in the nightmare before Christmas. Love your videos and I was so happy to have watched this video 😊
I thought that the vision came from the potion that sally made just before her vision like maybe she had the residue of the potion on her hands and that is what gave her the vision but I could be wrong it is just an idea after all
I don't know where Sally's vision came from, Isaac. But, it's an interesting power that she has.
The best YTer ever
Thank you so much :D
like your videos plz reply
YTer = UA-camr
I have an idea: like Isaac said, the vision apears to Jack when he ask for it. A little like... A present? Maybe Santa is for something in it. This his his nature to help people by trying to making them happy, juste like Jack's one is to spoil a happy party to make it scary.
Once again, great video Issac! Also did you get a haircut? It looks nice!
the narrator is Santa, and I just assumed that sally's parts came from someone with future telling ability.
I always thought Santa wasn't in any real danger and could have magic'd his way out of things at any time, but wanted to help Jack see deeper into himself. So, I think Santa sent Sally the vision...
I want to know how oggie boogie got his henchmen and why they seem more chaotic than the rest of the town
Kidnapped children forced to do his bidding?
@@hackman669 I don't think so they seem to do a lot of stuff on there own free will
I always thought the spirit/magic of Christmas attempted to manifest in their realm (after jack brought things back), but couldnt be sustained because it doesn't belong and thats why it burst into flame. I didnt see it as a vision. This is a good outlook though.
3:24 " *that's right little boy* "
I keep rewinding help.
Your haircut is awesome
Cool video
NICE 👍🏻 Happy Halloween 🎃 I loved it !
Thank your for calling it a Halloween movie and not a Christmas movie!
Isaac I love your videos!!! ☺💕 I'm always enjoying your videos!
MERRY SPOOPY DAY
2017
Jack decides unicorns are the new thing now
Hope Vang YUSSS
2021 - Me laughing out loud at my Jack Skellington onsie hanging right over my unicorn onsie.
How did you know?!?
I think the spirit of Halloween give Sally the vision to talk some since into Jack. But at the sometime the spirit of Halloween wanted Jack to understand his mistake. And realize he's meant to be with Sally. Cause the spirit of Halloween wanted Jack and Sally to be together. That my theory on my favorite of all time. Plus thank for doing this. I always wonder why Sally had the vision.
the vision came from because that the holidays are supposed to be separated from each other
Idk why I got that but I did
her vision came from santa so he knew that jack would try to do this
damn Isaac, looking good with the new haircut! and also, great video as always
This almost makes sense but why wouldn't the vision be sent directly to Jackalso Is the ben
Youmentioned Ben Carlin from supercarlinbrothers
I love this theory! Also it's Finkelstein, I have been obsessed with who the narrator really is.
HALLOWEEN IS THE BEST HOLIDAY!!!!
I LOVE the song "this is halloween" Especially Jonathan young’s cover and oogie boogie’s song. Oh man his covers are great
omg i love ur videos on the nightmare before xmas there the best pls do more in the future
I always thought it was the plant itself causing the vission. But Admittedly I don't have any proof.
Issac your Haircut looks so dashing!!!!! As for the video, awesome! So festive
The most important question really is
How did jack make babis
You come up with theories to explain things that I never thought needed explaining
