as a gay guy, watching this episode for the first time, not seeing it coming at all, was crazy. at the beginning of the episode i was just thinking it was funny how much time they were spending together, and maybe it was a little flirty but i didnt wanna get my hopes up. and then the second buddy says ‘its okay to be confused, eric” staring right at him like that, i was like, damn, is what i think is happening actually happening?? and then they kissed and i fuckin lost it. its so rare to see such a cute and funny portrayal of gay romance, especially among teenagers and especially during the 70s (and the 90s). i lament what could’ve been if the world was less homophobic, and the writers had went forward with buddy as a character instead of writing him out. it wouldve been so special. but at least we have this one episode to look back on :’)
A definite "don't I feel oblivious" moment. I never watched the show much, had never heard of this scene, and had no idea this was actually the first guy-on-guy kiss on US primetime TV. I'd thought before that Dawson's Creek had the first one, but apparently this episode predates that by a few months. When I read about the backlash from this back in the day and see a few of the rather malicious comments on this vid that are just from the last few years, I think of that line from X-Men: "People like you are the reason I was afraid to go to school as a child." If there's a "gay agenda", for most of us it's just to one day see a world where nobody CARES what your sexual orientation is and it's no more interesting to people than your hair color. Then LGBT kids could grow up being able to just relax and enjoy all the great things about being young that straight youth do, without feeling like they're surrounded by people who hate them and feeling as if they have to be on their guard every minute of the day.
It's nice to know that I'm not the only who thinks about that line when reading comments on the internet. I saw this episode years ago but I never got to see the kiss because my father told me to look away from the screen. This would eventually happen twice. I have long since rectified this issue and watched the scene in full but the emotional damage I suffered from that day lasted for years. Every time I see such vitriolic remarks I'm reminded of him and of Mystique's line from X-men. I wish I had seen more things like this when I was younger so I could've avoided feeling like I had to hide. The bright side to this is that my mother said there was nothing wrong with me seeing two guys kiss that day. That was certainly a comfort.
Buddy should've stuck around, he could've become a very close friend of Eric and helped him sort his shit with Donna, while finding love of his own some time down the line

*_HOLY SHIT BOYS, ITS HAPPENING._*
joseph is so adorable.
Even though I don’t ship them they would have been great friends
Agreed
They could have been amazing friends
I agree.
WE COULD’VE HAD BI ERIC THIS WHOLE TIME
Buddy was so soft that even I was cheering to Eric leave Donna and stay with him
they woulda been so good 😊
as a gay guy, watching this episode for the first time, not seeing it coming at all, was crazy. at the beginning of the episode i was just thinking it was funny how much time they were spending together, and maybe it was a little flirty but i didnt wanna get my hopes up. and then the second buddy says ‘its okay to be confused, eric” staring right at him like that, i was like, damn, is what i think is happening actually happening?? and then they kissed and i fuckin lost it. its so rare to see such a cute and funny portrayal of gay romance, especially among teenagers and especially during the 70s (and the 90s). i lament what could’ve been if the world was less homophobic, and the writers had went forward with buddy as a character instead of writing him out. it wouldve been so special. but at least we have this one episode to look back on :’)
They should’ve ended up together :(
1:24 the faces 🤣🤣
Love that 70s show and this is my favorite episode. Jayy Gordon-Levit is a great man and actor
That 70s Show's cutest couple. Too bad we never saw Buddy again after that.
Ugh i am DYING buddy and eric would be the cutest couple EVER
This was one of my favorite scenes.
"sometimes I can just be downright mean" **flashes back to spiderman 3**

That kiss was so smooth;;
3:59 😂 I love his confidence though in thinking that if buddy is gay why wouldn’t he throw himself to someone as hot as him.
The world just wasn't ready for them 😔
Lol I luv it. That 70s show will always be my favorite..❤😂
Wouldve been infinitely better than Eric and Donna repeatedly breaking up
Buddy should've stuck around, he could've become a very close friend of Eric and helped him sort his shit with Donna, while finding love of his own some time down the line
