Waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. This happens to me every night after 3-4 hours sleep. It seems to be very common among older people I know (65 plus). There needs to be more research on this issue. Current treatments don’t work for this type of insomnia -

Another sterling example as to why this channel is the most important, the most vital channel in the keto/carnivore/HEALTH space on any platform. Dr. Cywes does a better job dealing with the inner realities and issues, the 90% of the iceberg below the surface, than any other channel in this space. The goal of metabolic health is not won with cheap “hacks” and shortcuts, it is built by laying a firm and proper foundation. IT BOGGLES MY MIND that Dr. Cywes puts these messages on UA-cam FOR FREE. Yet here it is. Thank you, Dr. Cywes, for what you do. It makes a real, enduring difference, I can tell you that from my own experience over the last three years. Amazing.

40+ years dealing with sleep-onset insomnia and hyper-brain activity when going to bed. Been doing a sloppy, lazy version of keto for the past two years, but in early February, I started doing strict keto, along with fasting after 5 PM. Six weeks later, I seem to be fat adapted, no more carb cravings, my fasting glucose dropped from 95 down to the mid-to-upper 70s, brain doesn't race anymore when going to bed, my insomnia appears to be cured, and no more morning brain fog.

One thing I noticed after being carnivore for awhile is that I no longer need to get up to go pee during the night. I am wondering why. It doesn't matter how much water I drink in the evening. Definitely a great perk.

Now when you mentioned it .... Same here. I think it could be because carbohydrates store so much water in tissue and overnight the body gets rid of it.

We watch movies at night using a projector. We are essentially staring at the reflection off the wall vs a light source. I assume this is less blue light exposure. It definitely does not interfere with my sleep because I notoriously fall asleep during the movies.

Poor sleep really only becomes a problem where you worry excessively about it .....35 years of rotating shift work now retired knowing that laying in bed awake rolling over and over only makes it worse so much better to get up and do something useful or at least entertaining.

Great vid - thanks for sharing multiple views based on the individual!🙏 Sleep’s been challenging for me due to PTSD, head injuries, and early life trauma. Used to have constant night terrors but much better now. Whats helped most: Keto/carnivore, fasting, exercise, working through the inner healing needed, practicing being relaxed in my body/mind more during the day and taking corrective action sooner when I notice stress/anxiety, using low light/candles at night, stretching before bed, journaling, mouth taping, improved oral hygiene, getting up early to watch the sunrise, and little to no water after 7 pm. 😁

My employment does not allow for sleep.
    I start at 1am - 4am.
I average just under 5 hours sleep a day.
    I have quit all overtime.
I can get 7 hours on my first day off but this is also irregular as I can work 10 days straight without a day off.
I go to the gym 3 days a week and try to walk 6km 3 days a week.
My job has a high medical requirement.
I force myself to get 2 hours sleep after work so I can exercise.
As a single Dad whose ex died last year from clotting due to the Pfizer vaccine, it is bloody hard trying to manage it all.

I’m 76. I wish I could describe my sleep issues which are erratic at best. I try something and it seems to work. Keep it up and maybe a week or so later, I can’t get to sleep, or I wake up and can’t get back to sleep, or I wake up every couple of hours…. Try something new, repeat the above sequence. It’s almost like I no longer have a biological clock. My only consolation is that, according to my Fitbit and Oura ring, I do get enough deep and REM sleep if I average it out over the course of a week.

I’m retired. I never watch “TV”-although I will watch movies and documentaries with my husband on weekends.
But evenings are when I can watch health videos-YOU!-and many other good people.
A guilty pleasure is youtube shorts. So I am exposed to blue light-one of these days I’ll get clip-on lenses. But when I go to sleep, I put on youtube new agey music that lasts 7-8 hours and donn my really good sleep mask.
One of my cats comes and spends 15 minutes curled up on my chest, purring. I’m usually asleep within a very few minutes.
I usually only wake up twice a night and can get back to sleep. I used to use CBD gummies as an aid, but the help was mostly a placebo and they were ruining my teeth, and added unnecessary carbs, so-stopped.
You’re right, self-care (foot massage!) also works. No kids, just cats, and they don’t bother us at night. Much.
I do what works for me.
Thanks for thrashing out this topic. A lot of people don’t prioritize sleep and haven’t yet found solutions for whatever their sleep challenges are.
Thanks again for going down this rabbit hole!❤

Very interesting to read, but could you press the little buttons on the right by your name and edit in some paragraphs then it is much easier to follow! My 26-year-old cat sleeps on my face on and off washing and washing my hair and ruins my sleep, along with my rescued French bulldog snores and walks all over the bed. I follow all the usual techniques to sleep, but the animals that I cannot live without make it impossible. Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet.Sorry fo i alredy posted before but i dont know what to do:
I am now over 135 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else bu 400-500 g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems.
I lost about 17 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements). In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs in the last 3 weeks but might be just water.
I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition.
So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet.
PS: Most of my time as a CArnivre i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat
    Thank you for your attention!

In regards to sleep apnea. In the field of orthotropics, they've found that when the face doesn't develop forward the airway becomes restricted. This can be due to soft & carb plant-based foods in infancy/childhood.
A tough food carnivore diet brings the childs face forward opening the airway and making room for the full set of 32 teeth. They are also far better looking than their peers.

Japan and Germany is the perfect example. Germans are traditionally diligent and so are the Japanese. But in work life there are two different philosophys at work here. Germans made lots of social and worker friendly laws in the past 150 years because they thought workers need to be healthy in order to be productive. In Japan, they work long hours and take every extra work they get at their job as a sign of respect for their employers. The result is, that japanese people work significantly longer, but Germans are way more productive. That's what every measurement of productivity consistently over time shows. So what's the point of working long when you are actually less productive? You suffer your life and health for nothing.

Just watched your "Ep:264 PROOF THAT PLANTS AND VEGANISM IS NOT A HUMAN DIET". The first video of yours I've seen.
It was very good. "But". There is a problem. I thought about this argument for a while, but not very deep. It's too complex for me and I do not come to a conclusion. You seem like an intelligent man. Maybe you can answer it. In my mind this is important to know/talk about, but maybe it's so simple that I can't see the answer that everybody else already knows.
    Ok. The "problem":
It is always said, that the carnivore diet is "natural". That it is THE way to eat to be / stay healthy.
The bones and teeth we found from ancestors show that they were around 35 years when they died. So they were not "super humans" that lived healthy until age 100 and then just died. I've read that hygiene and medicinal interventions were the main reasons for a longer life expectancy. But the contentious point always seems to be which diet is "the natural one". "The natural way is the best way" is handled as a state of fact. Everything else is reasoned upon and around this premise.
Let's say I talk to my soy neighbor who bought into the zeitgeist of "plant based = good, meat = bad", who got his knowledge from tabloids and feeds his daughter mostly plants.
And I would say "For the longest time meat was an essential part of the human died. One of the theories about why humans evolved and got smarter is because of meat consumption. Because it is packed with nutrients. It is the "natural" way to eat for humans."
And his response would be "That is just one theory. You can't prove that. And if this "natural" way was "the best way", why then was the average age of people in the past around 35 when they died? If it is that healthy?"
This seems like an appeal to nature fallacy or something.
So the question would be "Is my impression correct that everything revolves around "what is the natural way of eating"?"
And also "Is there proof or is all of this just speculation?"
I mean...in this fictional conversation with my neighbor, I could pull out some anecdotal evidence like Jordan / Mikhaila Peterson's stories, but then the argument could be, that those people have some genetic malfunction and also "All people are different, therefore such extrem cases do not prove anything about humans in general".
This always bothers me in the back of my mind. "This is the natural diet!" (claimed with conviction).
"Ok, what's the proof? How can you be so sure? And why does that automatically mean it is the healthiest?"
I mean sure, if you talk to mad people, deprived of nutrients that make their brains function properly, and they insist that plants are the new meat in an insane rage, throwing a temper tantrum, you would have to talk with conviction instead of a "Maybe. It's not proven. We don't know." to counter their claims with the same force, so that onlookers do not get the impression that the screeching lunatics won the argument.
Your argument that the plant food we have now was not available in the far past is a good one.
But I think there is no proof that just because "people ate this way in the past" that this concludes that it is "the best and healthiest" way to eat (other than "Humans didn't go extinct.")
Maybe there's a fault in my logic. I don't get it.
